Hamdan, Abdullah take oath as Dy PMs

At Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi, new ministers including Ahmad Al Falasi, Sarah Al Amiri, Abdulrahman Al Awar, and Alia Al Mazrouei also took the oath….reports Asian Lite News

Newly appointed ministers were sworn in before President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court.

Taking the oath were H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence; H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; and other newly appointed ministers in the UAE Cabinet.

The newly appointed ministers taking the oath during the ceremony held at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi included Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Sports; Sarah bint Yousef Al Amiri, Minister of Education; Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdulmannan Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation and Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research; and Alia bint Abdullah Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Entrepreneurship.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan wished the newly appointed ministers success in fulfilling their national duty to advance and improve their relevant sectors, and making tangible contributions to strategic national plans that positively impact the UAE’s development and meet the needs of its people.

“Our unwavering approach in the UAE is to continuously develop and improve in order to build upon our achievements. To serve the interests of current and future generations we must keep pace with global best practices, especially in the areas of education, science and technology,” His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed said.

“Improving the education system in the UAE is the only way to achieve our ambitious goals of a sustainable, knowledge-based economy. This will be possible through intensified efforts and innovative ideas,” he added.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said the UAE leadership is keen to push government performance to excellence through ongoing improvements alongside the appointment of qualified talents capable of investing their vast expertise to achieve the desired results.

“Modernisation has always been an inherent aspect of the UAE government’s approach. There is no limit to our ambitions in serving our nation and our people. The UAE continues to lead as we rely on our human capital to lead the next phase of comprehensive, sustainable development,” he said.

The oath-taking ceremony was attended by H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs; H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Adviser for Special Affairs at the Presidential Court; and a number of sheikhs, ministers and senior officials.

Abdullah bin Zayed appreciates Biden’s proposals to end Gaza war

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, stressed the importance of the proposals presented by US President Joe Biden regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip, appreciating these efforts which aimed at stopping the war in the Strip.

This came during a phone call today with Anthony Blinken, US Secretary of State, during which the two top diplomats discussed the current developments in the Middle East region and the situation in the Gaza Strip and their repercussions, especially on the humanitarian aspect. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed also reviewed with Secretary Blinken the US President’s proposals, which include a comprehensive ceasefire and the withdrawal of the Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, the release of prisoners and hostages, the return of the residents of the northern Gaza Strip to their home areas, a surge of humanitarian aid for the Gaza Strip, and the implementation of a comprehensive reconstruction plan for Gaza.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed stressed the need to deal seriously and positively with President Biden’s proposals and all other proposals that lead to de-escalation in the region, protecting the lives of all civilians, alleviating the worsening humanitarian crisis that civilians are suffering from in the Gaza Strip, and ending this war.

Sheikh Abdullah also recognised the importance of building on these proposals in order to create a serious political horizon for renegotiation with the aim of achieving a comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.

HE appreciated the ongoing mediation efforts undertaken by the sisterly State of Qatar, the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt, and the friendly United States to reach a ceasefire, affirming the UAE’s firm support for all efforts aimed at reaching a sustainable ceasefire, providing urgent humanitarian aid to civilians in the Gaza Strip, and ending the suffering of the brotherly Palestinian people.

He pointed out that extremism, tension and escalating violence have pushed the region to an unprecedented state of instability, which necessitates the need to intensify international cooperation and concerted regional and international efforts to end this situation and to focus on consolidating the foundations of security and stability in the region and meeting the aspirations of its peoples for a decent life, development and prosperity. Abdullah bin Zayed directs enhancing national identity

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Chairman of the Education and Human Resources Council has directed all educational institutions in the country, including governmental and private, at all levels, from early education to higher education, to intensify efforts to enhance the national identity, Emirati culture, positive values and the Arabic language among students, and to integrate them in educational curricula, programmes and teaching methodology.

Speaking at a virtual meeting of the Education and Human Resources Council, Sheikh Abdullah also affirmed that preservation and promotion of the national identity, Emirati culture and the Arabic language are among the most important priorities of the leadership in the UAE.

He said that the Emirati national history is full of achievements, experiences, and successful stories that can enrich students’ knowledge, provide them with moral lessons, positive values, skills and wisdom while taking decisions to enable them to be future leaders and effective contributors in the UAE society.

He pointed out the importance of benefiting from the experiences and expertise of prominent national figures who have awareness of the history of the UAE and knowledge of the Emirati identity, culture, customs, traditions and positive values, and to highlight their role in preparing a generation that carries the flag and adheres to the identity and participates in shaping the future of the nation.

Sheikh Abdullah also stressed the role played by the members of the society, educators, media professionals in combatting ideas that seek to destroy family entity, promote practices that are not familiar with the Emirati approach, and lead to deteriorate its interdependence and distort bringing up new generations, thus proposing social patterns that violate normal human instinct and lead to the deterioration of morals and established values.

During the meeting, Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Youth reviewed the national framework of the Emirati cultural activities in schools which includes a number of school policies of the Emirati cultural activities which are integrated in the academic curricula.

The framework aims to developing the Emirati national identity, cultural values and positive characteristics of the students through a group of activities, contests, events, school trips and workshops in which students will take part in during school timings or after school in coordination with competent departments.

In this regard Al Kaabi indicated that the framework targets various topics in the Emirati heritage, including traditions, values, social activities, Arabic language, local expressions, folk arts and traditional sports, in addition to enhancing knowledge and awareness of the country’s geography, arts and Emirati literature, and some successful experiences in the country’s history.

Sarah bint Yousif Al Amiri, Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technology and Chairwomen of Emirates Schools Establishment (ESE) reviewed the ESE’s priorities for the next year, and also explained its priorities that include improving students’ educational achievements and enhancing their skills, close coordination and collaboration with teachers, school management and parents.

In attendance were Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Education; Sara Awad Issa Musallam, Minister of State for Early Education; Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation; Shamma bint Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and the Secretary-General of the Council and other officials.
