Dubai’s Tresind Studio Makes Debut in World’s 50 Best Restaurants List

Saini trained under the maestro, Manish Mehrotra of Delhi’s Indian Accent restaurant, and considers his guru to be the most decisive influence in his life…reports Asian Lite News

Tresind Studio, the Progressive Indian restaurant in Dubai steered by Delhi-born chef Himanshu Saini, has become the newest entrant into the World’s 50 Best restaurants list announced in Las Vegas on Wednesday night (US Time).

It is four notches below Gaggan, the Bangkok restaurant led by Kolkata-born Gaggan Anand, which is ranked No. 9. Anand is considered to be a pioneer of avant garde Indian cuisine.

The list is topped by the Barcelona restaurant, Disfrutar, which is the baby of chefs Oriol Castro, Eduard Xatruch and Mateu Casanas. It just celebrated its 10th anniversary. The chefs presiding over the restaurant’s kitchens are all graduates of El Bulli, long-time No.1 restaurant (now closed) of the visionary, Ferran Adria.

Saini trained under the maestro, Manish Mehrotra of Delhi’s Indian Accent restaurant, and considers his guru to be the most decisive influence in his life. He moved to Dubai in 2014 and opened Tresind Studio as the Progressive version of the Tresind restaurant in 2018. Apart from its latest recognition, Tresind Studio already has two Michelin stars.

Announcing the arrival of Tresind Studio, the London-based ‘Restaurant’ magazine, which created and still runs this list based on recommendation of judges from all over the world, writes: “An ode to India’s rich and diverse culinary heritage, Himanshu Saini and his team guide diners with the most personal service possible through a nuanced yet approachable exploration of 17 dishes.”

Describing the restaurant, it says, “The 20-seater restaurant resembles an intimate theatre where the open kitchen is the stage. Natural elements such as fresh flowers, leaves, shells and butterflies play the main characters of a four-act show that highlights the best of every region.”

The restaurant is located at St. Regis Gardens, Dubai.

The 17-course degustation (tasting) menu at Tresind Studio represents each part of India.

As ‘Restaurant’ magazine puts it, “From the humble pani puri, to the ceremonial Sadhya and a Studio version of a comforting curry, all bases are covered.”

Responding to the honour bestowed upon Tresind Studio, Saini said in a press statement: “This recognition is a testament to our team’s dedication and passion for elevating Indian cuisine. We are honoured to bring this accolade to Dubai and proud to represent Indian culinary arts on the global stage.”

Atlantis Dubai joins hand with luxury hospitality brand Major Food Group, to bring the legendary restaurant CARBONE to Atlantis The Royal in Q1, 2025.

Described as ‘the most celebrity-studded restaurant on earth’ by Vanity Fair, the global phenomenon will introduce its world-class, New York-style Italian cuisine to Dubai for the first time in its illustrious history. When the original location of CARBONE debuted just over a decade ago in downtown Manhattan, it was hailed as an instant classic that brought a much-needed jolt of energy and soul to the highest echelons of dining.

Tim Kelly, President of Atlantis, comments “We look forward to CARBONE joining the greatest collection of world-class restaurants and iconic dining experiences found in one destination. Kerzner International and Atlantis Dubai continue to attract the biggest players in gastronomy, delivering our guests experiences that cannot be found anywhere else. We are proud of our partnership with Major Food Group.”

The New Yorker called the restaurant’s food “absolutely perfect”, and the New York Times described the concept as “a fancy red-sauce joint as directed by Quentin Tarantino, possessing a technical prowess that can make you giddy and an instinct for sheer entertainment that makes a lot of other restaurants seem like earnest, unimaginative drones.”

Jeff Zalaznick, Co-Founder of Major Food Group comments: “It’s an incredible honour to partner with Atlantis Dubai to bring the world’s most exciting and exceptional Italian restaurant to a property that will no doubt raise the bar for luxury hospitality globally – a mission that defines everything we do at MFG. At CARBONE Dubai, we will deliver the style, energy, and unparalleled cuisine that are synonymous with the brand, while creating a restaurant carefully tailored to this extraordinary city. Together with our friends at Atlantis, we look forward to making history.”

The cuisine at CARBONE pays homage to the storied legacy of the mid-century, New York-style Italian restaurant, but draws on the highest calibre of technique to elevate classic dishes such as Caesar Salad,  Linguini Vongole, Chicken Scarpariello, and Veal Parmesan to unprecedented heights. These famed signatures – including the sensational Spicy Rigatoni – will all feature on the Dubai menu. Tuxedo-clad service captains will serve them in a sprawling dining room that will transport guests to 1950s New York. The stunning space will feature velvety jewel-tone nooks, damask-upholstered walls accented with  Venetian glass mirrors, a curated collection of fine artwork – and a buzzing terrace.

CARBONE Dubai will mark the ninth CARBONE in MFG’s roster, following Hong Kong, Las Vegas, Miami, Dallas, Doha, Riyadh, and two outposts in New York City. Founded by Mario Carbone, Jeff Zalaznick, and  Rich Torrisi, MFG now operates a portfolio of over 50 restaurants, bars, private clubs, and hotels. The luxury brand is known for building spaces that attract a wide audience – from neighbourhood regulars to boldfaced names in media, business, and entertainment – thanks to their sense of glamour, meticulous execution, peerless hospitality, and design contributions from leaders in the field.

Dubai showcases competitive advantages at Africa CEO Forum

The Dubai Chambers delegation held a number of bilateral meetings with African government delegations, multinational companies, and major African and international institutions…reports Asian Lite News

Dubai Chambers has successfully participated in the recently concluded Africa CEO Forum in Kigali, Rwanda, which attracted more than 2,500 attendees including African presidents, government officials, and CEOs of major international and African companies.

The delegation was led by Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, who took part in an interactive panel discussion. Dubai Chambers also organised an event on the sidelines of the forum to showcase the emirate’s competitive advantages. The session highlighted the services available to African companies seeking to expand into global markets through Dubai, as well as the support provided to African businesses to help strengthen their trade and investment ties with companies in Dubai.

The Dubai Chambers delegation held a number of bilateral meetings with African government delegations, multinational companies, and major African and international institutions, which explored strategies to enhance bilateral cooperation and achieve mutual goals.

During the panel discussion titled ‘Decisive Decade for Intra-African Trade: Can the AfCFTA Deliver?’, the President and CEO of Dubai Chambers emphasised the important role Dubai plays in strengthening trade ties between Africa and the world. He highlighted the contribution of the representative offices operated by Dubai International Chamber, one of the three chambers under the umbrella of Dubai Chambers, in consolidating partnerships between the private sector in Dubai and the African business community.

Dubai International Chamber currently operates seven representative offices across Africa, which is the chamber’s highest number of international offices in any region globally. This reflects growing interest in African markets and the continent’s position as a vital strategic trade and investment partner for Dubai’s private sector.

African markets accounted for 13.3 percent of Dubai’s total non-oil trade with the world in 2023, up from 8.9 percent in 2014. Dubai’s non-oil trade with Africa is expected to grow further in the coming years driven by several key factors, most notably the African Continental Free Trade Agreement.

Paul Kagame, President of Rwanda, opened the 11th edition of the forum, which was organised by Jeune Afrique Media Group in collaboration with the World Bank Group’s International Finance Corporation (IFC). Recognised as one of the largest business forums dedicated to Africa, the event addressed a range of topics including investment, climate, information technology, economic integration, infrastructure, trade, and artificial intelligence.

Dubai is best maritime city in Arab World

The report highlighted Dubai’s accent on green technology in the maritime sector….reports Asian Lite News

Dubai has once more showcased its appeal as an international maritime hub in the 2024 Leading Maritime Cities (LMC) report, securing the top spot in the Arab world and ranking 11th globally, moving up two places compared to the previous report in 2022. Dubai’s impressive showing as a maritime centre received due recognition in an international report launched recently in Singapore by DNV and Menon Economics, companies specialising in evaluating maritime capitals worldwide.

According to the report, Dubai’s rise in the Leading Maritime Capitals index for 2024 is attributed to five key factors: shipping centres, maritime technology, ports and logistics, attractiveness and competitiveness, as well as financial and legal aspects. The report also highlighted Dubai’s accent on green technology in the maritime sector.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC), expressed pride in the achievement, attributing it to the efforts of the Dubai Maritime Authority (DMA) within PCFC in enhancing Dubai’s leading position on the global maritime map. The visionary leadership and guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and the constant support from His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, were instrumental in every success Dubai notched on the global stage, he added.

Strategic plans and initiatives

Bin Sulayem noted that the Dubai Maritime Authority spearheads Dubai’s progress on this front through a comprehensive range of strategic plans and initiatives aimed at enhancing the maritime sector’s competitiveness, serving as a key driver for sustainable growth and development. He praised the specialised teams working within the PCFC for playing an integral part in the accomplishment that adds to Dubai’s many notable firsts and inspires its quest to continue striving for global excellence and enhancing maritime services.

He also expressed his appreciation for the efforts of all partners involved in achieving the milestone, emphasising the PCFC’ efforts in strengthening strategic partnerships between Dubai and leading global maritime hubs, fostering effective dialogue, collaboration, and the exchange of best international practices in research, development, innovation, and maritime services.

Innovation focus

Dr. Sheikh Saeed bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al-Maktoum, the Executive Director of the DMA, reiterated the Authority’s commitment to leveraging research, development, and innovation to enhance integrated logistics programmes in keeping with the highest professional safety standards, best environmental practices, and local and international regulations, positioning Dubai as a global leader.

“This is a clear indication of the effectiveness and efficiency of Dubai Maritime Authority’s comprehensive development strategy. Dubai’s achievements in the Leading Maritime Capitals index reflect its strength and economic attractiveness, distinguishing its position as a global hub for security and stability, leading in advanced areas of security, technology, financial matters, and green technology,” he added.

In addition to the LMC ranking, Singapore has retained its title as the leading maritime city in the world for 2024, while Dubai led the Arab maritime capitals and ranked 11th globally, showcasing initiatives within its strategic plans to advance its global position and excel in this vital sector.
