Investigate Pakistan Election Before Recognition, US Lawmakers tell Biden

The US State Department spokesperson voiced concerns over allegations of electoral process interference….reports Asian Lite News

Several US lawmakers, from both sides of the aisle, have urged the Biden administration not to recognise election results of Pakistan until alleged irregularities are investigated, media reported.

“Claims of interference or fraud should be fully investigated,” the US State Department’s spokesperson said in a statement on Friday, expressing concerns about the allegations of interference in the electoral process.

“We join credible international and local election observers in their assessment that these elections included undue restrictions on freedom of expression, association and peaceful assembly,” the statement said.

“Given the recent strong statements by House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul, Ranking Member Gregory Meeks and other prominent lawmakers in support of Pakistani democracy, we urge the Biden Administration and Congress to look into strong concerns of vote counting irregularities and ballot tampering,” the committee’s chairman stated, The News reported.

A senior member of the powerful House Foreign Affairs Committee, Congressman Brad Sherman, said, “Press organisations in Pakistan should be free to report vote tabulations and there should be no unwarranted delay in announcing results.”

Along with that Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib stated, “We must stand with the Pakistani people as their democracy is at serious risk. They should be able to elect their leaders without interference and tampering with the process and the US must ensure our tax dollars don’t go to anyone undermining that,” The News reported.

Congresswoman Dina Titus said that she was closely monitoring the situation on the ground urging officials to adhere to the rule of law. “Free and fair elections are the cornerstone of a functioning democracy,” she stated, condemning the use of political violence and restriction on freedoms of expression in Pakistan.

Iraq, US Discuss Exiting Coalition Mission

Yahya Rasoul said that based on these meetings, a timetable will be set for the gradual reduction of international coalition advisors in Iraq…reports Asian Lite News

Iraq and the US resumed a new round of dialogue to discuss ending the US-led international coalition’s mission in Iraq, the Iraqi government said.

Iraqi military spokesman Yahya Rasoul said on Sunday in a statement that the Higher Military Commission (HMC) resumed meetings with the international coalition side to assess the military situation, the level of threat posed by the Islamic State (IS) group, in addition to the capabilities of the Iraqi forces.

Rasoul said that based on these meetings, a timetable will be set for the gradual reduction of international coalition advisors in Iraq, leading to an end of the coalition mission of fighting IS and the transition to Iraq’s bilateral relations with coalition countries, Xinhua news agency reported.

The meetings with the international coalition will be held periodically to complete the commission work as quickly as possible, as long as nothing disturbs the meetings, Rasoul added.

On January 25, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Iraq agreed with the US to form the HMC to end the international coalition mission in Iraq and move their relationship to comprehensive bilateral relations with the coalition countries at the political, economic, cultural, security and military levels.

US announces over $5 bn investment in chip-related R&D

It will also help leverage shared facilities and expertise to ensure innovators have access to critical capabilities and build a skilled and diverse semiconductor workforce…reports Asian Lite News

The Joe Biden-Kamala Harris administration has announced to invest over $5 billion in semiconductor-related research, development and workforce needs.

The investment will empower the National Semiconductor Technology Center (NSTC), to advance Biden’s goals of driving R&D in the US.

The NSTC will ensure the US leads the way in the next generation of semiconductor technologies by supporting the design, prototyping, and piloting of the latest semiconductor technologies, the White House said in a statement late on Friday.

It will also help leverage shared facilities and expertise to ensure innovators have access to critical capabilities and build a skilled and diverse semiconductor workforce.

As part of the implementation of the CHIPS and Science Act, the investments “advance US leadership in semiconductor R&D, cut down on the time and cost of commercialising new technologies, bolster US national security, and connect and support workers in securing good semiconductor jobs,” said the statement.

The US currently produces less than 10 per cent of global supply and none of the most advanced chips. The CHIPS and Science Act aims to change that by making a “historic investment” in US semiconductor manufacturing, research and development (R&D), and the workforce.

The CHIPS R&D programme includes $11 billion in total funding to advance four programess — the NSTC, the National Advanced Packaging Manufacturing Programme (NAPMP); the CHIPS Metrology Programme; and the CHIPS Manufacturing USA Institute.

“The NSTC will bring together and support government, industry, labor, customers, suppliers, educational institutions, entrepreneurs, and investors to accelerate the pace of new innovations, lower barriers to participation in semiconductor R&D, and directly address fundamental needs for a skilled, diverse semiconductor workforce,” said the US government.

US threatening to tear Delhi away from Moscow, says envoy

India and Russia have maintained a robust strategic partnership, rooted in historical ties and shared interests, over decades….reports Asian Lite News

The Russian envoy to India, Denis Alipov, said on Saturday while his country remains New Delhi’s “reliable and time-tested friend”, the US is trying to threaten the relationship with sanctions.

“In India, Russia enjoys a solid reputation as a reliable, sincere, well-intentioned, time-tested friend. Such an image was initially shaped due to the major contribution of the USSR to Indian socio-economic development, and it largely persists to this day,” he said.

In an interview with the RT news agency, the Russian envoy added, “US officials who come here do not hesitate to directly state that they are pursuing the goal of tearing New Delhi away from Moscow. They are even making threats with secondary sanctions. Some Indian partners are forced to exercise caution, sometimes, frankly speaking, excessively, but there are also a significant number of those for whom such an approach is unacceptable.”

Highlighting the growing bilateral ties, the Russian envoy said, “Our ties continue to steadily expand in a wide range of areas according to our converging national interests. But unlike our Western partners, we have never conditioned cooperation on politics, have not interfered in domestic affairs, and have always maintained mutually respectful and trusted relationships. Therefore, even now we mainly see a growing desire to keep working together and finding ways to overcome well-known impediments caused by destructive unilateral approaches.”

“It should be noted that over the recent years the number of such contacts has increased manifold, and they are becoming more and more meaningful, including distributing information detailing the economic and investment potential and promising areas for interaction. It is indicative that the current bilateral trade turnover, which at the end of 2023 may exceed $60 billion, is several times higher than the pre-sanctions figures,” he added.

India and Russia have maintained a robust strategic partnership, rooted in historical ties and shared interests, over decades. Central to this relationship is extensive defence cooperation, with Russia serving as a major supplier of military equipment to India and both nations engaging in joint military exercises, co-development of advanced military platforms, and technology transfers, according to the Russian news agency.

More recently, energy collaboration has become another strong pillar of bilateral ties. The Kudankulam nuclear power plant (KNPP), India’s largest, is being built in Tamil Nadu with technical assistance provided by Moscow.

Russia’s expertise in nuclear technology has been instrumental in advancing India’s capabilities, fostering a mutually beneficial partnership, according to RT. The two countries have pledged to deepen their nuclear cooperation, recognizing its strategic importance for energy security and technological advancement.

Over the past 18 months, India has emerged as one of the largest importers of Russian oil–a stand New Delhi has had to defend on many occasions from accusations by Western media, and even some political leaders, of funding ‘Russia’s war’ with Ukraine. (ANI)

Russian envoy advocates permanent seat for India at UNSC

he Russian ambassador to India, Denis Alipov, on Saturday called for urgent reforms of the United Nations and agencies under it while making a strong case for the inclusion of India as a permanent member of the UN Security Council.

“We are of the view that India as a permanent member of the Security Council could make a significant contribution to promoting balance as well as an agenda focused on the interests of the world majority, primarily the countries of the Global South,” the Russian envoy said.

In an interview with the RT news agency, the Russian envoy added, “We have repeatedly indicated our support for New Delhi’s candidacy. Our Indian partners have proven themselves worthy during their non-permanent membership in the UNSC in 2021-2022 and have successfully led the Council twice. Their G20 presidency was also a clear confirmation of their high professionalism in multilateral diplomacy and the ability to find consensus amid growing geopolitical tensions.”

On the alleged polarisation at the UN, the envoy said it significantly complicates the expansion of security council, adding that the West already has an overrepresentation at the world body.

“Polarization at the UN significantly complicates dialogue on expanding the Security Council, in which the West is already disproportionately ‘overrepresented’. Against this background, we are doubtful of the vigorously promoted applications of new Western candidates,” Alipov said.

“At the same time, it is widely recognized that bringing the composition of the UN Security Council in to line with modern realities, bearing in mind the well-founded aspirations of India and other reputable contenders from Asia, Africa and Latin America for permanent membership, is long overdue. In this respect we value the broadest possible consensus,” the Russian ambassador to India added.

Calling the growing trade ties and economic and bilateral relations with India as ‘unprecedented’, the Russian envoy said, “Our trade and economic cooperation has reached an unprecedented level. Russia is one of India’s four main trading partners. We maintain a leading position in the supply of hydrocarbons providing more than a third of Indian imports.” (ANI)

Biden’s re-election team hits back at Trump

Biden’s campaign team appeared to highlight the apparent cognitive issues surrounding Trump, including slurring his words during his speech at the NRA convention….reports Asian Lite News

US President Joe Biden’s re-election campaign managers launched a frontal attack on his predecessor Donald Trump’s confused state of mind and slurring in his speech in retaliation to his appointee counsel Robert Hur alleging Biden suffered from memory loss, even about his son’s death.

The Biden-Harris HQ account shared multiple clips from Trump’s speech at the National Rifle Association (NRA) presidential forum in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on Friday showing him in a confused state of mind and slurring in his speech, media reports said.

The attacks were a retaliatory move against Trump-appointed Special Counsel Robert Hur’s 388-page review of Biden following sensitive materials being found at the President’s private residence in Delaware and former office at the Penn Biden Center in Washington, D.C., in December 2022 and January 2023.

Though Hur said Biden’s lapses did not want criminal charges but cited concerns about the President’s cognitive abilities; it was said that Biden’s memory was significantly limited and that he struggled to remember basic and key facts.

Trump seized the opportunity taking off from Hur’s report saying that the 81-year-old President’s decline meant he was unfit to run for the second term as President.

Biden’s team hit back raising similar concerns about Trump. In recent months, the 77-year-old has described Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban as the leader of Turkey; referred to Nikki Haley as former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi; and also suggested that former President Barack Obama was still in office, media reports said.

Biden’s campaign team appeared to highlight the apparent cognitive issues surrounding Trump, including slurring his words during his speech at the NRA convention. While sharing one clip, Biden’s team said that a “confused” Trump says he got 100 per cent of the vote in the recent GOP primary in the Virgin Islands, which is “off by about 26 per cent”.

Another short video shared by Biden’s team appears to show Trump slurring while he pronounced the word “subsidiaries”. Other clips also suggest the former President got distracted while telling a bizarre story about marbles; that a confused Trump appears to brag how much he did for China as President; and that he did not know it was a Friday while he was delivering his talk at the NRA event.

Newsweek reported that Biden’s team included a “list of lies” Trump told during his Pennsylvania speech in addition to “slurring his words, confusing what time and day it is, and pledging to repeal every gun safety law”.

Among the most damning claims from Hur’s classified documents report was how Biden did not remember, “even within several years,” when his son Beau died of brain cancer in 2015.

Hur said that, while answering questions as part of the probe in October, Biden also couldn’t remember when he was Vice-President, and had to ask when his first term ended and began.

Hur had said that even if he wasn’t in office, it would be hard to secure a conviction as the Democrat would likely present himself to a jury as a “sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory”.

“It would be difficult to convince a jury that they should convict him — by then a former President well into his 80’s–of a serious felony that requires a mental state of willfulness,” Hur wrote.

Biden rejected the criticism of Hur, saying during a heated press conference on Thursday: “My memory is fine.” Biden also criticised the special counsel for suggesting he could not remember the year his son died.

“The simple truth is I sat for five hours of interviews over two days of events, going back 40 years. At the same time, I was managing an international crisis,” Biden said, in reference to the Palestinian military group Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7.

“Their task was to make a decision about whether to move forward with charges in this case. That was their decision to make. That’s the counsel’s decision to make. That’s his job. And they decided not to move forward. For any extraneous commentary, they don’t know what they’re talking about. It has no place in this report,” Biden said.

Kamala slams special counsel’s claim

Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris, trusted lieutenant and running mate of President Joe Biden in 2024 presidential elections, is using her outreach and clout with African Americans, Hispanics and Asians and Indians in tandem with the White House working overtime in damage control exercise to discredit a special counsel’s claims that Biden suffers from memory loss.

She and the White House have dismissed the Trump appointed special counsel Robert Hur’s report on classified documents, that Hur charged Biden took home when he was vice president under then President Barack Obama, as inaccurate, out of bounds and politically motivated.

President Biden reacted emotionally to the charges on his son’s death, telling Hur that he damned well knew well and was shattered by his son’s death and he (Hur) should have stayed out of it. Hur’s uncharacteristic remarks about Biden’s memory loss touched a raw nerve in the president.

“As a former prosecutor, the comments that were made by that prosecutor: gratuitous, inaccurate and inappropriate,” said Vice President Kamala Harris, who previously served as California’s attorney general.

“The way that the president’s demeanour in that report was characterised could not be more wrong on the facts, and clearly politically motivated,” said Harris, addressing the report after speaking at a White House event on gun violence prevention.

US,UK Launch Airstrikes on Houthi Targets in Yemen’s Hodeidah Port

Eyewitnesses said the strikes on Saturday afternoon targetted the Houthi-controlled maritime military base, Xinhua news agency reported…reports Asian Lite News

The US and Britain launched new airstrikes on Houthi targets in Yemen’s Red Sea port city of Hodeidah, the media reported.

The airstrikes hit the Al-Salif port of the Al-Salif district, northwest of the city, the Houthi-run al-Masirah TV said on Saturday, without providing more details.

Eyewitnesses said the strikes on Saturday afternoon targetted the Houthi-controlled maritime military base, Xinhua news agency reported.

The strikes, which followed US attacks on two Houthi mobile unmanned surface vessels, four mobile anti-ship cruise missiles, and one mobile land attack cruise missile on Friday, were the latest in a series of similar attacks conducted by the US-British coalition in the Red Sea against Houthi targets since November last year.

The Houthis, who control much of northern Yemen, including the strategic port city of Hodeidah along the Red Sea, have been launching deadly missile attacks on commercial vessels since mid-November last year, saying they target Israeli, US, and British vessels, in support of the Palestinians in Gaza.

Biden Suffers Gaffe Again

Biden made the remarks during a press conference after a Special Counsel report said that Biden was a “well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.”…reports Asian Lite News

US President Joe Biden made a serious gaffe when he called Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi as “the president of Mexico” during a press conference in the White House, The Hill reported.

He made the remarks during a press conference after a Special Counsel report said that Biden was a “well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.”

Biden was found in the report by Justice Department Special Counsel Robert Hur to have “wilfully retained and disclosed classified materials” related to military and foreign policy in Afghanistan after serving as vice-president until 2017.

In response to question about the humanitarian aid into Gaza through Egypt, Biden mistakenly called Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi as the “President of Mexico.”

Biden said, “I think as you know initially, the president of Mexico, El-Sisi, did not want to open up the gate to humanitarian material to get in. I talked to him. I convinced him to open the gate.”

The report references showcased apparent lapses in memory from the US President. One reporter asked Biden, “How bad is your memory and can you continue as president?” In response, the US President said, “My memory is so bad I let you speak.”

Another reporter asked Biden if he believed his memory had worsened. Biden responded, “My memory is fine. Take a look at what I’ve done since I became president. None of you thought could I pass any of the things I got passed. How did that happen? I guess I just forgot what was going on,” as reported by CNN.

Biden hit back against special counsel Robert Hur’s description of why he was not charged. Hur described the US President as potentially being seen by a jury as a “well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.”

Biden said, “I am well-meaning. And I’m an elderly man. And I know what the hell I’m doing. I’ve been President – I put this country back on its feet. I don’t need his recommendation,” according to CNN report.

In his remarks, Biden said he is pleased that special counsel Robert Hur “reached a firm conclusion that no charges should be brought against me in this case.”

The US President said, “The special counsel acknowledged I cooperated completely. I did not throw up any roadblocks. I sought no delays.” He said that he cooperated with the investigation and sat for a five hour interview over two days in October, “even though Israel had just been attacked by Hamas.”

It is not the first time Biden has confused two leaders. Earlier on Sunday, Biden appeared to mix up French President Emmanuel Macron with France’s Former President Francois Mitterrand, who died in 1996, The Hill reported.

The apparent mix-up took place during a campaign event in Las Vegas on Sunday. During the event, Biden recalled a Group of Seven (G7) meeting he attended after being elected in 2020.

Biden said one of the first things he said during the meeting was “America is back.” He added that he received a prompt a response from “Mitterrand from Germany,” before correcting it to “from France.”

Biden said, “And Mitterand from Germany — I mean, from France — looked at me and said … ‘You know, what — why, how long you back for?” Biden said, according to The Hill report.

“And I looked at him, and … the chancellor of Germany said, ‘What would you say, Mr. President, if you picked up the paper tomorrow in the London Times, and London Times said, “A thousand people break through the House of Commons, break down the doors, two Bobbies are killed in order to stop the election of the prime minister.” What would you say?'”

As per The Hill report, the White House later mentioned the remarks, with the name Mitterand crossed out and replaced with Macron. (ANI)

Putin Blames US for Nord Stream Blasts

Putin said that such a blast can only be done by someone who is “interested” and who is “capable” of pulling off an attack like this…reports Asian Lite News

Russian President Vladimir Putin accused the United States and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the explosions of the Nord Stream pipelines, which cut off a major route for Russian gas exports to Europe, fueling geopolitical tensions.

He said that such a blast can only be done by someone who is “interested” and who is “capable” of pulling off an attack like this.

In an interview with ex-Fox News journalist, Tucker Carlson, Putin said, “I won’t get into details, but people always say in such cases: ‘Look for someone who is interested’. But in this case, we should not only look for someone who is interested but also for someone who has capabilities.”

Nord Stream gas pipelines were attacked in the Baltic Sea in September 2022, cutting off a major route for Russian gas exports to Europe and fuelling geopolitical tensions.

“Because there may be many people interested, but not all of them are capable of sinking to the bottom of the Baltic Sea and carrying out this explosion. These two components should be connected: who is interested and who is capable of doing it,” he said, as quoted by the transcript by the Russian Presidency.

On being asked why Germany — which sustained huge economic impact from the incident, is not responding much to it, the Russian President said that today’s German leadership is guided by “collective West” rather than its own ‘national interests.’

He also suggested that Russia is ready to supply gas to Europe through the Nord Stream-2, but Germany has not opened it.

“After all, it is not only about Nord Stream-1, which was blown up, and Nord Stream-2, which was damaged, but one pipe is safe and sound, and gas can be supplied to Europe through it, but Germany does not open it. We are ready, please,” Putin said.

On September 27, 2022, Nord Stream AG reported “unprecedented damage” that took place on three lines of Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines. Swedish seismologists registered two explosions that occurred on September 26 near the pipeline route, TASS reported.

Notably, Russia has accused the US of staging the explosions, which they have described as a “terror attack.” However, the US has denied any involvement.

In March 2023, German media claimed that a pro-Ukraine group had sabotaged the pipelines using a vessel that set out from the port of Rostock. Ukraine rejected suggestions it might have ordered the attack, and German officials voiced caution over the report, Al Jazeera reported.

Recently, Sweden said it had closed an investigation into the 2022 explosions that crippled Russia’s Nord Stream pipelines.

The Swedish authorities, who have previously said that they suspect an unknown state actor of responsibility, said that they are halting the probe after verifying that the case does not fall under its jurisdiction, as reported by Al Jazeera. (ANI)

Trump Sweeps Nevada Republican Caucuses

Even as the race lacked the usual suspense due to Trump’s dominant presence, his win in Nevada appeared almost predetermined….reports Asian Lite News

In a decisive triumph, former President Donald J Trump clinched victory in Nevada’s Republican caucuses, a result largely expected given his uncontested status as the sole major candidate on the ballot, The New York Times (NYT) reported.

Trump was declared the winner following the closure of caucus sites, marking his fourth consecutive success in the Republican nominating contests this year.

Even as the race lacked the usual suspense due to Trump’s dominant presence, his win in Nevada appeared almost predetermined. Notably, his primary rival, Nikki Haley, had chosen to forgo the caucuses months ago, participating instead in a primary election on Tuesday as mandated by state law. However, the results of that election showcased a significant preference for “None of These Candidates” over Haley, underscoring a clear rejection by Republican voters, the NYT report added.

Despite her victory in the primary, Haley’s underwhelming performance raised questions about the impact of her candidature. The Nevada Republican Party, led by a staunch Trump ally, had decided to allocate presidential delegates solely based on the caucuses, sidelining the primary results.

Trump’s symbolic triumph on Tuesday aligns with the strategic push by his supporters in Nevada, demonstrating his continued influence among Republicans in the state. This victory, though expected, remains a crucial acquisition, allowing Trump to accumulate delegates and build momentum as attention shifts to the upcoming South Carolina primary on February 24, where he faces another challenge from Haley.

The day unfolded with additional wins for Trump, including the US Virgin Islands caucuses, where he secured an overwhelming 73 percent of the vote, overshadowing Haley once again. Throughout, Trump’s campaign urged Haley to exit the race, citing his rising delegate count and commanding lead in polls as evidence of her diminishing chances, according to NYT.

Trump, during a news conference at Mar-a-Lago, expressed bewilderment over Haley’s persistence in the race, asserting that it hurts both the party and the country. The ongoing campaign, according to Trump’s team, diverts valuable time and resources that could be better utilised against President Biden, who faces minimal opposition in the Democratic primary.

Despite the limited number of campaign events in Nevada, Trump’s focus remained on November, positioning the state as a battleground. He utilised his speeches to galvanise grassroots support and test messaging aimed at challenging Democrats’ traditional base, particularly the union workforce and Hispanic voters.

While Trump’s attention on issues like immigration and economic achievements appealed to his base, making inroads with Hispanic and Black Americans remains crucial for a potential electoral turnaround in Nevada. Nevertheless, Trump’s enduring popularity among Nevada Republicans, coupled with his past victories in the state, bodes well for his electoral prospects.

The chairman of Nevada’s Republican Party, Michael J McDonald, a fervent Trump ally, faced accusations that the caucus setup favoured Trump. His close ties to Trump and past involvement in baseless claims of voter fraud added to the controversy surrounding the caucus organisation.

The Nevada caucuses, marred by allegations of bias and controversies, culminated in Trump’s expected triumph, solidifying his position as a formidable force within the Republican Party as the focus now shifts to future primary battles, the NYT reported. (ANI)

Haley: US to Have Female President, Either Her or Kamala Harris

Haley first spoke about the US having a female president during a meet and greet at a Columbia barbeque restaurant last week….reports Asian Lite News

Fresh out of her stinging loss in the Nevada primary, a confident Nikki Haley has reiterated that the US will have a female president in 2024 — either her or Vice President Kamala Harris — both Indian-Americans.

“This is about the fact that we are going to have a female President of the US. It will either be me or it will be Kamala Harris,” the Republican presidential aspirant told Fox News @ Night on Thursday.

Following her first Republican presidential debate last year, Haley had said that the thought of having Harris as president “should send a chill up every American spine”, adding that a vote for President Joe Biden is a vote for Harris.

Haley first spoke about the US having a female president during a meet and greet at a Columbia barbeque restaurant last week.

“We will have a female president of the US,” Haley told a gathering of about 100 people at Doc’s BBQ, which booed when she said, “the hard truth is it’s going to be me or Kamala Harris”.

According to a Morning Consult survey, 33 per cent of voters said they hold a positive view of Haley, while 40 per cent said they have an unfavorable view of her, which equates to a net favorability rating of negative 7.

As for Harris, 37 per cent of respondents held a favorable view, while 56 had a negative view of her, resulting in a net favorability rating of negative 19, a Newsweek report said, citing the survey.

Speaking to Fox News, Haley said her rival and Republican frontrunner Donald Trump cannot win the general election, moments after the US Supreme Court finished hearing arguments in a landmark legal case to decide whether the former president can be on the ballot in November’s election.

“He can’t win a general election. That’s a fact. We lost in 2018. We lost in 2020. We lost in 2022… he;s got a year’s worth of court cases yet… Everything he touches is chaos, and we continue to lose,” Haley told the news channel.

Having voted for Trump twice and “proud” to serve in his administration as UN ambassador, Haley asked, “How many more times do we have to lose before we realise that is the problem?”

The lone woman in the 2024 White House race said that the US cannot be a country in disarray in a world on fire and go through four more years of chaos. “We won’t survive it,” she said.

Trump won Nevada’s Republican caucuses after being the only major candidate to participate and said that Haley continuing with the 2024 presidential run “hurts” the party as well as the country.

Addressing reporters outside his Mar-a-Lago residence on Thursday, the septuagenarian highlighted Haley’s losses in Iowa, New Hampshire, and Nevada.

“I don’t know why she continues. I don’t really care if she continues… but let her continue. We have a big win coming up, as you know, in South Carolina, and the polls are indicating that we’re through the roof on that one”.

Haley ran in Nevada’s symbolic state-run presidential primary on Tuesday where voters chose ‘none of these candidates’ over her.

While speaking to Fox News, she insisted after these results that the whole thing was “rigged” for Trump.

“Nevada — it’s such a scam. They were supposed to have a primary. Trump rigged it so the GOP chairman — who’s been indicted — would go and create a caucus,” Haley said.

Following her Nevada loss, Haley said her campaign is in “full steam ahead in South Carolina and beyond”.

Trump’s Nevada victory gives him all 26 of the state’s delegates, and the 77-year-old needs to accrue 1,215 delegates to formally clinch GOP’s presidential nomination.
