 Lulu Group, the leading retail chain in the UAE, announced its comprehensive Ramadan initiatives for 2024, aimed at ensuring price stability, offering enticing promotions, and fostering community engagement during the holy month.

In response to global challenges such as inflation and shipping concerns, Lulu Group has established sourcing centers worldwide to guarantee an uninterrupted supply of essential food products, particularly those relevant to Ramadan. The key focus is on preventing price rises by instructing suppliers and vendors not to increase prices during Ramadan, ensuring affordability for all shoppers.

Up to 60% discount on a range of essential food and grocery products during Ramadan across all LuLu stores in the UAE. Regular weekly promotions and offers will be available across all categories, including food & non-food, which will be published through social media and special promo catalogues. More than 5,000 products will be offered at special prices throughout the Ramadan season, covering categories such as food, groceries, dinnerware, fresh produce, home appliances, electronics, lifestyle products, and furnishings.

To enhance affordability, Lulu Group introduces two sizes of ‘Ramadan Kits’ priced at AED 85 and AED 120, respectively. These kits include rice, sugar, milk powder, instant food, jelly, custard mixes, fruit cordials, pasta, grains, oil, and other essential groceries, providing convenience and value for shoppers during the holy month.

In addition to discounts and promotions, Lulu’s Ramadan campaign includes a ‘sharing is caring’ donation drive, now in its 12th year. Partnering with leading brands in association with Dubai Cares, Lulu will donate Dh1 for every product sold during the month of Ramadan across all LuLu stores.

Lulu is also partnering with the Emirates Red Crescent to donate Ramadan kits and Iftar boxes to people in need.

LuLu Group introduces Shopping Gift Cards exclusively meant for charity purposes, available in denominations of AED 25 and AED 50. These cards can be purchased and gifted to the less privileged segments of society, allowing individuals to contribute to charitable causes during Ramadan.

Lulu Signs MoU With UAE Military Veterans

UAE Retired Military Association (RMA) partners with Lulu Group to serve retired military personnel and their families…reports Asian Lite News

UAE’s Retired Military Association (RMA) joined hands together with prominent retailer Lulu Group to serve retired military members and its affiliates. As per the MoU signed between RMA and Lulu Group today, Lulu Hypermarkets across UAE will provide shopping cards to retired military association for the benefit of its personnel and affiliates.

The MoU was signed by H.E. Major General Pilot (R) Khalaf Nasser Rashid Al Qubaisi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Retired Military Association and Mr. Yusuffali M.A., Chairman and Managing Director of Lulu Group International at the Association’s head office in Abu Dhabi.

Also present on the occasion were, Major General Engineer (R) Ahmed Khalfan Mohamed Al Qubaisi, Executive Director, Brigadier General Hamad Nasser Al Zaabi, Executive Director of Administration and Public Affairs, Major pilot Ali Mohamed Saeed Al Ameemi, Director of Government Relations, Saifee Rupawala, Chief Executive Officer of Lulu Group, Ashraf Ali MA, Executive Director, Abu Baker TP, Director of Abu Dhabi, V. Lulu Launches Al Emarat Awwal Initiative

In a bid to support the local products and farmers, Lulu Hypermarkets launched the Al Emarat Awwal (UAE First) initiative across all Lulu hypermarkets in the country.

The initiative was inaugurated by HE Mariam Bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Almheiri, UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment in the presence of Dr. Juma Al Matrooshi, Director General of Dubai Silicon Oasis, Yusuffali M.A., Chairman of the Lulu Group and other dignitaries at Lulu Hypermarket, Silicon Central Mall in Dubai. 

After inauguration, UAE Minister and other dignitaries toured the various “Al Emarat Awwal” initiatives which will be on display till the UAE national day on 2nd December.

Mariam Almheiri praised the initiative, noting that it will market local products to a large customer base, not only within the country but also at the level of the GCC countries. Minister also appreciated the tireless efforts of the Lulu Group to contribute to supporting the economy and developing the agricultural sector in the country.

Yusuffali M.A. on the other hand expressed his pride in the participation of Lulu Hypermarkets in the marketing of UAE agricultural production and various food products, noting that the group will regularly organise events, festivals and performances through a large marketing campaign to increase the market share of Emirati products, which will further contribute to strengthening the sectors of agriculture and the local industry, which are the key to Food security for this great nation.

He said that the Emirates Awwal initiative supports the local food sector, which will contribute to enhancing the economic and social benefits of the UAE through the rehabilitation of sustainable agriculture. We are very excited to be part of this initiative and we will extend all support to boost the UAE local economy.

Lulu Hypermarket works closely with a large number of local companies and organizations to market their products and provide the required support from training, management of operations, packaging and marketing, in addition to distinctive display sites in Lulu stores across all cities of the UAE, and works with a number of leading food products factories in the UAE to market its products under the ‘Lulu’ brand name.

On this occasion Lulu Group also signed an MOU with UAE based Elite agro for procuring and promoting agri products from the UAE. The MoU was signed by Dr. Abdulmonem Almarzooqi, Chief Executive Officer of Elite Agro and Saifee Rupawala, CEO of Lulu Group.

Also present on the occasion were Ashraf Ali MA, Executive Director of Lulu Group, Salim MA, Lulu Director, Salim VI, COO and other officials.

APEDA signs MoU to promote agricultural products in Gulf countries

The promotional activities will enable maximum dissemination of information and awareness about the benefits of ethnic, unique, and GI-tagged agricultural products to consumers in the destination country, said the official release…reports Asian Lite News

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Ministry of Commerce (Government of India), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with global retail major Lulu Hypermarket LLC to boost exports of agricultural products to the Gulf Cooperation Countries (GCCs), said a press release by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on Monday.

According to the official release, the MoU, aimed at promoting Brand India globally, was signed in the presence of APEDA Chairman Abhishek Dev and LuLu Group Chairman-cum-Managing Director Yusuf Ali MA at the World India Food (WIF) 2023 on November 3, 2023, in New Delhi.

With the MoU, APEDA would promote Indian agricultural products, including millets, across the GCC, as LuLu Group International (LLC) has its presence across the GCC, Egypt, India and the Far East, with 247 LuLu stores in operation and 24 shopping malls, said the official statement.

The LuLu Group is the fastest-growing retail chain in the Middle East and Asia, added the official statement.

The press note further mentioned that the MoU will also facilitate promotional activities for APEDA’s scheduled products with the LuLu Hypermarket retail chain.

As per the MoU document, Lulu Group will actively promote and showcase a wide range of products in the APEDA basket of agricultural and processed food products in their retail outlets.

A dedicated shelf space (special sections or aisles) will be allocated within LuLu Group’s stores to display APEDA’s products prominently and to enhance their visibility, said the press release.

APEDA and LuLu Group will engage with consumers through interactive events, sampling and tasting campaigns, season-specific campaigns for fruits and vegetables, new product launches and the promotion of products arising from the Himalayan and North Eastern States and organic products, added the press release.

As per the release, the APEDA also facilitated the signing of MoUs by the Arunachal Pradesh Marketing Board, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology, Jammu and Meghalaya Agricultural Marketing Board, and the Lulu Group, aimed at boosting export potential from Himalayan and North Eastern states.

The promotional activities will enable maximum dissemination of information and awareness about the benefits of ethnic, unique, and GI-tagged agricultural products to consumers in the destination country, said the official release.

Further feedback from consumers will be actively sought to improve product offerings, added the official release.

The MoU also stated that APEDA and LuLu Group would jointly work to explore opportunities to facilitate the export of agricultural products through its international network of stores, thereby expanding the global reach of Indian agricultural products and their accessibility to consumers.

Both APEDA and LuLu Group would jointly facilitate export-oriented promotional programmes such as Buyer-Seller Meets (BSM), R-BSMs, B2B meetings, trade fairs and roadshows in association with the Indian Missions abroad and concerned stakeholders, said the press release.

LuLu Group will provide its assistance in the labelling of products according to the requirements of different importing countries, the MoU paper said, adding that both parties would mutually decide the commercial matters and applicable terms. (ANI)

Lulu Chief Lauds India-Saudi Ties

Saudi – India to strengthen trade ties; A memorandum of understanding was signed by both parties. Lulu Group Chairman MA Yusuff Ali said the bilateral agreements will give a leap forward in the industrial partnership of the two countries

Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal said that India and Saudi Arabia will ensure cooperation in more areas in trade and commerce. Union Minister’s response at the meeting of Saudi-Indian businessmen organized by the Federation of Saudi Chambers (FSC) in Riyadh. The chamber representatives of both the countries signed the MoU in this regard.

In the presence of Mr Goyal and Saudi Chamber President Hassan Al Huwaisi, Saudi Chamber Secretary General Waleed Al Arinan, ITC. Group Chairman and Chamber of Indian Industry President Sanjeev Puri signed the MoU.

Mr Goyal said that the service of Indian businessmen in Saudi Arabia is commendable. He also explained the investment opportunities in India in the meeting. More than 100 trade and industry representatives from Saudi Arabia and India attended the meeting.

Lulu Group Chairman MA Yusuff Ali said that the bilateral agreements will give a leap forward in the industrial partnership of the two countries. He added that Lulu is moving fast with the progress of Saudi Arabia and gratefully remembers the help, cooperation and support of the Saudi Crown Prince behind the leap towards the goal of Lulu 100 with 58 Lulu hypermarkets in Saudi Arabia.

Round Table Meeting

The Federation of Saudi Chambers (FSC) held a Saudi-Indian roundtable to review investment opportunities in the Kingdom. Mr Goyal, FSC Chairman Hassan Alhwaizy, Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Suhel Ajaz Khan, and over 100 representatives of Saudi and Indian entities and companies took part in the meeting that explored Indian investment prospects in sectors specified in the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, economic trends and developments in India, and the opportunities available to Saudi business owners in this country.

Goyal said that the visit made by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to India achieved historic results for Saudi-Indian relations. He underscored India’s unique position as an economic and investment destination for foreign investors, with its large market size exceeding 1.4 billion people, and said that his country has an economic vision that targets $2 trillion annually in overall exports.

Goyal said that the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC) will boost international trade and cooperation, and the volume of future investments in the two counties, highlighting the Indian companies’ desire to enter the Saudi market.

Alhwaizy highlighted India’s 75-year economic partnership with the Kingdom, and the fact that the Kingdom is India’s fourth trading partner and the second largest energy supplier; it registered SAR196 billion volume of trade in 2022, a growth of 51%.

He expressed appreciation for the Saudi-Indian Strategic Partnership Council efforts, which, he said, brought about a major shift in the trade and investment relationship between the two countries.
He said he was looking forward to seeing partnerships in green hydrogen, manufacturing, energy, agriculture, food security, healthcare, and information technology.

Saudi-Indian Business Council Chairman Abdulaziz Al-Qahtani said that in the course of 26 years, the council played an important role in strengthening economic relations and encouraging partnerships between business owners in the two countries, adding that India is an important market for Saudi companies, and Indian investors have great opportunities in the Kingdom.

FSC and the Federation of Indian Industry signed a memorandum of understanding at the meeting, stipulating strengthening economic relations, ensuring coordination between business owners and companies in Saudi Arabia and India, and cooperating in trade and investment.

Mr Goyal also attended the 7th edition of Future Investment Initiative (FII) meet in Riyadh.

He also met several dignitaries from the host country including Saudi Arabian Energy Minister Prince Abdul Aziz Bin Salman Al-Saud, Commerce Minister Majid bin Abdullah AlKassabi, and Investment Minister Khalid  Al Falih.

Goyal addressed the 7th Edition of FII in one of the plenary sessions titled “The Coming Investment Mandate”.

He also co-chaired a conclave session on the theme “From Risk to Opportunity: Strategies for Emerging Economies in the New Industrial Policy Era” along with the Saudi Investment Minister.

This was followed by a bilateral meeting where the two ministers deliberated expansion of investment across diverse sectors to foster economic growth and further enhance strategic partnership between the two countries.

Goyal also held bilateral meetings with Saudi Arabian Industry and Mineral Resources Minister Bandar bin Ibrahim AlKhorayef, CEO NEOM Nadhmi Al Nasr, and Governor of Public Investment Fund (PIF) Yassir Rummayyan.

Discussions pertained to improvement in bilateral relations, especially in the field of commerce and industry.

Goyal also took part in the business round table organised at the Federation of Saudi Chambers, and highlighted the multiple opportunities offered by India. The growing trade between the two countries reached an all-time high of $52.75 billion in 2022-23. The conference aimed at further strengthening the economic partnership between the two countries.

Goyal also met World Bank President Ajay Banga and prominent business leaders on the sidelines of the FII. He held interactive sessions with Indian business leaders and the Indian community in Saudi Arabia, both constituting a respectable part of the Saudi economy.

Saudi Arabia is one of India’s most important strategic partners. The level of cooperation between the two countries can also be witnessed with the establishment of India-Saudi Arabia Strategic Partnership Council (SPC).

Lulu Launches Celebrations Of India

Indian Ambassador Sunjay Sudhir inaugurates LuLu Hypermarket’s annual ‘Celebrations of India’ campaign at Al Wahda Mall, Abu Dhabi, in the presence of Yusuff Ali M.A., Chairman and Managing Director of LuLu Group, and other dignitaries.

The Lulu Group, which is one of the largest importers of Indian products, is showcasing more than 5,000 unique products this year in both food and non-food categories. Special emphasis is being given to millets as this year has been declared the Year of Millets by the UN. More than 20 different varieties of millets are on display, as well as various delicacies made from millets that are on sale at the hot-food counter. Apart from this Lulu is also promoting products from different states of India such as ODOP initiative of Uttar Pradesh, Pineapples from Meghalaya, Kashmiri Apples, Indian eggs from Tamil Nadu, fruits and vegetables from Kerala, and other South Indian states, among others.

LuLu Celebrations of India is a series of festivals that incorporate various events such as India Independence Day, Onam, Janmashtami, Ganesh Chaturthi, Navratri, and Diwali. These events will present a unique immersive shopping experience at LuLu, with regional food trails, celebrity visits, and amazing promotions and offers on every category, from fresh food to groceries to lifestyle and fashion wear, in time for the upcoming festive season. The event showcases Indian handicrafts, khadi and ethnic wear; Indian food items like biryani, chaat, grills, snacks, falooda, sweets, and more. Stage activities include Ethnic wear fashion show, classical and folk dances of India.

Lulu to invest over Rs 3,500 crores in Telangana to build mall, hypermarket besides projects related to food processing, retail, food sourcing and Logistics Hub…reports Asian Lite News

Abu Dhabi-headquartered Lulu Group unveils its plans to put south Indian state of Telangana on a global retail orbit. The group is planning to invest over Rs 3,500 crores in the next five years in the state to build mega mall, hypermarket besides projects related to food processing, retail, food sourcing and Logistics Hub. The capital city of Hyderabad will be the spot for the state’s first Lulu Mall and Lulu Hypermarket.

Lulu Mall in Hyderabad is likely to be inaugurated in August 2023. Hyderabad is the sixth city after Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Bengaluru, Lucknow, and Coimbatore where the group has its presence.

The plan was announced by Mr Yusuff Ali MA, Chairman of Lulu Group during a press conference in the city in the presence of State Industry Minister KT Rama Rao.

The Lulu chairman said that Lulu Group’s investment in the state is the outcome of several discussions and an MOU it signed with the Government of Telangana during Mr Rao’s visit to World Economic Forum last year in Davos.



Yusuff Ali further said that the first project in Hyderabad is part of Rs. 500 Cr investment that Lulu committed to the state of Telangana. With an investment of Rs. 300 crore, 5 lakh. sq. feet mall earlier known as Manjeera Mall re-branded as Lulu Mall which will offer international shopping experience to the people of Hyderabad and its surrounding areas.

The mall will host a mega Lulu Hypermarket, more than 75 plus local and international brands, five screen cinema with a seating capacity of 1,400, multi cuisine food court, and children’s entertainment center etc. The mall is conveniently located at Kukatpally and will generate employment for more than 2,000 personnel.

The highlight of the mall will be 200,000 sq. feet Lulu Hypermarket which will offer extensive range of fresh produce and grocery and will have has separate sections for fashion, home appliances, electronics, mobiles, IT, and lifestyle products under the brand names, ‘Lulu Fashion Store’ and ‘Lulu Connect.

There will also be special sections to support and promote the local Telangana based agricultural and trade sectors, to further boost the employment opportunity for local youth.”



Additionally, Rs. 200 Cr will be spent on an export-oriented modern integrated meat processing plant at Chengicherla with a production capacity of 60 Tonnes per day. The project will generate employment for more than 2,500 personnel. Commercial operations expected to start at the facility in the next 18 months.

Apart from this, New investments of Rs 3,500 Crores to be committed in Telangana over the next 5 years by the Lulu group. It includes Destination shopping mall in Hyderabad with the investment of Rs 2,000 Crores and Mini malls on the outskirts of Hyderabad and other major cities and towns in the state with an investment outlay of Rs 1,000 Crores.

Lulu group also plans for an Agriculture sourcing and logistics hub near the Hyderabad Airport for facilitating exports & promotion of local Telangana produce across India and the world. Other plans include a seafood procurement and processing center to support the fishing industry.
