Throughout EXPO 2020 Dubai, the Art and Cultural Development Foundation of Uzbekistan, the official partner of the Uzbekistan pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, will hold several events to promote the country and its potential.

Expo 2020 Dubai is set to receive 25 million visitors from all over the world during its six-month duration until it closes on 31st March, 2022.

SAIDA MIRZIYOYEVA, DEPUTY CHAIRPERSON OF THE COUNCIL OF THE ARTS AND CULTURE DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION: “Today when Uzbekistan is open to the world and ready to adopt positive experience and gladly share our own, we are laying a new foundation for the effective promotion of Uzbekistan’s cultural potential in the international arena. In 2022, we will mark the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and the UAE. These have been three fruitful decades that taught us to trust each other, inspire each other for new achievements and interact at different levels and in different spheres.”

Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Director-General of the Government of Dubai Media Office, Vice President of the UAE Gender Balance Council, said, “EXPO2020 Dubai is a truly global platform that brings together the best achievements and minds from 191 countries. The event also coincides with the UAE’s golden jubilee, and this is a fitting time to highlight our past national achievements and our plans for the next fifty years and beyond. Celebrating our golden jubilee with the whole world prompts us to look to the future with confidence, knowing that we have the imagination and capability to shape a future that is better for all.”

Al Marri said, “We welcome Uzbekistan as our guest and we recognise the hard work of The Art and Culture Development Foundation initiatives here in Dubai. This programme and pavilion enhance bilateral cooperation between our two nations across several priority areas and reflects solidarity between the leadership and the people of both the UAE and Uzbekistan.”

The Uzbek cultural programme at Expo 2020 Dubai will include the international premiere of the ballet “Lazgi – Dance of Soul and Love” at the Dubai Opera on 27th November, 2021. It brings the ballet of Uzbekistan to a new level and begins its first tour around the world.

On 29th November, 2021, there is a session of the Republic of Uzbekistan on “The Role of Women in the Modernisation of Social Life” at the Women’s Pavilion of EXPO 2020 Dubai.

On 30th November, 2021, Pianist Bekhzod Abduraimov will perform at a concert in Jubilee Park at EXPO 2020 Dubai. The pianist will perform popular classical works by Liszt, Beethoven, Chopin, Mussorgsky, Prokofiev, and Tchaikovsky.

From 19th to 21st December, 2021, the Art and Culture Development Foundation will participate in the “Al Burda” festival within the framework of EXPO 2020 Dubai.

A high-level delegation of ministers and industry leaders from the United Arab Emirates are confirmed to participate at the fourth edition of the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit (#GMIS2021), which will be held from November 22-27 at the Dubai Exhibition Centre at EXPO 2020.

UAE commits to lead disruptive growth of key industrial sectors

This aims to reflect country’s commitment of building an advanced manufacturing sector underpinned by advanced technologies and Fourth Industrial Revolution solutions.

Co-chaired by the UAE Ministry of Industry Advanced Technology and the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation, #GMIS2021 will convene over 45 UAE policymakers and industry leaders, alongside over 250 international speakers, to engage in 70 sessions.

Under the theme, ‘Rewiring Societies: Repurposing Digitalisation for Prosperity’, discussions at the Summit will explore how data and connectivity are becoming the leading factors shaping the future of supply chains, green manufacturing, sustainable energy, climate action, policymaking, and resilient global economies.

Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, and LI Yong, Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), in their capacity as co-chairs of the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit, will give keynote addresses at the opening ceremony on the first day of the Summit.

Khaldoon Al Mubarak, Managing Director and Group CEO of Mubadala, will conduct a one-on-one fireside chat titled ‘Investing in the leading edge of innovation’ moderated by John Defterios, former CNN anchor.

Shamma bint Suhail Faris Al Mazrui, UAE Minister of State for Youth will introduce and open the Global Prosperity Conference, while Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Cultural Advisor to the President of the UAE and Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), will deliver a keynote titled ‘Springboard to Prosperity’, and Sarah bint Yousef Al Amiri, Minister of State for Advanced Technology and Chairwoman of the UAE Space Agency will offer insights on a panel related to Society 5.0.

On November 24, Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary, Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, will conduct a fireside chat at the Green Chain conference.

The UAE policymakers will be joined by leading industry leaders and experts who will share their insights and engage in keynote addresses and panel discussions during the Summit, including Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the UAE’s Roads and Transport Authority, and Eng. Awaidha Murshed Al Marar, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Department of Energy.

With special emphasis on the Summit’s host country, a dedicated session will explore how the UAE’s National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology, ‘Operation 300bn’, aims to transform the nation into a diversified, industrial economy over the next 30 years. The National Strategy stems from an integrated vision of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology to develop the UAE industrial sector and establish the UAE as a global hub for future industries. Saeed Ghumran Al Remeithi, CEO of Emirates Steel; Abdaullah Al Shamsi, Assistant Undersecretary for Industry Growth Sector at the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology; Abdulnasser bin Kalban, CEO of Emirates Global Aluminium; Khaleefa Yousef Al Mheiri, Acting CEO of TA’ZIZ; Ahmed Mohamed Al Naqbi, CEO of Emirates Development Bank; and Saud Abu Al-Shawareb, Managing Director of Dubai Industrial City; will join the discussion on ways to safeguard public health, advance sustainable economic growth, deploy clean energy solutions, drive industrial innovation, and promote responsible consumption and production.

#GMIS2021 is being held during the six-day GMIS Week which will take place from November 22-27 at EXPO’s Dubai Exhibition Centre, featuring over 250 global speakers.

World School Chess Tournament finals to be held at Expo 2020 Dubai

The Spain Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai is hosting the World School Chess Tournament from 25th to 29th November…reports Asian Lite NEWS

About 108 young participants from 10 countries, grouped in 12 teams, are the finalists of the one-year event initiated with 2,600 contestants from over 54 countries.

World Champion Magnus Carlsen from Norway and his opponent Ian Niepómniachi from Russia have confirmed their presence and will pose with the 108 finalists. In addition, the world’s best chess player in history, Judit Polgar from Hungary will do the kick-off on 25th November, according to the organisers.

World School Chess Tournament finals to be held at Expo 2020 Dubai

The tournament will be arbitrated by Javier Pérez Llera under the supervision of the Spain Pavilion’s Executive Commissioner, Carmen Bueno. The technical director of the tournament is Marcelino Sión.

Speaking on the occasion, Leontxo García, Spain Chess commissioner said, “To achieve 2,600 players under the age of 16, from 54 countries in 2020, with the majority of schools in the world closed, was not an easy task. However, being one of the few sports that can be practised online helped a lot in the middle of the pandemic”.

The twelve teams made up of five official members and four substitutes will be divided into two groups to play a one-round league. Among those 108 players are two of the world’s greatest chess promises from India: Rameshababu Praggnanandhaa, 16; and Dommaraju Gukesh, 15.

Participating in the first-ever world Expo hosted by an Arab country is a privilege that the Spain Pavilion wanted to honour by highlighting some of the historical links between the country and the Arab culture, such as chess.

Originally from the south Indian continent, Arabic chess arrived in Spain in the 8th century, where the modern one was developed at the end of the 15th century.

Visitors at the Pavilion will find a giant floorboard and several tables for them to play, all surrounded by a 22-metre wall that narrates the history of the game and its role in connecting the two cultures.

Chess as an educational tool will also be present at the education seminar co-organised by the Spanish Pavilion from December 14th to 16th.

The Spain Pavilion managed by Acción Cultural Española (AC / E) launched the World School Tournament in 2020 through Chess24, an international online chess platform that is in charge of bringing the telematics phase of the tournament, said the press release. (WAM)

Rajasthan attracts Rs 40,000 crore investments at Expo

The Rajasthan week at the India Pavilion at EXPO 2020 Dubai ended on 18 November. With 18 Letter of Intents (LoI) and 24 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) involving investment of around INR 40,000 crore, the state signed off in style from the World Expo, Dubai.

These investments are proposed in various sectors such as tourism, logistics, petroleum, agri & food processing, e-waste recycling & energy, IT, real estate etc.

The week witnessed series of one-to-one meetings, roundtables, business and media interactions and cultural programmes.

The delegation was led by three Ministers, Mr Shanti Kumar Dhariwal, Minister for Urban Development & Housing: Mr Parsadi Lal Meena, Minister for Industry and Mr Arjun Singh Bamaniya, Minister of State for Industry, Government of Rajasthan.

It also included Ms Rukmani Riar Sihag, Executive Director, Rajasthan State Industrial Development & Investment Corporation Limited (RIICO) & Additional Commissioner, Bureau of Investment Promotion (BIP), Rajasthan; Mr Dhiraj Srivastava, Commissioner, Rajasthan Foundation; Mr Rajiv Arora, President, FORE along with other officers from RIICO, Industries, BIP and Tourism.

Rukmani Riar, Parsadi Lal Meena & Arjun Singh Bamaniya signed an MoU with Shyam Kapur, CEO, Sharaf Group of 150Cr Multi Model Agri Logistics Park.

State government has framed its investor friendly policies like RIPS-2019 and MSME Act to make investors in Dubai aware about the possibilities in Rajasthan for businesses to grow, thrive and succeed. State government has launched one stop shop to ensure ease of doing business.

A high-level delegation from the Rajasthan government was in Dubai to meet the investors during the week and pitch for the investments. To further accelerate the growth of manufacturing and service sectors investment, the Rajasthan Govt. is organizing the mega investment event “Invest Rajasthan-2022” at Jaipur on January 24th  & 25th 2022.

Minister Dhariwal said “There is a lot of scope and business opportunity available at Rajasthan especially in the priority sectors including Tourism & Real Estate. The state Govt’s has taken a series of measures and enabled a 180-degree change in how business is done in Rajasthan.”

“To encourage transparency and ease of doing business, all our systems and processes can be accessed online”, added Dhariwal.

Inviting global investors to invest in Rajasthan, Minister Meena said, “Our participation at Expo 2020 is focused on offering the huge investment opportunities available in the state. “We will ensure, that investors will get the best possible amenities. The government is developing various dedicated industrial areas at subdivision level so that the locals, businesses, investors and youth can get the best opportunities”, he added.

Expo 2020 celebrates visit of 100,000 students

A group of 400 students accompanied by Jameela bint Salem Al Muheiri, Minister of State for Public Education and Chairman of the Emirates Schools Establishment, formed the “100K” sign in front of Terra – The Sustainability Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.

Commenting on celebrating the visit of 100,000 students to Expo 2020 Dubai, Al Muheiri praised the students and the specialised teams at the public schools and the Emirates Schools Establishment headquarter and branches.

She said that the specialised teams’ efforts contributed to the success of the students’ visits to Expo 2020 Dubai, where they were able to explore what the pavilions offer, and learn about various cultural and educational activities. “We see this in the Opportunity Pavilion, or the Sustainability Pavilion or the Opportunity Pavilion for example. In light of those various options that made students ready to adopt future ideas, Expo 2020 has become the most important event in empowering innovative minds and adopting creative opportunities,” she added.

Shanxi Week held at Expo 2020 Dubai

With the theme “Opportunity, Innovation and Cooperation”, the three-day event featured both on-site exchanges and visits as well as online activities of cultural and tourism promotion, exhibition, business matching and investment promotion. Four major events took place throughout the week including the opening ceremony, Shanxi (China) Cloud Promotion on Energy Revolution and Innovation Cooperation (Dubai), the online show, and the Shanxi Local Brands Cloud Exhibition. The activities narrated the story of Shanxi, showcasing how Shanxi has promoted green transition in its economic and social development and how it has contributed to building “a community with a shared future for mankind”.

The Shanxi Week was unveiled simultaneously at the main venue in the provincial capital Taiyuan, the Dubai venue and via the webcast on the 8th of November.

At the opening ceremony, He Tiancai, Vice Governor of Shanxi Province, delivered a speech on behalf of the Shanxi Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government. Recorded video speeches of Ali Al Dhaheri, UAE Ambassador to China, Najeeb Al-Ali, Executive Director of the Dubai World Expo Bureau, Hamad Al Ali, Member of the “Hala China” Executive Committee, and Chen Jian’an, Vice Chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade were also played at the opening ceremony.

HE TIANCAI, VICE GOVERNOR, SHANXI PROVINCE: “the Expo has become a grand event to showcase the progress of human civilization and to facilitate exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations. The Shanxi Week is a concrete step for Shanxi, the first pilot province for comprehensive energy reform in China, to implement the important consensus reached by president Xi Jinping and the UAE leadership to promote comprehensive and in-depth exchanges and cooperation in the energy field between Shanxi and the Middle East countries, including the UAE, and other countries in the world.”

A promotional video of Shanxi was played at the opening ceremony, showcasing the charm of the province. A cloud tour of the China Pavilion at the Expo was also held, offering a visual and immersive experience for those who cannot visit the Expo in person.

After the opening ceremony, the Shanxi (China) Cloud Promotion on Energy Revolution and Innovation Cooperation (Dubai) was held where four enterprises presented including Jinneng Holding Power Group, Huayang New Material Technology Group Co., Ltd., Taiyuan Heavy Machinery Group Co., Ltd., and State Grid Shanxi Electric Power Company. Their presentations covered five application scenarios of heterojunction technology, high-efficiency photovoltaic product manufacturing, new materials, wind power and big data.

Furthermore, on the 8th of November, the month-long Shanxi Local Brands Cloud Exhibition was also launched on the “Trade Promotion Cloud Exhibition” platform, which aims to help Shanxi local brands explore potential business partners from the Middle East countries, including the UAE through product display, supply and demand matching, online communication and negotiation. 117 Shanxi companies specializing in intangible cultural heritage innovation, biomedicine, clean energy, and equipment manufacturing attended the Cloud Exhibition, including State Grid Shanxi Electric Power Company, Taiyuan Heavy Machinery Group Co., Ltd., and Jinneng Holding Power Group.

Expo 2020 records over 3.5 million visits

Expo 2020 Dubai has announced its latest visitor numbers, with an incredible 3,578,653 individual visits achieved by November’s half-way point, only six weeks into Expo’s six-month run.

Virtual visitation also rose to 15.7 million since 1st October.

The announcement comes after a packed weekend at the site, with stellar music, sport and cultural performances taking place.

And more is on the way. Expo’s fourth Theme Week, with debates and panel discussions centred around Tolerance and Inclusivity, got under way on Sunday, and will feature talent and performances from a range of cultures and backgrounds.

The highlight is Expo’s all-female Firdaus Orchestra, which will perform music from world cinema and TV on International Day for Tolerance on 16th November, and take to the stage again on World Children’s Day on 20th November in a show that will encourage children to explore, thrive and connect with musical pieces they know and love, such as classics from Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin.

Earlier this month, Expo 2020 Dubai marked the UAE Flag Day, which saw Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, raising the national flag; Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Honour Day (OIC); and the Expo 2020 National Days of Antigua and Barbuda, Indonesia, Colombia, and the Netherlands, which included a visit from Dutch royalty King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima.

Countless star acts have added their names to the awe-inspiring roll call of performers to date at Expo 2020 – among the big-name guests gracing Expo stages was Riverdance, the world-famous Irish dance sensation. The group’s shows at Expo will run throughout November.

Expo’s Diwali celebrations featured a strong entertainment line-up, with the Hindu festival celebrated by acts such as India’s Salim and Sulaiman Merchant, and Bollywood playback singer Vipul Mehta. Late Nights @ Expo also hosted a series of music events to commemorate the festival of lights, including a special showcase from Indian rapper Badshah.

Visitors thronged a temporary circuit at Expo 2020 as the world’s best cyclists contested Giro d’Italia Criterium – the first-ever official sporting event to be staged at a World Expo. In a nail-biting finish, Slovakia’s Peter Sagan pipped Colombia’s Egan Bernal to first place.

Urban & Rural Development Week was launched on World Cities Day on 31st October and concluded on 6th November with the announcement that more than 120 of Expo 2020’s permanent buildings have been Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified. The week included a special Women’s World Majlis reimaging what cities and villages would look like had they been designed by women, and the launch of the Last Mile Delivery Roadmap, a blueprint for making informal settlements safe and sustainable.

The line-up of attractions at Expo 2020 shows no signs of slowing down: Nancy Ajram and Ragheb Alama will unite the world through the power of music, at Al Wasl Plaza and broadcast around the world, when they co-headline the second Infinite Nights show on 12th November. On the same day, K-pop concert KITE will welcome acts including Highlight and Punch.

Al Wasl will also play host to the Expo Young Stars programme until the 17th November, which will showcase talented young students from across the UAE.

On 13th November, visitors will be treated to an appearance from one of the best athletes in history, Usain Bolt – an 11-time world champion, eight-time Olympic gold medallist and holder of multiple world records – who will lead a Family Run.

Expo visitors have even more reason to explore the site during the coming month, with the launch of the Explore Expo 2020 Dubai, Explore the World special raffle to win one million Emirates Skywards miles and a host of other prizes rewarding those who visit as many Country Pavilions as possible.

Industry, business leaders to gather at GMIS2021

The fourth edition of the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit (GMIS2021) will be held at EXPO’s Dubai Exhibition Centre from November 22-23, followed by side-events and conferences from November 24-27…reports Asian Lite News

The GMIS2021 will convene chief executive officers and senior leaders from some of the largest global and local corporations to explore the latest advances in manufacturing technologies as organisations around the world continue to rapidly embrace digitalisation, shape new business models, and revitalise operations.

Rajasthan Pavilion to be inaugurated today at Dubai Expo

The Rajasthan Pavilion will be inaugurated inside the Indian Pavilion at the Dubai Expo…reports Asian Lite News

A delegation of Rajasthan Government, represented by state Urban Development and Housing Minister Shanti Dhariwal, Industries Minister Parsadi Lal Meena and Minister of State for Industries Arjun Singh Bamnia, is participating in the expo to attract investments in the state.

Senior officers of various departments including Industries and Commerce Department will also participate in the programme, which will continue till November 18.

Industries and Commerce Commissioner Archana Singh said that Rajasthan is emerging as a ‘better investment destination’. Investors will be made aware of the investment possibilities in Rajasthan at the Dubai Expo.

Also, invites will also be made for the Invest Rajasthan, to be held on 24th and 25th January, 2022. Apart from this, a road show will also be organized in Dubai on November 15.

She said that special attention is being given to sectors like Agro & Agro Processing, EV, Chemicals & Petrochemicals, ESDM, Tourism, Medical & Health, Mines, Minerals & Ceramics, Renewable Energy, Textiles in Rajasthan.

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, met with Prince of Monaco Albert II at the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2020…reports Asian Lite News

The meeting was attended by H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; Reem Al Hashemy, Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director General, Expo 2020 Dubai; Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs; Dr Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of State for Entrepreneurship and SMEs; and Sarah bint Yousef Al Amiri, UAE Minister of State for Advanced Technology.

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed welcomed the Prince of Monaco and his accompanying delegation and expressed his wish that the two nations will be able to expand cooperation in various future-oriented sectors.

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed accompanied the Prince of Monaco on a tour of the UAE Pavilion and discussed ways of strengthening bilateral relations and expanding economic, investment and cultural ties.

Prince Albert II of Monaco praised the progress the UAE has attained in various fields and its unique sustainable development model that focuses on the growth of vital sectors that are shaping the future of our world. He stressed on the importance of taking advantage of the exceptional opportunities offered by Expo 2020 Dubai to advance global development and build a more prosperous future for the planet.

Sheikh Hamdan also toured the Monaco Pavilion at Expo 2020, where he was briefed on the design theme of the Monaco Pavilion, which is inspired by the ‘Rock of Monaco’, a gem-like polygonal structure that reflects the country’s national, cultural and environmental identity, as well as its extensive experience in education, construction, science, power generation and other vital sectors.

The Dubai Crown Prince and Prince Albert II of Monaco witnessed the signing of an agreement on the avoidance of double taxation between the UAE and Monaco. The agreement was signed by Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, UAE’s Minister of State for Financial Affairs, and Monaco’s Minister of Finance and Economy. (WAM)
