Ukraine has signed a memorandum with 11 countries to create a coalition for training pilots to fly F-16 fighter jets, Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov said.

“It’s official: a coalition for F-16 training of the Ukrainian Air Force has been formed,” Reznikov tweeted.

Apart from pilots, technicians and support staff will participate in a training program, Xinhua news agency quoted the Minister as saying.

The creation of the coalition opens the doors to include other types of fighter aircraft in the program, he added.

Reznikov thanked Denmark and the Netherlands for their leadership in creating the coalition.

Separately, Ukraine’s Ambassador to the UK Vadym Prystayko said that 20 Ukrainian pilots will begin training on Western fighter jets in Britain at the end of this month or at the beginning of August.

Prystayko noted that Britain does not operate F-16 fighters, but has other European-made aircraft.

Gulf Calling: RSLDC resumes training for foreign job aspirants

Emigration Check Required (ECR) is a notation stamped on the passports of people with academic qualification below 10th standard…reports Archana Sharma.

The Rajasthan Skill and Livelihoods Development Corporation (RSLDC) has resumed its training services at its Pre-Departure Orientation Training (PDOT) centres, giving fresh hopes of foreign placement to skilled professionals from the state.

The PDOT centre in Sikar district has recently registered a batch of 37 candidates aspiring to work in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. This will be the first batch to undergo training since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic that forced these countries to restrict arrivals of emigrant workers.

“The international job market is once again opening up after the pandemic and this is a welcome development for those looking for work opportunities abroad. The Pre-Departure Orientation Training is especially important for those requiring emigration check due to lack of academic qualification. Soon, the services shall resume at all the centres,” said Niraj K. Pawan, Chairman, RSLDC.

Emigration Check Required (ECR) is a notation stamped on the passports of people with academic qualification below 10th standard. These people need to acquire emigration clearance before travelling to 18 countries, including the GCC nations. The provision is meant to protect such people from exploitation and forgery on the pretext of foreign placements.

PDOT is a major step towards educating the aspiring candidates towards various formalities and rules before they take up oversees appointment.

All the 37 candidates registered at the PDOT centre in Sikar are from the mason and helper category.

The objective of PDOT is to enhance soft skills of migrant workers in terms of culture, language, tradition and local rules and regulations of the destination country, to sensitise them about the pathways to safe and legal migration for their welfare and protection.

RSLDC is the apex skill development body of Rajasthan government, which is the designated PDOT partner with the Ministry of External Affairs.

Jaipur

The corporation through its PDOT centres in Jaipur, Sikar and Nagaur has already benefitted more than 3,000 workers before the pandemic disrupted emigration of workers.

Rajasthan has a huge skilled workforce and the workers from the state are preferred by several employers in the Gulf countries.

RSLDC helps in upskilling of such workers. It also helps safeguard their interests through registration of recruiting agents and other initiatives.

RSLDC will soon conduct training programmes online to further facilitate the foreign job aspirations of the state’s workers.

SPECIAL: How to find a job?

A new campaign showcasing how Work Coaches are helping jobseekers back into work through a government website has been recently relaunched by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP)

A new campaign showcasing how Work Coaches are helping jobseekers back into work through a government website has been recently relaunched by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

The campaign aims to increase usage of the JobHelp website, as well as raising awareness and increasing uptake of the Work Coach support, government skills, employment and support programmes and training courses available to those eligible.

DWP’s ‘jobs army’ of Work Coaches, including 13,500 additional recruits taken on since the COVID-19 pandemic hit, are using online resource JobHelp to tackle unemployment in the UK.

The JobHelp website opens up the expertise of DWP Work Coaches to jobseekers who are unable to claim Universal Credit (UC), while offering UC customers an online resource to refer back to throughout their job search.

Over 58% of Black Asian Minority Ethnic workers have had their employment affected since the start of the pandemic, compared to 47% of white workers. Bangladeshi’s are most affected with 80% reporting a change in their employment circumstances, compared to 58% of Pakistani’s; and 55% of the UK’s Indian population.

Furthermore, women across all ethnicities have been disproportionately affected compared to men. Overall, 52% of women have seen their employment affected as a result of the pandemic compared to 45% of men. This includes 70% of Asian women, who have reported a loss in income or change to their employment situation.

Among those impacted was 21-year-old Tamanna Begum from Birmingham, who lost her job in March 2020. After being unemployed for almost a year, Tamanna had begun to feel disheartened. “It can be the worst feeling in the world,” shares Tamanna. “You spend so much time on your application, and think it’s going well – but then you don’t hear anything back.”

But things started to change when Tamanna met Raj, a DWP Youth Employability Coach, who was tasked with helping Tamanna find work. With over 30 years of experience, Raj is an experienced Work Coach and knew exactly what to do. “My job is extremely rewarding,” says Raj. “I love being able to make a positive change by helping people move forward in their lives.”

Raj helped Tamanna by first identifying the strengths and weaknesses of her CV. She used the JobHelp website to find the latest tips and guidance and worked with Tamanna to make necessary improvements. Packed with tips on everything from how to craft a perfect CV to perfecting video interviewing skills, the JobHelp website is a good place for jobseekers to start their job search, particularly as the economy starts to pick up.

As restrictions ease, organisations across the country will increasingly be looking for new people to join them. If you’re applying for work, the JobHelp website can help you find these vacancies and support you with every stage of your application,” says Mims Davies MP, Minister for Employment. “We know this has been a challenging time, but we are serious about supporting Britain’s workforce as we build back better.”
