Bollywood’s heartthrob and Mumbai City FC co-owner Ranbir Kapoor called his wife and actress Alia Bhatt “very competitive”, and said he would avoid playing a football match with her.

During the Mumbai City FC jersey launch, Ranbir had a candid conversation with sports anchor Mayanti Langer and revealed that the opponent he would never play against was none other than his wife Alia.

Asked who the one player was who he would never play with, he said: “She is very competitive and if I beat her, I know that I’ll be hearing about it for a long time and she’ll really sulk. So I think I would avoid playing with her.”

Langer then suggested that if Alia won, she would have a better and longer celebration than him. To which he replied, “Exactly. So, I’m screwed both ways.”

Reacting to her cousin’s answer, Kareena Kapoor Khan wrote in Instagram Stories: “The family that kicks together; sticks together! Loved the second answer, Ranbir!”

Talking about his love for football, Ranbir recounted: “I mean, it takes me back to school when I was in the fourth or fifth grade. I was pretty below average in everything I did, in studies, in dramatics.”

“But when I joined the school football team, I think that’s really where I found an identity, a personality for myself. I think sports really teaches us a lot in life.”

The 40-year-old actor added: “And I remember the first time my name came in the newspaper was because I scored a goal for Bombay Scottish for an inter-school football championship.”

Ranveer doesn’t purposely try to be disruptive

On the work front, Ranveer will be seen in films like Rohit Shetty’s ‘Cirkus’, Karan Johar’s ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani’ and South director S. Shankar’s retelling of his cult classic ‘Anniyan’…reports Asian Lite News

Bollywood star Ranveer Singh, who recently appeared on the non-fiction OTT show, ‘Ranveer vs Wild with Bear Grylls’, is thrilled with the appreciation that the show has received in just 24 hours.

The actor shared that although he doesn’t purposely try to be disruptive, his choices turn out to be disruptive in nature thanks to the authenticity that those choices entail. His choice of being a part of the show is no different.

Reacting to the response to the recently released Netflix show, the actor said, “It’s the disruptive nature of the concept and the format that people have really taken to. Though my intention is never to disrupt or be disruptive, I just happen to make authentic choices and they happen to be disruptive choices; whether it’s in my choice of films, the characters I create.”

The show is currently available to stream on OTT platform Netflix. Ranveer further shared how he analysed that the show consists of ‘Navaras’, “I remember, instinctively reacting to it in the room telling the Banijay and Netflix teams that this is there because it’s got all the Navaras. It’s got humour, emotion, thrill, suspense, romance, it’s got so many flavours and to add to that; the audience is participating in the journey. I am really happy that what was an experiment for me has worked so well.”

About collaborating with Bear Grylls, who is an icon by himself, Ranveer said, “I am an adrenaline junkie. I love when that rush of adrenaline hits me when I am doing a certain scene or when I am doing action or when I am shooting movies or doing a stunt or stuff like that. I like fast cars, I like speed, I like motorcycles, so I am inclined to that. Adventure is a space that I hadn’t really explored, which is why when I was pitched this prospect I was very excited by it.”

He added, “My first thought was how cool it would be to go off to a forest, something I had never done before. I am very grateful that it was with Bear Grylls who is the king of the jungle. He is the ultimate master of the survival game. There is so much to learn from him. It would not have been the experience, and the show would have not been anything without Bear.”

Ranveer concluding by noting: “Bear is somebody I made a solid friend in. He is a virtuous man, a grounded person and a warm person. I look upon him as a brother and I share a very warm bond with him. He inspires me and the kind of man he is, the solid family man he is, I really have a great amount of fondness for him.”

On the work front, Ranveer will be seen in films like Rohit Shetty’s ‘Cirkus’, Karan Johar’s ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani’ and South director S. Shankar’s retelling of his cult classic ‘Anniyan’.

Ranveer obsessed with the craft of ‘path-breaking try-outs

After Ranveer completed a decade in cinema, he felt like he knew nothing about the craft and needed to explore himself…reports Asian Lite News

Bollywood livewire star Ranveer Singh, who will next be seen in films such as ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’, ‘Cirkus’ and ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’, reveals that he wants to be the first at trying something path-breaking and be the best actor of the country.

Ranveer said: “Right now I am becoming obsessed with this craft. I want to play more with it and want to explore more, so yes right now its burning like a blazing inferno wanting to do more and see what the possibilities are. Do things that haven’t been done before.”

“There was a very dear, very respected and admired colleague of mine who after 83 pointed out that if you are analysed – there is no reference for you actually. A mainstream leading man of Hindi cinema doesn’t really go this distinctively into different characters and then you have this off-screen persona that also has no reference.”

Ranveer shared: “So, I think I am doing something that I may not have done before and therefore I am achieving what I want to achieve which is doing things which haven’t been done before.”

The actor says this is a journey of exploring this craft.

“Let me be the first of trying something that hasn’t been tried before because I’m now deeply attached to the process which is the ultimate prize.”

After Ranveer completed a decade in cinema, he felt like he knew nothing about the craft and needed to explore himself.

He says: “I really have evolved as a person and as an artist. Initially I was very cocky. I used to think I know it all and I am invincible. Now, over the period of time, as I started doing more work and started collaborating with more people like Mr Bhansali, who break you down.”

“They’ll completely decimate these constructs that you’ve made for yourself thinking that these are the boundaries of acting. It’s after gaining a certain amount of experience that I realised that performance art, craft of acting is limitless and infinite. There is no extent of how you can transform yourself into another character.”

Ranveer added: “It’s now 10 years down the line that I feel like I don’t know anything. That I have barely scratched the surface of the potential of this. With every film, with every collaborator, with every passing year, I continue more and more and I have realised that there is no end to even learning.”

“There is no end to exploring the possibilities of this realm – performance art and the craft of acting. It is limitless, you can just about do anything.”

Talking about his ‘creative appetite’, Ranveer said: “I am like ravenous. I want to see how deep this rabbit hole goes and keep doing more of the same. And I am probably at the hungriest right now.”

“It’s like 10 years of work you might feel let’s pull your foot off the pedal, maybe live life a little, create the work-life balance. But right now, I feel I’m just starting and I’m hungry for more.”

Ranveer explores human being in him through acting

The actor wishes to traverse the path of experimentation in his next decade in cinema, “I intend to continue on this path and continue to explore…reports Asian Lite News

Ranveer Singh, who was most recently seen in sports drama ’83’, considers it his duty to use his craft for entertaining people and telling stories in the most engaging way.

The actor is glad that the profession of acting allows him to explore the human being in him as well.

Ranveer says, “I am really just in the process of exploring myself as a person. To do different characters and present different films that we as people can be proud of, I feel duty-bound to entertain people.”

Reflecting up on his journey, he says, “It’s been an amazing 10 years. I have worked with the finest filmmakers who have shaped me, taught me what it means to be an artiste. I have learnt so much but I feel hungry. My hunger is insatiable, I want to do more films like ’83’ that receive this kind of unanimous love.”

The actor wishes to traverse the path of experimentation in his next decade in cinema, “I intend to continue on this path and continue to explore. I am living the dream. I wake up in disbelief everyday till date that I am an actor. I still can’t get over it and I am grateful for the opportunities. I say a prayer of gratitude everyday, I recognise and value my opportunities and got to play Kapil Dev in the definitive movie like ’83’. It blows my mind.”

Recollecting the memories of ’83’ screening, the superstar adds, “I cannot tell you how fulfilling it was to be in the screening of ’83’. You see people laughing, crying, standing up to applaud and they are feeling this emotion together in a community viewing. They have shared an experience together and that is life. Life is a shared experience and that’s what I want to continue to do.”
