Congress poster girl to join BJP

Maurya said she has been relentlessly working in the Sarojini Nagar Vidhan Sabha constituency for over a year, but was denied a ticket…reports Asian Lite News

Priyanka Maurya, the face of Congress ‘Ladki Hoon, Lad Sakti Hoon’ poster in Uttar Pradesh, may join the BJP soon.

BJP sources said that she visited the party headquarters in Lucknow on Wednesday, triggering speculation of her joining the saffron party.

Maurya said, ‘Ladki Hoon Lad Sakti Hoon’ has been rendered as a mere slogan because “as a ‘ladki’, I was not allowed to contest elections because I could not pay bribe’.

She claimed that instead of giving the ticket to her, it was given to a person who joined the party just a month back.

“I completed all formalities but the ticket was pre-planned and was given to a person who came just a month back. I want to send this message to Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi that such things are happening on the ground,” said Maurya.

Maurya said she has been relentlessly working in the Sarojini Nagar Vidhan Sabha constituency for over a year, but was denied a ticket.

“We were used as a pawn to woo women and people from the backward community. Very soon you will see me and members of my community with the BJP,” she said.

Maurya’s social media profile, categorically describes her as Mahila Congress vice-president, doctor and social worker. It also refers to 170, Sarojini Nagar Vidhan Sabha, an Assembly seat in Lucknow.

In a ‘pinned’ tweet posted on January 14, Maurya alleged Congress’ ‘Ladki Hoon Lad Sakti Hoon’ campaign was nothing, but a hoax. “People will say if you do not get the ticket, then you are bound to say this. Investigate and find out yourself. We were told to prepare for 2024. Congress has not been able to beat the ‘jumlas’ of BJP,” she said in the tweet.

Girl who tried to end life scores highest in supplementary exams

Greeshma, a student of Alvas school of Mudibidare, scored 599 marks out of a total of 625 marks in the examinations…reports Asian Lite News.

A Karnataka SSLC (Class 10) girl student, who had attempted to commit suicide at being denied the opportunity to appear in annual examinations, has managed to score maximum marks in the supplementary exams last month. Greeshma, a student of Alvas school of Mudibidare, scored 599 marks out of a total of 625 marks in the examinations. Among 53,155 students who took the exams, she scored the highest marks.

Greeshma, who had scored 95 per cent in Class 9, was not issued a hall ticket for the SSLC exams as she could not pay the fee of the school. The parents came to know about this when they had tried to enrol her for the exams. Appeals to the Deputy Director for Public Instruction (DDPI) and the Education Minister were of no avail.
A heartbroken Greeshma had attempted to commit suicide on July 17 at her residence. However, timely treatment had saved her life. The incident had made headlines as the Karnataka government was all set to hold SSLC examinations amid the challenge of the Covid pandemic in the state.
After coming to know about the incident, then Education Minister Suresh Kumar had rushed to her residence and spoken to her. He had asked Greeshma to be brave and assured of giving an opportunity for her to write the SSLC exams during supplementary examinations.
Suresh Kumar had further asked her to focus on her studies without worrying too much about what happened.

After the results, an elated Suresh Kumar congratulated her.
“Greeshma, has become a model for others. She did not get diverted from the commitment. Greeshma has achieved what she aspired for,” he said.
“I had been to Greeshma’s residence. I had given her courage and promised that it is my responsibility to give her the opportunity to take supplementary exams. I have also asked her to prepare for it without worrying. Even after I was dropped from the cabinet, I kept in touch with the Commissioner, SSLC Board Directors, Deputy Director of Madhugiri Academic district and Heads of Alva’s institute to ensure Greeshma attended exams. After getting to know about the results and her achievement, my mind is relaxed now.”

Greeshma stated that she is very happy with the results and thanked everyone who helped her to take exams. “I committed a mistake earlier. I had prepared for well the exams,” she added. Deceased girl becomes ‘beacon of hope’ by donating organs

The retrieved corneas on transplantation will restore the sight of two corneal blind patients here…reports Asian Lite News.

A 13-year-old girl who passed away has become a beacon of hope with her parents’ decision to go for organ donation, saving the lives of four patients battling for survival after suffering from end-stage organ failure.

One of the patients belong to Mumbai, while three were treated at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) here.

The retrieved corneas on transplantation will restore the sight of two corneal blind patients here.

Expressing indebtedness to the donor family, PGIMER Director Jagat Ram said, “It is an extremely hard decision, but the donor families are a ray of hope, a silver lining in the dark lives of organ failure patients. It is through their generous gifts that hundreds of people each year are given a second chance at life.”

The Director further shared, “At the same time, we cannot underestimate the commitment of the entire team of PGIMER involved in the process, right from the brain death certification committee, transplant coordinators, testing labs, treating doctors and especially the intensivists, who maintain the potential donor in the best condition for optimum usage of organs, and the transplant surgeons who save precious lives with their skill and synergy.”

It was the fateful day of July 8 when the donor girl from Chandigarh became unconscious due to cerebral oedema and was rushed to the Government Multi-Specialty Hospital in Sector 16. However, due to a worsening prognosis, she was shifted to the PGIMER in an extremely critical condition the next day.

But all efforts of the family and doctors could not deter the dark tragedy as the little girl’s 10-day struggle between life and death came to a halt as she could not be revived and was subsequently declared brain dead on July 18.

When it became clear that the girl would not come out of her precarious condition, the transplant coordinators at the PGIMER approached the grief-stricken father to request if he could consider organ donation. The resolute father showcased immense grit and consented to organ donation.

The father, who wants to keep his identity anonymous due to his personal sentiments, said, “It’s something no family should have to go through. We said ‘yes’ to organ donation because we knew this could help someone else and they wouldn’t need to go through the heartache that we were going through. We knew it was the right thing to do.

“We just want people to know about the cause and not who did it, as we have done it so that our daughter re- lives through others. We have done it for our own peace and solace. We hope our daughter’s story will inspire the families who find themselves in the same position.

“We want to aware people on organ donation to realize that death is not the end of things, as people can live on through others, through organ donation.”

PGIMER Additional Medical Superintendent and acting Nodal Officer of ROTTO (North), Ashok Kumar, while detailing about the latest case, said, “As the donor family wanted their daughter to relive in others, it became our moral duty to respect their wish. Following the family’s consent, we secured her heart, liver, kidneys, and corneas.

“Once the donor organs became available, everyone swiftly got into action leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the donor’s legacy continues. As the cross-matching indicated no matching recipient for heart in PGIMER, we immediately got in touch with other transplant hospitals to explore the options for matching the recipients, and finally, the heart was allocated to Sir H.N. Reliance Hospital, Mumbai, with the intervention of NOTTO.”

Elaborating about the Green Corridors created for the case, Kumar said, “To ensure safe and speedy transportation of the harvested organs, a Green Corridor was created in conjunction with the retrieval timings from the PGIMER to the Technical Airport in Chandigarh at around 6.35 a.m. for the transportation of the retrieved heart for the onward flight to Mumbai.”
