Two days before the scheduled visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to the ethnic violence-hit Manipur, Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pande reached Manipur on Saturday to hold meetings with various civil society organisations in Churachandpur district.
Defence sources said that the COAS arrived in Imphal on Saturday on a two-day visit. He will visit various districts where he will interact with the local commanders and obtain a first-hand account of the ground situation.
General Pande will also interact with the troops.
On Sunday, he will meet Governor Anusuiya Uikey, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, Chief Security Advisor to Manipur Kuldiep Singh and would discuss and deliberate over the current situation and future trajectory, in order to restore normalcy in the trouble-torn state at the earliest.
A Manipur government official said that in view of the widespread ethnic violence in at least 11 of the 16 districts of the state, the state administration had requisitioned Army and Assam Rifles on May 3.
As an immediate response, the Army and Assam Rifles deployed 135 columns of troops to diffuse the situation by carrying out active domination of the sensitive and fringe areas.
Approximately 35,000 people from different communities have been evacuated to safe zones and immediate relief and humanitarian aid has been provided to the displaced civilians by the Army and Assam Rifles.

While veteran leaders said goodbye to Shah after being given a message to stay together, Poonia stunned all by starting this padyatra all alone…reports Asian Lite News
The factionalism in the Rajasthan BJP was exposed once again when party state president Satish Poonia went on a ‘padyatra’ from Pokaran to Ramdevra all alone as no other senior leader of the BJP joined him.
Surprisingly this episode happened a few hours after Union Home Minister Amit Shah departed from Jodhpur on Sunday. Shah was there to inaugurate a border tourism project, and to address the party’s national OBC working committee and booth presidents.
While veteran leaders said goodbye to Shah after being given a message to stay together, Poonia stunned all by starting this padyatra all alone.
He posted on social media: “There will be sunshine in the journey, let’s walk. Everyone is in the crowd, if you can go out, then go. Where do paths change for someone? If you can change yourself then come on.”
Poonia started his journey on foot from Gomat village after visiting Jajwala Mata temple in Pokaran at 2 p.m., travelled 8 kms to reach Ramdevra at 5 p.m. Even after Poonia’s social media post, none of the senior party leaders and Union ministers joined him, but on the way, local leaders joined him in the padyatra. Poonia prayed for the prosperity and progress of the country and the state after having darshan of Baba Ramdevra.
Those who accompanied Poonia during the padyatra were MLA Pabbaram Vishnoi, former MLA from Pokhran Shaitan Singh Rathod, Chhotu Singh, Mahendra Pratap Puri Maharaj, District President Chandraprakash Sharda, former District President Jugal Kishore Vyas, among others.
Poonia shared pictures of his visit at Ramdevra temple and said on his Twitter, “After darshan of Jajwala Mataji in Pokhran along with Sant Shri Pratap Puri Ji Maharaj, reached Runicha Dham and bowed head at Baba Ramdev ji. Prayed for the prosperity of the BJP family and of the state and for disease-free Gaumata.”
Meanwhile, through his social media post, he tried to give a clear message to the BJP leaders that he is not going to change his ways and programmes on the advice of someone. Whoever wants to walk with him can walk.
Earlier on September 6, Poonia, Union Ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Kailash Chaudhary had planned a padyatra from Pokaran to Ramdevra. According to sources, a complaint was conveyed to the party high command in Delhi by a state leader of the opposition faction that he and several party leaders were not invited to attend the padyatra.
Hence this march was cancelled on the directions of party high command. Now after Amit Shah’s visit, Poonia did not accompany the party leaders and left for Ramdevra from Pokaran all alone to give a look of a private religious padyatra. Shekhawat and Chaudhary were also not with him.
Earlier, Poonia gave a warm send off to Union Home Minister Amit Shah at Jodhpur airport on Sunday morning. During this, State Organisation General Secretary Chandrashekhar, former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Deputy Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathod, Union Minister Kailash Chaudhary, MP Rajendra Gehlot, P.P. Chaudhary, C.P. Joshi amongst others were present with him. The BJP’s Rajasthan team was hosted for a tea party at the residence of Pali MP P.P. Chaudhary in Jodhpur where Vasundhara Raje and Poonia could be seen sitting together.

Court frames charges against Yasin Malik
A National Investigation Agency (NIA) court has framed charges against Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) founder Hafiz Saeed, Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin and others under various sections of UAPA in connection with a terror funding case.
Kashmiri separatist leaders including Yasin Malik, Shabbir Shah, Masarat Alam, former MLA Rashid Engineer, businessman Zahoor Ahmad Shah Watali, Bitta Karate, Aftab Ahmad Shah, Avatar Ahmad Shah, Naeem Khan, Bashir Ahmed Bhat, alias Peer Saifullah and several others have also been framed charges for criminal conspiracy, waging war against the country and other unlawful activities.
In the order dated March 16, the NIA special Judge Praveen Singh said: “The above analysis reflects that the statements of witnesses and documentary evidence have connected almost all the accused with each other and to a common object of secession, to the commonality of means they were to use, their close association to terrorist/terrorist organisations under the guiding hand and funding of Pakistani establishment.”
Notably, the court has discharged three namely Kamran Yusuf, Javed Ahmad Bhatt and Syedah Aasiya Firdous Andrabi.
The case related to the various terrorist outfits Lashkar-e-Taiba(LeT), Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) backed by Islamic State were perpetrated terrorist and secessionist activities that disturbed the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

J&K situation under control: CRPF
Central Reserve Police Force Director General Kuldeep Singh on Thursday said that the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir is under control and terror activities have substantially reduced after the abrogation of Article 370.
“Situation in J&K is not out of hand, sometimes there is a spurt in violence in a particular time period. After the abrogation of Article 370, the incidents of stone-pelting are almost nil. There is a decrease in the infiltration of foreign terrorists and attacks,” he said.
He also said that land measuring 524 Kanals and 11 Marlas have been allocated to the CRPF in at 10 locations in J&K to set up Battalion camping sites.
He said that some companies are living in the big houses of the Kashmiri Pandits but whenever any owner of the house claims the property, the force personnel immediately vacate the premises.
Replying to a question on the return of the Kashmiri Pandits in the valley, he said this is to be decoded by the government and the people who want to come back. “When asked, we will make a secured environment for them,” he said.
He also said that as the nodal agency for ensuring conduct of free and fair elections, the CRPF mobilised 1,551 Central Armed Police Force companies during the recently concluded assembly elections in five states, and used 132 special trains for induction and 107 for de-induction of these companies.
The CRPF is providing security cover to 117 protectees of various categories and for the first time 32 women personnel have been inducted into the VIP Security Wing, he said.
“A total of 41 VIPs were provided security cover by the CRPF during recently concluded Assembly elections in five states. The security of 27 protectees have been withdrawn post elections,” he said.
The CRPF Director General also said that his force provides training for VVIP security at Greater Noida and so far provided the training to 4,401 personnel of CAPF, 149 of Delhi Police, and 123 of Railway Protection Force during 2021-22.

Taking a note of the soft corner among the Jats for RLD leader Jayant Chaudhary, Shah said, “Jayant has chosen the wrong house this time.”…reports Asian Lite News
In a bid to woo voters from the Jat community ahead of the Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday met Jat leaders and said that his relationship with the community goes back a long time.
Shah interacted with over 200 leaders from the Jat community in the national capital.
He said that both the BJP and the Jat community have similar views on important issues.
Describing Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav as an outsider, Shah asked the Jat leaders “why do you bring outsiders in a fight within the house?”
Taking a note of the soft corner among the Jats for RLD leader Jayant Chaudhary, Shah said, “Jayant has chosen the wrong house this time.”
Expressing gratitude to the Jat voters for always supporting the BJP, the Home Minister claimed that no one, except Prime Minister Narendra Modi, gave respect to farmer leader Mahendra Singh Tikait.
During the meeting, issues related to the situation in western Uttar Pradesh before 2017, Muzaffarnagar riots during the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party government, the grand Ram Temple being built in Ayodhya during the Modi-Yogi government and Jat reservation were also discussed.
Talking to the media after the meeting, Union minister and Lok Sabha MP from Muzaffarnagar, Sanjeev Balyan, said that the Jat community has always supported the BJP.
Some people also raised the issue of Jat reservation, to which the Home Minister said that it is also in his mind.
Balyan also claimed that no one in western Uttar Pradesh wants Akhilesh Yadav to be the next Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.
He sent a clear message to the traditional politicians of the Valley that what they couldn’t do in 70-years, the government led by PM Modi has done it within two years…reports Asian Lite News.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah wound up his 3-day J&K visit by spending a night at a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp at Lethpora in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. He extended his J&K visit to be with soldiers. It was a strong message to adversaries that India’s leadership and armed forces are on the same page.
Out of all places he chose Pulwama, where 40 CRPF men were martyred in a suicide attack on February 14, 2019. The attack carried out by Jaish militants had brought India and Pakistan to a precipice. India avenged the attack by carrying out airstrikes at Balakote deep within the Pakistan territory. Had the world powers not intervened, India-Pakistan war was inevitable.
The Pulwama attack led to the Centre revamping its Kashmir strategy. A massive crackdown was launched against militants and their sympathizers in the Valley and National investigation Agency (NIA) broke the back of terror funding by choking the Hawala channels through which illegal money used to flow to sponsor violence, street protests and stone pelting in Kashmir.
Soon after BJP won the 2019 parliamentary elections with a thumping majority, the dispensation led by PM Modi gave a final shape to “Mission Kashmir” and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, was assigned the task to scrap J&K’s special status and merge the erstwhile princely State into Union of India completely.
The task was accomplished on August 5, 2019, when the Centre announced its decision to “bite the bullet.” It abrogated Articles 370 and 35-A, which provided special privileges to residents of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh regions along with it the Himalayan region was divided into two Union Territories, J&K and Ladakh.
Eventful visit
The 3-day J&K visit of Amit Shah, which was his first after the abrogation of Article 370, was eventful as he touched each and every aspect. He inaugurated development projects, chaired a security review meeting in Srinagar, addressed a rally in Jammu, met the youth in Kashmir and visited border village Makwal close to the Line of Control in Jammu region.
The Union Home Minister made it clear that he would talk to Kashmiri youth and not Pakistan. He sent a clear message to the traditional politicians of the Valley that what they couldn’t do in 70-years, the government led by PM Modi has done it within two years.
Amit Shah gave a clear signal that the Centre wants inclusive Jammu and Kashmir which would comprise of Muslims, Pandits, Hindus, Sikhs and members of the other communities. The time has changed and no one can dominate the narrative and discourse in Jammu and Kashmir. The Valley based politicians need to understand that they can no longer blackmail the Centre nor can they claim that they are the only ones who are born to rule Jammu and Kashmir.
The Union Home Minister laid bare the roadmap for J&K by announcing that after the delimitation exercise (process to redraw parliamentary and assembly constituencies) gets completed assembly elections will be held and after that statehood would be restored.
He gave a clear message to militants, their handlers sitting across the Line of Control and their sympathizers that no one would be allowed to disrupt the peace, progress and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speculation put at rest
Amit Shah’s J&K visit proved to be a complete package. It put many speculations to rest and drove home a point that the Centre is interested in the people and not the traditional politicians, who are still harping about holding talks with Pakistan.
Addressing an event at SKICC in Srinagar, Shah said that Kashmiri youth should sit back and think what good did such people do, who placed stones and weapons in their hands. “They talk about Pakistan. Pakistan occupied Kashmir is nearby, ask whether villages there have electricity, hospitals, medical colleges, drinking water, toilets for women. There is nothing there and these people talk about Pakistan. I have come to tell you that you have as much right in India as any citizen of India. You have as much right to development and the treasury of the Government of India as every citizen of India has. The people of Kashmir have to take this process forward with determination,” he said while interacting with the youth.
The Union Home Minister said that 40,000 people were killed and these people (Kashmiri leaders) always kept saying talk to Pakistan, talk to the Hurriyat, and what was the result? They destroyed tourism in the Valley. They never condemned terrorism.
Shah said that from March 2020 to March 2021, 1,31,000 tourists from India and abroad visited Jammu and Kashmir, which is the highest figure since Independence. “Those disturbing peace wanted no industry to come up, youth to remain unemployed and indulge in stone pelting. We want youth to pick up books instead of stones, instruments instead of weapons and to make their life,” he added.
While addressing a rally in Jammu, the Union Home Minister told Jammu people that the era of injustice with them is over and now, no one would ignore them. “You have faced injustice for years but now Jammu and Kashmir will develop together and both will take India forward together,” he said.
Youth hold the key
In both the regions i.e. Kashmir and Jammu, Amit Shah asked the people to have faith in Government of India and country’s leadership. He minced no words to make it clear that anti-nationals won’t be tolerated and anyone who tries to challenge India’s sovereignty will have to face the consequences.
Amit Shah’s maiden visit to J&K after the historic decision of August 5, 2019, assumed more significance in the backdrop of the recent civilian killings in the Valley. In the ongoing month militants shot dead eleven civilians, including nine from the minority communities. He assured the people that no one will be allowed to spill the innocent blood anymore and minorities in J&K will be protected as the “New Jammu and Kashmir” belongs to all the communities.
His visit has encouraged the security forces to launch a final assault against the militants so that militancy and violence are eradicated from J&K completely. The Union Home Minister ended his visit on a positive note. His message was clear that all the debates over J&K have been settled. Youth hold the key to make a new beginning and they need to come forward.
Addressing the Jawans, the Union Home Minister said that his visit at the CRPF camp is the most important programme of his three-day visit to J&K…reports Asian Lite News.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah told a Sainik Sammelan here that it is the determination of the country’s security forces that makes people feel secure when they go to sleep.
Amit Shah addressed the Sainik Sammelan at CRPF Camp, Lethpora, Pulwama, on the third day of his J&K visit on Monday.
The Home Minister was accompanied by Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha during his visit to the CRPF Camp.
Addressing the Jawans, the Union Home Minister said that his visit at the CRPF camp is the most important programme of his three-day visit to J&K.
“I want to spend a night with Jawans in CRPF camp, want to know the experience and hardships and witness the spirit and passion for the nation.
“You are 24×7 ready for the security of the country even in minus 43 to plus 43 degree temperature.
“This is the determination that made the people of the country feel secure that they can sleep peacefully,” said the Home Minister.
“When Article 370 and 35A were removed, there was speculation that there would be a huge backlash and a possibility of bloodshed, but because of the promptness of our security forces, no one had to fire even a single bullet.
“Almost all the forces have more than 28,000 jawans. Without any bloodshed, a new era of development has begun in Kashmir.
“The law and order situation in Jammu and Kashmir has improved significantly.
“From 2014 to 2021, the number of civilian deaths has come down from 208 to 30 and the number of martyred soldiers of security forces has come down from 105 to 60, which shows that this decision has also been accepted by the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“There was a time when stone pelting was common in Kashmir, but today such incidents have also reduced a lot, observed the Union Home Minister.
With the kind of development taking place in the country after Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister in 2014, we are confident that in no time India will strengthen its place in one of the top economies of the world.
“In 2014, we were at 11th place in the world’s economies, today we are at 5th-6th, by 2024 we will definitely reach the third place which will be a big milestone.
“The country is witnessing economic development, infrastructure, industrial development, radical changes in the country’s education system, huge changes are taking place in the construction sector, all because the Army and CAPF personnel are standing on the front and are capable of crushing all nefarious intentions of the enemies.
“The Prime Minister has decided to celebrate the ongoing Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav in a different way to make it a memorable one. When we will be celebrating hundred years of independence, then where will India be, it is also time to set the goals and strengthen our resolve.
“In the 75th year itself, all the people who are working in different ways for the country, they have to set their resolution and goal. All these goals can be accomplished only when we secure our country from the enemies.
Pulwama, which the country and the world knew for the ruthless attack on our soldiers, in the same Pulwama, today a medical college worth Rs 2,000 crore has started, this is such a big change.
“If there is peace, security, if the elected representatives are determined for development, then what transformation can happen, Jammu and Kashmir is an example of this,” said the Union Home Minister.
“Today, development in Jammu and Kashmir is progressing at a fast pace, investment is coming, all national level institutions are coming, Jammu and Kashmir has started to change and transform in every aspect.
“I am sure that when Modiji’s dream of development of Jammu and Kashmir is fulfilled, then we will be able to witness peace and harmony here forever.
“The Central government under Narendra Modi has zero tolerance policy against terrorism because it is against humanity and those who are involved in this activity are committing heinous acts.
“Narendra Modi government has done many things for the CAPF jawans. Support has been extended under Bharatveer for the soldiers who laid down their lives while doing duty during Covid.
“We have just started the Ayushman CAPF card, I request that every jawan should be given two cards, one for himself and one for his family. If there is any health related problem in your family then you can get complete treatment without incurring unlimited health expenses with the Ayushman card.
“When you are on the border, or any other place like Pulwama, your family should be the concern of the Government of India and with this sensitivity we have implemented this scheme.
“The credibility that our forces have built due to hard work and the spirit of sacrifice has to be continued,” Shah said.
Home Minister says five lakh new jobs are in the process of being created in Jammu as a result of the new industrial policy announced by the government after the removal of Article 370, reports Asian Lite News
Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday promised equitable development of both the Jammu and Kashmir regions, and said “no one” would be allowed to disrupt the process of development initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Union Territory.
“From this land of temples and of Mata Vaishno Devi, which is also the birthplace of Pandit Prem Nath Dogra and the martyrdom of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee, I want to say that those bent upon disrupting this era of development are causing disruptions, but rest assured no one will be able to disrupt and stop the pace of development in Jammu and Kashmir,” Shah told a public rally in Bhagwati Nagar in Jammu.
“Some people” were raising questions about the security situation in J&K, Shah said.
“I want to tell them that a total 2,081 civilians were killed by militants from 2004-14, which comes to 208 civilians every year (on average). However, from 2014 till September 10, 2021, only 239 civilians have lost their lives, which works out to 30 civilians a year,’’ Shah said.
“But I have come to say that though this number is smaller, we are not satisfied, as we want to create a situation where not a single person gets killed and terrorism is wiped out completely,” he said.
Shah said that under a unique development scheme initiated by the Modi government, 4,500 clubs had been created in Kashmir, involving 45,000 youths. While some of them have got jobs, others have been trained in skill upgradation and other ventures, and were serving society, he said.
“I have told them (members of youth clubs) that if you find any woman without an LPG connection in your village, do write to the government, as we do not want any household to be without an LPG stove, electricity, or tap water,” Shah said. “And if these 45,000 youth work in the service of Jammu and Kashmir, then I can tell you that militants will not be able to cause any harm.”
Shah is on his maiden visit to J&K since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019. Sunday was the birth anniversary of Prem Nath Dogra, founder of the Praja Parishad, who spearheaded an agitation against Sheikh Abdullah in the 1950s. Syama Prasad Mookerjee died in J&K Police custody in 1953.
In the evening, Shah visited forward areas along the international border in Jammu, and interacted with BSF officers and jawans there.
“This is an auspicious day. Not just Jammu, people across the country can never forget Prem Nath Dogra… He was the person who founded the Praja Parishad, and along with Dr Mookerjee gave the slogan that there cannot be two heads of government, two flags, and two constitutions in the same country,” Shah said.
Shah, who was accompanied by Union ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Dr Jitendra Singh, and Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, inaugurated or laid the foundation stones of various projects worth a total Rs 15,000 crore.
“The days of discrimination against the people of Jammu have gone, and now no one can do injustice to you,” Shah said. Instead, he said, “development will take place simultaneously both in Jammu and Kashmir. There will be no injustice with anybody and both will develop and prosper together and contribute jointly to take the country forward.”
Five lakh new jobs are in the process of being created in Jammu as a result of the new industrial policy announced by the government after the removal of Article 370, Shah said.
“When we came up with the new industrial policy, the three families used to mock us saying who will come here… But due to PM Modi’s efforts, investments of Rs 12,000 crore have come until now, and will rise to Rs 51,000 crore before the end of 2022,’’ Shah said, without naming the “three families” of the Congress, NC, and PDP.
“What did these three families give to the state except for 87 MLAs and six MPs?” Shah asked. In comparison, “PM Narendra Modi has worked to make 30,000 people elected representatives”, and announced a Rs 55,000-crore package for the people after taking office.
“Today every village has an elected panchayat, councils in block and districts,” Shah said, adding that these panches and sarpanches could also become ministers at the Centre, or chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir. “Coercion by these three families is no longer possible,” he said.
Lt Governor Sinha hit out at those trying to disrupt peace and development in the UT. “Those who are doing this shall know that the government at the Centre believes in establishing peace, and not buying it,” he said.
