An array of shades, from black and grey to salmon, mauve, pink, olive, and olive green, livened the colour palette of the collection made from linen, cotton, denim, and ikkat.

Konkona said she feels good wearing the label, Chola. She revealed that it is one label that she owns some pieces of. She called it “unconventional”.

Neha added that her relationship with the designer goes back by more than 15 years and shared that the first piece Mishra designed for her is with her even today.

“Anything she puts together, there is a lot of clarity and is aesthetic. She’s not out there to prove anything to anyone and I feel like her craft talks. She never gets one stitch or one button wrong,” Neha said.

Karishma Tanna Steals the Show as Showstopper at LFW

Japanese vintage ready-to-wear was showcased by a young designer whose collection mostly featured shades of blue and white…reports Asian Lite News

Actress Karishma Tanna turned showstopper for aspiring designers at the Launchpad segment of the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week x FDCI.

A group of fashion and interior designers took over the stage on Wednesday to showcase their collection, a reimagined version of vintage fashion from the 1960s to the 1980s.

The creation that Karishma donned was by a cub designer named Yash Gala from the Inter National Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD). He shared that he is inspired by strong bold looks and “structured garments.”

While talking about Karishma turning showstopper for newbies, Disha Khosla, style mentor from INIFD said that usually stars say no to them.

To this, Karishma replied: “I know how the dream works and I know what passion they have so I like to encourage each and everybody; and when I got to know that I had to walk for a very talented designer, I was very happy.”

Another aspiring designer flaunted a collection from the 1970s fashion, which features rich art and craft from Jaipur.

Japanese vintage ready-to-wear was showcased by a young designer whose collection mostly featured shades of blue and white.

The fourth aspiring designer said that she drew inspiration from herself and her doodles for the eclectic collection.

Lastly, a collection called ‘Checkmate’ was showcased. The USP of the ensembles was that it was made out of leftover fabric from factories and drew its inspiration from the 1960s.

Actress Karishma Tanna is not a big fan of make-up nor fancy outfits in real life. She says that she’s completely the opposite of what she is on screen.

Karishma, who turned showstopper for young designers from a design school at the latest edition of Lakme Fashion Week x FDCI, spoke about how she lives her life off-screen.

She told: “You’ll be shocked.. I’m actually the opposite of what I am on screen and in this industry.”

The actress added that she is living “two lives.”

She said: “I have two lives which I live: one is reel and one is real and when I am in my own life I am totally opposite. I am totally de-glam, I like to not wear make-up, I like to wear jhalla clothes.”

The actress added: “When you’re in front of the camera or in fashion business you have to be completely opposite.”

On the work front, Karishma was last seen onscreen in Hansal Mehta’s ‘Scoop’, a series, which also stars Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and Harman Baweja.

The series followed on Jigna Vora’s biographical memoir ‘Behind Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison.’

Sculpting Beauty

The show will present a vision that is rooted in sculpture and definition, both in beauty and fashion, with AFEW’s Fall-Winter ’24 collection having the designer look at his constant muse i.e. nature as the ultimate sculptor and artist…reports Asian Lite News

The House of Lakmē grand finale for Lakmē Fashion Week in partnership with Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) is all set to witness a spectacular presentation by Rahul Mishra, whose global luxury ready-to-wear label AFEW will debut its Fall-Winter 2024 collection in India. Launched at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, the brand will make its way to the runway on 17th March at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.

Commenting on his upcoming show Rahul Mishra said, “Presenting at Lakmē Fashion Week x FDCI always feels like a homecoming and this time around it’s an honour to showcase our global Easy to wear luxury brand ‘AFEW Rahul Mishra’ for the first time in India. I’m looking forward to presenting my Fall-Winter ’24 collection which draws its inspiration from the House of Lakmē’s MultiSlayer Sticks that will for the wearer define a new approach to beauty, one that is personalised and sculpted to one’s face shape.

“At AFEW Rahul Mishra we have always celebrated our Indian heritage, married to our international take on fashion, and collaborating with Lakmē, is always special and even more so as we come together at the House of Lakmē Grand Finale marking a new era in fashion and beauty, one that is inspired by nature as the ultimate sculptor.”

The show will present a vision that is rooted in sculpture and definition, both in beauty and fashion, with AFEW’s Fall-Winter ’24 collection having the designer look at his constant muse i.e. nature as the ultimate sculptor and artist.

Appreciating the otherwise simple natural forms for their structural personality through a sculptor’s lens, the silhouettes are envisioned in bright solid hues and graphic textures and play with geometric representations that bring to the fore the relation of stone and sculpture.

The inspiration reveals itself in rigid but organic installations of natural forms that consist of vegetal and animal motifs. As a strong reference to his eight-year-old daughter’s influence on his creative endeavours, the visuals are partially influenced by the children’s story, ‘The Fox and the Star’ whose characters appear in the collection amongst other imagined structures.

Siddhartha Bansal in the spotlight at LFW

Sunil Sethi, Chairman FDCI said, “Working with NEXA to bring back yet another season of ‘NEXA presents The Spotlight’ has been a wonderful experience…reports Asian Lite News

At the impressive Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) headquarters in Delhi, a diverse group of designers from all over the nation displayed their collections and show concepts to an esteemed jury of business leaders. The winner, Siddhartha Bansal, will have the opportunity to show at the subsequent Lakmé Fashion Week X FDCI because of his brilliant concept and outstanding collection based on the season’s theme, “Disruption.”

Through “NEXA presents the Spotlight,” NEXA and Lakmé Fashion Week have dedicated themselves to showcasing and fostering new and rising talent in the nation. The subject “Disruption” gives the designer the freedom to make decisions that are ahead of the curve while also being able to defy industry norms and not follow current trends.

The celebrated jury that led the selection process this season included: Nitin Bal Chauhan – designer of his namesake label, Jamal Shaikh, National Editor, Brunch & New Media Initiatives at Hindustan Times, Fashion designer Namrata Joshipura, Sunil Sethi – Chairman of FDCI and Jaspreet Chandok – Head, Fashion & Lifestyle, RISE Worldwide, Shashank Srivastava – Senior Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, Ram Suresh Akella – Executive Director, Marketing at Maruti Suzuki India Limited.

The eight shortlisted and extremely talented designers who competed along with Siddhartha Bansal included – Esha Amiin, Vivek Patel, Countrymade by Sushant Abrol, Line Outline by Deepit Chugh, Quod by Ikshit Pande, Raffughar by Wajahat Rather and The Pot Plant by duo Resham Karmchandani and Sanya Suri. Each of them introduced their labels through a competitive creative expression in line with NEXA’s spirit of ‘create, inspire’ as they presented their collections.

Siddhartha Bansal’s winning collection draws creative inspiration from the designer’s belief that colour is what makes the world beautiful and eclectic. After studying the world of colour he understood the role it plays in arousing one’s mood or garnering a reaction and decided to incorporate that into his ensembles. Whilst bringing his silhouettes to life, he aims at reviving the importance of colour and stimulating one’s emotion with the balanced handling of layers of hues to create each unconventional silhouette. His collection is deeply rooted with the idea of colour being an energy that drives the universe’s soul.

Sunil Sethi, Chairman FDCI said, “Working with NEXA to bring back yet another season of ‘NEXA presents The Spotlight’ has been a wonderful experience.
