Hrithik’s nostalgic look back at ‘Koi…Mil Gaya

“Since then there have been multiple roles be it ‘Krrish’, ‘Agneepath’, ‘Guzaarish’, ‘Kaabil’, ‘Super 30’ or ‘Vikram Vedha’, all these films have pushed me to tap my potential,” he said…reports Asian Lite News

It has been two decades of sci-fi film ‘Koi…Mil Gaya’, and the lead actor Hrithik Roshan says his character ‘Rohit’ helped him connect with his inner child, and reconnect with his innocence and vulnerabilities.

The movie revolved around Rohit (Hrithik Roshan), a developmentally disabled man who contacts an extraterrestrial being (Jaadoo) with his late father Sanjay’s (Rakesh Roshan) computer. The film follows his relationship with Nisha (Preity G Zinta), Rohit’s friend, who falls in love with him.

Reminiscing the memories from the shoot of the movie, Hrithik told IANS: ” ‘Koi…Mil Gaya’ helped me relive my childhood. While playing Rohit’s character I connected with my inner-child, reconnected with my innocence and vulnerabilities, that’s what makes me nostalgic.”

The actor added that he definitely misses ‘Jaadoo’ a lot too.

If he still considers ‘Rohit’ as the ‘most challenging’ role of his career?

Hrithik, who is also referred as the ‘Greek God of Bollywood’ by his fans, said: “Rohit definitely was one of my most challenging roles in the beginning of my career. It was a character that unleashed a desire to be part of films that stimulated me as an actor.”

“Since then there have been multiple roles be it ‘Krrish’, ‘Agneepath’, ‘Guzaarish’, ‘Kaabil’, ‘Super 30’ or ‘Vikram Vedha’, all these films have pushed me to tap my potential,” he said.

Talking about the relationship portrayed between Rohit and Nisha in the movie, Hrithik said: “I think Rohit and Nisha’s track has aged very well. Preity’s character Nisha was a deeply sensitive young woman who was the only girl close to Rohit’s age who understood him and treated him as an equal.”

“I think Nisha as a character was ahead of its time, and Preity portrayed it beautifully,” he shared.

The ‘Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai’ fame actor said his 23 years of journey has been very fulfilling, adding that, “There are no regrets, only learnings and with each learning I’ve only grown as an actor and human being.”

‘Koi…Mil Gaya’ was re-released in the theatres on August 4.

Directed and Produced by Rakesh Roshan, the flick starred Rekha, Johnny Lever, Rajat Bedi, Prem Chopra and child artists Hansika Motwani, Anuj Pandit Sharma in pivotal roles.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Hrithik next has aerial action movie ‘Fighter’, which also stars Deepika Padukone and Anil Kapoor.

Hrithik has been terrible in partner work

Hrithik also revealed to IMDb that some of the signature dance steps he enjoyed throughout his career are The Bang Bang title track, Ghungroo from War and It’s Magic from Koia Mil Gaya…reports Asian Lite News

Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan spoke about a dancing style he wishes to learn and said that it is “partner work” he is terrible at.

Hrithik said: “I’ve been terrible in partner work. I feel relaxed when it’s just me, but when it’s partner work, there is a certain synchronising and coordinating, there’s beauty in that. I have never been able to achieve that. I am very fascinated with Ballet. Just the long lines, the expanse and flight of it.”

“I had the opportunity in Guzaarish to train in the dance form and it was an incredible experience. It was like a ball and I was holding the ball and swirling. During the take, I was not able to get three turns – you know, the pirouettes. Finally, after two hours, we had lunch, and then we tried again. In a single take, somehow it happened.”

Hrithik also revealed to IMDb that some of the signature dance steps he enjoyed throughout his career are The Bang Bang title track, Ghungroo from War and It’s Magic from Koia Mil Gaya.

Speaking about his way of working, Hrithik said: “It’s always about the process. I have a favourite process. Anybody who fits in the process, we create amazing things! The process is working with no egos, absolute communication, no feeling bad. And if you’re feeling bad, express it. Be honest and work hard. Give me time to work hard.”

“If you tell someone, I want one month to rehearse, and if it’s coming from me, they will think I’m joking. Prabhu Deva, Farhan in Main Aisa Kyon Hoon (Lakshya), they gave me a month. Mr Bhansali once gave me two months. Once you have time and you have will, you just have to work hard.”

On the work front, the actor will next be seen in ‘Fighter’ along with Deepika Padukone and Anil Kapoor.

Hrithik, Saif shine in this mass entertainer ‘Vikram Vedha’

Duration: 156 minutes, Directors: Pushkar-Gayathri. Cast: Hrithik Roshan, Saif Ali Khan, Radhika Apte, Sharib Hashmi and Rohit Saraf. (Rating: ***1/2)

If Hrithik’s Vedha is the simmering volcano waiting to unleash destruction. then Saif’s tough-as-nails cop Vikram is the tornado that acts as the counter force to Vedha…reviewed by Akshay Acharya

At a time when only content from South India seems to be working at the box office, Bollywood has come up with a story in the form of ‘Vikram Vedha’, which has its roots in a Tamil hit film and a two-hero structure much like the earlier release of this year, ‘RRR’, which turned out to be a blockbuster.

The film, which has two of Bollywood’s best-looking men — Saif Ali Khan and Hrithik Roshan — in titular roles, is a remake of the 2017 Tamil film of the same name, which saw Tamil cinema’s Makkal Selvan (‘national treasure’) Vijay Sethupathi and R. Madhavan in action.

The husband-wife director duo Pushkar-Gayathri, who helmed the original, has steered the Hindi version too, changing the backdrop to Kanpur and Lucknow.

Saif plays the encounter specialist Vikram, who learns about the grey nature of humans and the vehicle for this epiphany is Hrithik’s character of Vedha. This is perhaps the first time that Hrithik plays a menacing gangster on screen, and boy, he does it with absolute finesse!

The actor, who has been mostly cast in urban roles, returns to the grunge and rustic dimensions with Vedha after his 2017 release ‘Super 30’, and seems to be owning the screen, be it in the high-speed shots or the rack focus from his gun-holding arm to his face in his intro.

There are hardly any body shots of Hrithik flexing his muscles, yet he shoulders the film with his portrayal. A little more work on the North Indian accent and diction by the actor, though, could have taken the film a notch higher.

If Hrithik’s Vedha is the simmering volcano waiting to unleash destruction. then Saif’s tough-as-nails cop Vikram is the tornado that acts as the counter force to Vedha.

Their camaraderie on screen is a delight to watch, something that can be summed up with the line, “That’s what happens when a tornado meets a volcano” from Eminem and Rihanna’s track ‘Love The Way You Lie’.

Radhika Apte reunites with her ‘Sacred Games’ co-star Saif. She plays Vedha’s defence lawyer, who is at a cross-roads in her life along with her husband Vikram.

A mass entertainer, the film shows some sturdy technical work, especially the pithy camerawork. The lines between right and wrong blur in the film, so the cinematographer P.S. Vinod effectively brings out the essence of Kanpur and Lucknow as he holds the pulse of the leading lines in his frames.

The Awadhi architecture and the complex lanes of the cities have been so beautifully captured by the cinematographer that he does merit a shoutout: “P.S. (Vinod), we love you.”

The film also features a taut background score, which is very urban in its approach with a generous use of guitars and drums with prominent kick and tom punches.

The music and choreography, though, are the weakest links of the film. The songs obstruct the narrative flow and play absolutely no part in advancing the plot. If the music is forgettable, the choreography is absolutely disastrous. To do that when you have Hrithik performing for the camera is an unforgivable crime.

‘Vikram Vedha’ could further salvage Bollywood’s reputation at the box office after ‘Brahmastra’ if it strikes at the right chords. By the looks of it, it will.
