IGCF discusses the issues faced by the social media influencers

The 10th edition of the International Government Communication Forum (IGCF 2021) hosted a series of key discussions on the sidelines of the two-day forum to raise awareness and understanding about the significant role played by public communications and empower the youth, social media influencers and government communication departments.

The featured talks included ‘Influencers’ Forum: Infodemic’ and ‘Youth forum: The fifth generation of ideas’, among others.

The session was moderated by popular TV presenters Haitham Alhammadi and Nada Al Shaibani. Both emphasised the importance of cooperation between government communication departments and social media influencers, which could limit the infodemic, reaffirming the role of media institutions that are founded on the principles of accuracy and credibility.

Participants of the session, including prominent social media influencers from across the Arab world, media figures and students, lauded them for sharing their industry perspectives.

Haitham said, “There are many social media influencers who post news without verifying its authenticity and source to increase their following which is one of the major reasons behind the infodemic.”

Nada Al Shaibani argued, “Many users on social media are influenced by what celebrities post. The race to gain followers and lack of credibility are top problems of social media influencers. This may lead to crisis and false news.”

Participants also noted the criteria needed to integrate influencers into government communication departments — post a thorough analysis of their profiles, the type of content they create on their social platforms, and the efforts they undertake to verify the accuracy and authenticity of the content they post.

The fifth generation of ideas.

The ‘Fifth generation of ideas’ session was moderated by TV presenter Marwan Al Shehhi and YouTube Content Creator Maitha Mohammed. They both speakers highlighted the role the youth play in helping achieve national identity of a country.

Al Shehhi stressed that the youth are the foundation of the future and they continue to help in the move to increase the knowledge of the younger generation, especially with the rapid advancement of technological innovations, including the emergence of social media platforms.

Maitha Mohammed shined the light on the tools and skills that are needed to invest in the youth – empowering them with the required skill sets like time management and setting priorities, which can help in the move to achieve their goals.

The session also reviewed the challenges resulting from the pandemic, both positive and negative impacts caused by these extraordinary times. Both speakers agreed that the pandemic encouraged today’s youth to evaluate and prioritise their goals, while others had their projects and ambitions hindered by the pandemic.

The capital city is hosting the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX) 2021 at Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC)…reports Asian Lite News

The eighteenth edition (ADIHEX 2021), organised by the Emirates Falconers’ Club (EFC), will be held under the theme “Sustainability and Heritage… A Reborn Aspiration”, in line with the country’s plans to mark the UAE’s Golden Jubilee celebrations. The event will end on 3rd October, 2021,

As the largest event of its kind in the Middle East and Africa, ADIHEX has become a prestigious global platform that allows participants to identify distributers and partners, expand their businesses, launch and promote latest products in addition to its integral role in promoting and preserving cultural heritage.

Equestrian Exhibition

The event attracts thousands of falconers, hunting and equestrian enthusiasts, end users, traders, major buyers, VVIPS and dignitaries from around the world.

Held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative of Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Falconers’ Club (EFC), ADIHEX 2021 will attract 680 exhibitors and trademarks from 44 countries. Organisers said 319 Emirati exhibitors are participating in the event.

ADNEC said it had completed its preparations to host the ADIHEX 2021 and confirmed that the entry is limited to those who are vaccinated, and must present Green Pass status on Alhosn application in addition to a negative PCR test result within the last 48 hours, to enter the event.

The ADIHEX Conference is a premier learning platform that offers free-to-attend workshops, panel discussions and case studies to the ADIHEX attendees.

The richness and comprehensiveness of ADIHEX is represented through 11 different sectors, including arts and crafts, equestrian, falconry, hunting and safari trips, hunting and camping equipment, hunting weapons, projects to enhance and preserve cultural heritage, outdoor recreational vehicles and equipment, veterinary products and services, Fishing and marine sports equipment, and professional media.

ADIHEX was initiated by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, in Abu Dhabi in 2003. It attracted more than 1.5 million visitors throughout its past editions, representing a continuous success story in preserving the environment, sustainable hunting, presenting heritage and enhancing the awareness of youth and younger generations about traditions and the authentic Emirati culture.

The 2019 edition attracted 110,000 visitors from 120 countries.

Dirab Golf & Country Club reopens

The club has undergone a series of extensive improvements and is now open to the public again…reports Asian Lite News

Following its acquisition of Dirab Golf & Country Club, Golf Saudi has now re-opened the golf course and the clubhouse to the public following an ambitious redevelopment programme. Situated in the heart of the Kingdom’s capital, Dirab Golf & Country Club has implemented a series of improvements across the entire site in early 2021, including facility enhancement, landscaping, agronomy, the implementation of associate training programmes, guest management and general course renovation.

Dirab Golf & Country Club Has Re-Opened

The reopening celebrations coincided with the 91st Saudi National Day on Thursday 23rd September, with Dirab Golf & Country Club organising activities for golfers, kids and families. As part of Golf Saudi’s Mass Participation programme, Dirab organised activities for visitors of all ages to try golf through a series of fun activations, including The Stadium Concept and SNAG. The celebrations offered entertainment for the whole family with live and interactive kid’s games. Traditional Saudi heritage was also celebrated with a traditional food tent and Najdi folklore dancing. The National Day celebrations were just the first in a long line of upcoming events, which the golf club has planned in order to engage with local culture and the Saudi public, as art of its long-term plans to become a destination for exceptional experiences.

An international management presence is now overseeing the property, with additional resources from Golf Saudi’s Corporate office and Dirab Golf & Country Club benefiting from the new team’s multiple years of experience in the Middle East. Nominations for the School Librarian of the Year Award open

The award highlights the significant role that librarians play in instilling reading and enhancing the educational process…reports Asian Lite News

The search is on for the UAE’s top school librarians with the return of the prestigious annual School Librarian of the Year Award. Now in its sixth year, the award is given by the The General Secretariat of Executive Council of Dubai and Emirates Literature Foundation to those individuals who have shown exceptional commitment in championing literacy in their schools and sharing their passion for books. It will be awarded in two categories, school librarians working in public (government) schools in the UAE and school librarians working in private schools in the UAE.

The year award is now open for nominations and will close on 10 November 2021. The winners will be announced in February 2022.

Nominations

Nominations can be put forward by any individual, including colleagues, head teachers, students, governors and parents. Self-nominations are also welcome and encouraged. Librarians will be assessed by a panel of judges through a sifting process and the shortlisted nominees will be visited in their school libraries. All nominees will be offered Professional Development opportunities.

Eligibility Criteria

All schools are eligible, whatever their language, but nominations must be entered online in either Arabic or English. Shortlisted nominees from both public and private schools will be judged on the library’s role within the school and wider community in line with the following criteria:

•             How does the library environment promote reading?

•             Does the library make the best use of the resources available to it (including the physical library collection and use of technology)?

•             What is the librarian’s, and the library’s role in raising academic and literacy standards in the school?

•             How does the librarian promote reading for pleasure?

•             What is the library’s role within the school and the wider community?

The closing date for nominations is 10 November 2021.

Dubai Municipality wins 10 categories of International Stevie Awards

Dubai Municipality has achieved an exceptional and remarkable presence in the international Stevie Awards competitions, by winning ten categories of the award…reports Asian Lite News

The Municipality’s enhanced presence in the award was due to its keenness to apply the principles of competitiveness and innovation in its various practices, and to work according to the highest international standards.

Published Materials category

Dubai Municipality won the gold position in the Published Materials category, organized by the International Business Organization. The Municipality designed and prepared an environmental story aimed at educating children about the importance of preserving natural reserves in the emirate, specifically the Jebel Ali Wildlife Sanctuary.

IT Service Management category

Dubai Municipality won the gold in the IT Service Management category, with the IT Service Management System and Technical Systems Control, which aims to preserve all technical resources.

Business Technology Solutions category

The Municipality also won gold in the Business Technology Solutions category, for its initiative, “Dubai Municipality program to implement the requirements of the Dubai strategy for paperless transactions.” The initiative aims to achieve the objectives and requirements of the Dubai Government’s strategy for paperless transactions, and digitize all services provided to customers and internal operations in Dubai Municipality.

Best e-Book category

Dubai Municipality won a gold position in the Best e-Book category, as the initiative, “Guide on Outdoor Seating in the Emirate of Dubai” won the award The guide was published in 2020 with the aim of raising awareness among restaurant owners and various agencies and institutions in the emirate on planning standards and regulations for outdoor seating areas , to enable them to provide the external seating of their stores in line with these standards, and to ensure the safety and comfort of the users of the seats and users of the adjacent sidewalks.

New Product Management category

The Municipality also won Bronze position in the New Product Management category, as its “Smart System for Project Impacts” initiative won the award. It aims to automate and develop the current mechanism for approving infrastructure projects on the Municipality’s survey system and the procedures for approving these projects into a smart mechanism, and obtaining all data necessary through the new smart system electronically and immediately.

Mass Communication category

Dubai Municipality won the silver position in the category of Mass Communication, for the media coverage initiative to launch the environmental satellite DMSAT-1. The media team in the Municipality covered the event live, in cooperation and coordination with the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center, through a direct link to launch the environmental satellite, in addition to media coverage by newspapers, radio and television channels.

Traditional and New Media Integration category

The digital marketing campaign of the Dubai Engineering System also won award in the Traditional and New Media Integration category. The system is a comprehensive and unified platform to ensure the quality of construction, as the marketing and promotional campaign of the system has significantly increased the number of its users and exceeded expectations.

Customer Service Team category

Dubai Municipality won the silver position in the Customer Service Team category and the Best Customer Service Executive category. The Dubai Frame won the award for the Best Customer Service Team category, due to the implementation by the Frame’s customer service team the highest levels of service and the establishment of more than 45 excellent events and community services, reaching 98% of customer happiness, and speaking in 11 different languages ​​with customers, including sign language.

Best Customer Service Executive category

Yousef Abdullah Al Hammadi, Head of the Big Parks Unit, won the “Best Customer Service Executive” award for his effective contribution to improving the services provided to visitors to public parks in Dubai and enhancing customer happiness for the services provided.

Best Government Response During Covid-19 category

Dubai Municipality won the silver position for the “Best Government Response During Covid-19” category for its Customer Happiness Initiative, which aims to ensure business continuity and service provision, in addition to the continuity of communication programs with customers, list out and meet their needs using modern and smart methods. More than 44 virtual forums were organized for different categories of customers achieving 100% in the percentage indicator of customer categories who were contacted in 2020.

The activation also aligns with Abu Dhabi’s recent decision to welcome fully vaccinated tourists from around the world without quarantine.

Captain Pilot Abdulaziz Nasser Al Mansoori, UAE Balloon Team President, expressed his happiness for organising and launching the first edition of the Abraham Balloon Festival, which embodies the aspirations of youth in the region’s countries to live in peace, in line with the Abraham Accords.

He stressed the importance of launching this festival, which will attract a large number visitors from across the region and the world to showcase the projects and achievements of Middle Eastern countries in various scientific and cultural fields and build bridges of communication between countries of the world.

Al Mansoori added that the festival will include a wide range of heritage, cultural and scientific activities organised by countries from the Middle East and the USA, and will host several regional and international personalities to promote peace, tolerance and coexistence between different cultures of the world.
