Goa tourism minister Khaunte to lure international travellers at WTM London

Minister Rohan Khaunte is in London to attend World Travel Market, Rahul Laud reports

Goa’s Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte Minister of Tourism who also holds other portfolios like  Minister for Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, and Printing & Stationery is leading a delegation, including Sanjeev Ahuja, IAS, Secretary (Tourism), Sandip Jacques, IAS, Secretary (Exposition of St. Francis Xavier). Kuldeep Arolkar, Tourism Deputy Director and Shawn Mendes, OSD to Minister for Tourism, at the World Travel Market – the annual Mecca for the global travel and tour trade.

The Goan delegation will speak to speak to the media, tour operators, and tourism trade in London to promote the Goan state.

Another paradigm shift is the new thinking that Goa is much more than Fish Fenny and football, and aims to move beyond its reputation as a beach destination.

Khaunte’s dynamic policy is to reach out to the global traveler that Goan hospitality is world class and its roots and essence are world-class in the hinterland, eco-tourism facilities and a regenerative tourism approach that is more than sustainable making it the first state in India with this tourist approach.

Khaunte is convinced and strongly believes that the environment, local communities, and the Goan economy will flourish through regenerative tourism practices:  In contrast to sustainable tourism, regenerative tourism goes beyond sustainability by actively seeking to improve and restore ecosystems, communities, and cultures.

The regenerative approach aims to leave a positive impact, contributing to the well-being of destinations and fostering resilience,  Cultural and environmental preservation and restoration,  Community empowerment, and Inclusive tourism – a collaborative public-private participative approach.

Khaunte desires a serious solid long-term plan and strategy that goes beyond the glitz glitter glamour of the Casinos.

Sharjah’s Cultural and Tourism Events Shine at WTM London

The Centre is part of an official delegation to the World Travel Market that includes a number of government and private sector entities from Sharjah…reports Asian Lite News

Expo Centre Sharjah (ECS) is currently participating in the 43rd edition of the World Travel Market, which is being held in London from 6th-8th November. During the event, ECS aims to promote the economic, cultural, and tourism events it organises and hosts throughout the year.

The Centre is part of an official delegation to the World Travel Market that includes a number of government and private sector entities from Sharjah, organised in cooperation with the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority. The Emirate of Sharjah dispatched the delegation in the context of its efforts to review the current reality of tourism in Sharjah and the latest developments, actors, and projects in the field, while highlighting top Sharjah exhibitions.

Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO of Expo Centre Sharjah, said, “Expo Centre Sharjah is pleased to participate in the World Travel Market in London in cooperation with the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority. This major exhibition provides us with an opportunity to showcase the diverse economic, cultural, and tourism events we organise and host throughout the year, further enhancing Sharjah’s position on the global tourism map. Our participation in this event is part of our ongoing efforts to advance our international partnerships and offer investment opportunities in Sharjah.”

Al Midfa noted that, while participating in the World Travel Market, the Centre’s delegation is holding meetings with several major global entities and institutions, to strengthen cooperation and build new partnerships by ensuring the ECS offers the latest developments, amenities, and services for organising exhibitions and conferences.

Besides Expo Centre Sharjah, 18 government and private sector entities are participating in this year’s Sharjah Pavilion at the World Travel Market, in cooperation with the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority.

The World Travel Market in London is a leading global event in the travel and tourism sector, allowing those interested in the tourism industry to learn about thousands of global destinations and brands. The event attracts top speakers, businessmen, and leaders from a diverse array of economic, tourism and cultural sectors.

WTM LONDON: India Showcases Varied Tourism Products

The products and series of transformative experiences for travellers to India were shown at the WTM under the theme ‘Incredible India! Visit India Year 2023’….reports Asian Lite News

Along with various stakeholders, including the tour operators and state tourism departments, India’s Ministry of Tourism participated in the World Travel Market (WTM) London from November 6-8, showcasing varied tourism products.

The products and series of transformative experiences for travellers to India were shown at the WTM under the theme ‘Incredible India! Visit India Year 2023’. according to an official release of the Ministry of Tourism.

Speaking at the event, the Deputy High Commissioner of London, Sujit Ghosh said that India has several historical wonders. He said, “The forts and palaces of Rajasthan, the ancient temples of Khajuraho and the cave complexes of Ananta and Ellora are just a few examples of the historical wonders that await you in India.”

“…When it comes to cuisine, India is a food lover’s paradise,” he added.

The formal inauguration of the Indian Pavilion was done by the Secretary, Ministry of Tourism of India, V. Vidyavathi, and High Commissioner of India to the UK, Vikram Doraiswami, in the presence of Rohan Khaunte, Minister of Tourism, Government of Goa.

Vaidhyavathi, while speaking to ANI said that it is time that we look at both tangible and intangible heritage of India.

“…We are now trying to say is that you cannot enjoy the tangible heritage of India until you understand the experience and intangible part of that as well, so our focus is now to work both on the tangible and intangible heritage of India. for example, languages of india, music, dance ..all of them are intangible cultural art forms.”

She further stated, “So we are saying that we need to be looking at both because that is what gives you a comprehensive experience of what India can offer.”

Meanwhile, Seo Shekhar Gupta of the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board highlighted the beauty of the state at the UK event and said that MP has a lot when it comes to destinations and tourism offerings.

“Like our ad says, the essence of the ad was that Madhya Pradesh (MP) is so big and diverse ..there are so many tourism offerings that you can’t cover this in one lifetime, you have to take reincarnation many times to visit MP and absorb what MP is all about,” he told ANI.

“When it comes to destinations, we have everything over there…right from wildlife to heritage to spiritualism…now everything has been now encapsulated under the ambit of responsible tourism and that’s the way forward we have tried to put it in a framework where everything relates to the community, leads to community empowerment,” he added.

Notably, the Indian Tourism Ministry and the High Commission of India in London organised an evening of interaction with the UK’s travel and tour operators and other stakeholders to promote the theme ‘Incredible India! Visit India Year 2023’.

The evening featured cultural programs and a spread of Indian delicacies presenting to the UK audience the rich cultural and culinary heritage of India.

The evening was also an effort on the part of the Ministry of Tourism to use WTM 2023, London as a platform to bring together professionals from different sectors of the travel and tourism industry through networking, business opportunities, and exchange of ideas and information. (ANI)
