Almonds not only provide a delightful crunch to your snacks but also offer numerous health benefits. In honour of National Almond Day, Bollywood actor Soha Ali Khan shares her personal skincare and beauty tips including almonds.

“Taking care of our skin becomes even more crucial during winter when the cold temperatures and dry air can strip away its natural radiance. This is particularly important for me as an actor, constantly in the spotlight. To maintain clear and glowing skin, I adopt a comprehensive skincare approach that involves self-care, proper hydration, and nutrition. As part of my on-the-go snacks, I include healthy options like almonds, berries, and fruits. These choices contribute to both my skin health and overall well-being,” says Soha Ali Khan.

Let’s dive into some of the beauty regimes Soha follows:

Gentle skincare routine

With a hectic work schedule, adapting my skincare routine for winter is crucial to maintaining healthy and radiant skin. To achieve a hydrated look, Soha exfoliates 1-2 times a week using a gentle scrub and opts for a mild, moisturizing cleanser to remove impurities without stripping natural oils from my skin. For added moisture, she uses a rich, nourishing cream that locks in hydration and acts as a protective barrier against harsh weather conditions. Followed by SPF 30 sunscreen to shield from the sun’s harmful UV rays.

Nourish from within

Opting for nutritious snacks, such as berries and a handful of almonds, provides healthy fats and antioxidants that support moisturized and smooth skin. Almonds, in particular, contain vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol), which has been shown to impart anti-ageing properties, benefiting skin health. The supermom also includes hydrating fruits like oranges, cucumbers, and melons in her diet, and ensures to drink at least eight glasses of water daily to stay well-hydrated. Overall, a diet rich in nuts like almonds, whole grains, citrus fruits, and leafy greens promotes glowing skin. 

Self-care and mindfulness

Achieving good skincare and beauty extends beyond the products you use. Healthy skin requires mental and emotional stability. To maintain this balance, she incorporates various practices into her routine. She says, “I work out every day, engaging in activities like pilates, yoga, or fast walking. This not only keeps me invigorated and focused but also promotes blood circulation for a youthful glow. Deep breathing exercises help me stay grounded, and stress-reduction strategies like mindfulness and meditation assist me in managing responsibilities to my family and job. Recognizing the importance of sleep for overall health, I ensure to get seven to nine hours of sleep every night. This period of rest allows my body and skin to repair and regenerate. Overall, incorporating self-care and mindfulness practices into my everyday routine contributes to not only healthy and happy skin but also overall wellness and happiness.”

‘OTT space is so very exciting to take more projects’

Making her debut in 2004, Soha Ali Khan is one of those actresses who has only appeared in selected films and despite being the daughter of yesteryear actress Sharmila Tagore and sister of actor Saif Ali Khan, she managed to establish herself as a moderately famous actress.

As she makes her comeback in acting and debuts on OTT with ‘Kaun Banegi Shikharwati’, she says the OTT space is so very exciting for her to take up more acting projects.

Soha is known for appearing in films like ‘Rang De Basanti’, ‘Khoya Khoya Chand’, ‘Dil Maange More’, ‘Mumbai Meri Jaan’, and ‘Midnight’s Children’, among others.

Asked about what attracts her towards OTT and Soha told IANS: “I think it is not just about OTT but how the audience is changing. When I started my acting career, back then people would mostly look for aspirational content and wanted to live the life they desire to have, through films. Now people are looking for relatability and they want to see themselves represented on-screen.

“People want to see their own story, desi kahaani that we say…instead of aping the west. That shift has given the opportunity for more stories and made this space interesting. That is why OTT is a more interesting space for me to do more work. I love this idea of telling a story in series because here we have the space for each character where I as an actor will be able to do a multi-layered performance that is more nuanced.”

Soha was last seen in the film ‘Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster 3’ that released in 2018.

She further added, “In between when I was not working, I was actually quite obsessed with my daughter, I love my daughter. I know, it is a very mummy thing but when I came back on the set and faced the camera, I realised I belong here. Apart from being the mother of my daughter, the next most exciting thing for me is acting.

“I also did another show called ‘Hush Hush’ that will also release soon. But I promised to myself to do more acting assignments because on one hand, thanks to OTT, much more exciting content is in the making and also I learned to balance between my mommyhood and acting gig.”

The show ‘Kaun Banegi Shikharwati’ also features Naseeruddin Shah, Lara Dutta, Kritika Kamra, and Raghubir Yadav, among others – and it was released on January 7 on ZEE5.
