Revathy exploring new and unusual formats

The well-known actress and director Revathy spoke about playing the character of Luna Luka, ruler of a group who are against vampires in the romantic fantasy thriller, ‘Tooth Pari: When Love Bites’.

She added that before agreeing to it, she took a lot of time as it is a completely new genre for her to explore. However, she always loves to experiment with different genres and stories.

The web series features Shantanu Maheshwari as a dentist, Roy, who falls in love with a vampire, Rumi, played by Tanya Maniktala.

Talking about being part of a series and a completely new genre, the 56-year-old actress said: “A lot of thought has always gone behind any project that I have chosen and ‘Tooth Pari: When Love Bites’ is no exception. When I heard the script, I knew it was a genre I had never traversed into earlier. This was not a normal everyday story but something new that our director, Pratim Dasgupta had envisioned and plotted in the city of joy, Kolkata.”

Revathy is known for her work in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada cinema. She made her acting debut with the Tamil film ‘Mann Vasanai’ in 1983. She worked with South superstars like Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. She also acted along with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in the 1991 romantic film ‘Love’. Last year, she casted Kajol in her directorial film, ‘Salaam Venky’.

She added that she is always fond of experimenting with different genres and challenging subjects.

“Exploring new and unusual formats is a challenge I love to undertake. In the series, I have portrayed a character that is strong willed, strong in her beliefs and ready to fight against all odds. I love playing such well etched out roles,” she added.

‘Tooth Pari: When Love Bites’

‘Tooth Pari: When Love Bites’ will be streaming from April 20 on Netflix. Actors Revathy, Shantanu Maheshwari, Sikander Kher and Tillotama Shome, among many others, will be seen in Netflix’s upcoming romantic fantasy thriller.

It stars Shantanu Maheshwari as Doctor Roy, the cute, boy-next-door, a faint-hearted dentist and Tanya Maniktala as Rumi, the rebellious vampire.

Luna Luka (Revathy) a modern day Wicca; Sub Inspector Kartik (Sikander Kher) who is investigating a ‘fang’ that he found; Meera (Tillotama Shome) and David (Saswata Chatterjee) are the vampires with a history and they don’t shy away from sharing their anecdotes.

Created and directed by Pratim Dasgupta and produced by Endemol Shine India, ‘Tooth Pari: When Love Bites’ offers romance, mystery, thrill and everything else in the realm of fantasy.

Aamir’s unique perspective to stories made him perfectionist

Actress-director Revathy, who is awaiting the release of her upcoming directorial ‘Salaam Venky’, which stars Kajol and Vishal Jethwa, has shared how Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan came onboard for the film.

The film is about a DMD (Duchenne muscular dystrophy) patient (played by Vishal), who strives to live to the fullest and how his mother (essayed by Kajol) does everything in her capacity to make it better for her son.

Recollecting how Aamir got associated with the film, Revathy told: “People often call Aamir a perfectionist and there’s a reason behind that. He has cultivated that image and earned the title because of his dedication and unique perspective to stories. For ‘Salaam Venky’ too, when I approached Aamir, he first asked for his scene to get a sense of what his character brings to the story.”

She further mentioned that it was only after he read the scene, he progressed towards the next stage – the script and the overarching narrative of the film.

“Once he read his part and sketched the character through broad strokes, he heard the entire narration and then added his inputs. He has his own style of working and it was pleasant to see his process. Once on sets, he knocked it out of the park with his precise portrayal of the character. Being an actress myself, it was refreshing to see such a process.”

‘Nobody could play Venky better than Vishal’

Bollywood actress Kajol, who is awaiting the release of her upcoming movie ‘Salaam Venky’, has opined that Vishal Jethwa, who stars as her son in the film, has done complete justice to his part in the film, and nobody else could have played the role better than him.

Helmed by Revathy, the film focuses on a mother who fights through every challenge her ailing son faces and helps him live life to the fullest.

Praising Vishal for his work, the actress said: “I can’t imagine anyone else playing Venky other than Vishal. Simply because he has lived with him every moment on the sets and all of us felt that.”

Apart from Kajol and Vishal Jethwa, the film also stars Rahul Bose, Rajeev Khandelwal, Prakash Raj and Ahana Kumra in pivotal roles.

Presented by Connekkt Media and produced by Suuraj Sinngh, Shraddha Agrawal, and Varsha Kukreja under the banner BLIVE Productions and RTAKE Studios, ‘Salaam Venky’ is directed is landing in theatres on December 9.

Depicting the struggle of mother and ill son

Actress Kajol will be essaying the role of a mother to a terminally ill boy in the upcoming film ‘Salaam Venky’, which has been directed by actress-director Revathy. The film tells the heartwarming story of a mother-son duo as they face challenges thrown at them by life.

The film’s trailer was unveiled on Monday in Mumbai.

The trailer shows the camaraderie between Kajol’s character and her son portrayed by actor Vishal Jethwa, who has transitioned from television to films and is known for his work in ‘Mardaani 2’ and the streaming show ‘Human’.

The trailer builds on the theme of making the most of life and features the legendary dialogue “Zindagi lambi nahi, badi honi chahiye, Babumoshai (Life should not be long but grand and meaningful)” from the Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna-starrer movie ‘Anand’.

Popular Tamil actress Revathy is now making a return to direction with a feature film called ‘Salaam Venky’…reports Asian Lite News

The film is being produced by producer Suuraj Sinngh’s BLive productions, a firm that has entered into a three-film creative collaboration with actress Revathy.

‘Salaam Venky’, starring the talented Kajol, is inspired by an incredible true story of a mother’s strength when faced with life’s challenges. Sources say the film, which is being made in Hindi, will soon release in cinemas this year.

Revathy and Suuraj plan to work on producing engaging content which will bring powerful human and entertaining stories to cinemas.

Talking about the collaboration, actor-director Revathy said, “When Suuraj Sinngh came to me with a story, I immediately wanted to step into the shoes of a director. The result is ‘Salaam Venky’.
