The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) team at Emirati-Jordanian camp for Syrian refugees in Mrajeeb Al Fhood has successfully facilitated a joyous Eid Al Fitr celebration for Syrian refugees residing there.

Underscoring the ERC’s unwavering commitment to child welfare, the Deputy Director of the relief team, Yousof Al Harmoudi, emphasised their mission to provide a comprehensive well-being experience for camp residents, particularly children, mirroring that of those outside the camps.

“The ERC team at Mrajeeb Al Fhood is dedicated to fulfilling all essential needs of the refugees,” said Al Harmoudi. “This encompasses providing food, clothing, medical supplies, shelter, and additional crucial support. Recognising the significance of entertainment in fostering child development, we prioritise addressing the emotional well-being of all refugees, especially the younger population.”

Al Harmoudi further detailed the team’s participation in Eid Al Fitr prayers alongside the refugees, followed by customary celebratory greetings and the distribution of Eid gifts, specifically designated for children and orphans.

To further enrich the festive atmosphere, the camp administration partnered with a local company to organise a series of engaging events. These events included cultural competitions, artistic performances showcasing the rich tapestry of Emirati, Jordanian, and Syrian folklore, face painting, henna artistry, and appearances by popular cartoon characters.

The Eid festivities, held across various locations within the camp, witnessed a significant turnout from residents, fostering a spirit of unity and celebration.

It is noteworthy that the ERC remains a critical source of support, ensuring the overall well-being of over 6,000 Syrian refugees residing in the camp.

The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) continues distributing humanitarian aid to the people of the Gaza Strip as part of the “Galant Knight 3” humanitarian operation launched by the UAE to support the brotherly Palestinian people.

Over 311,730 individuals have benefited from the initiative, receiving vital supplies like food parcels, relief kits containing essential hygiene items, and tents.

The ERC had also operated 11 charity kitchens to distribute meals to displaced people in Rafah, Khan Yunis, and the Central Governorate.

The UAE, under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, promptly provided relief aid when the events unfolded in the Gaza Strip. His Highness directed the immediate provision of $20 million in urgent help to support the Palestinian brothers through the UNRWA.

Additionally, the UAE hosted a thousand Palestinians suffering from cancer in Gaza to receive treatments in the country’s hospitals. It also accommodated a thousand Palestinian children with their families in state hospitals until their recovery.

The country launched the “Tarahum – for Gaza” campaign to aid Palestinians affected by the war. It also sent urgent medical and relief assistance and initiated the “Galant Knight 3” humanitarian operation in November. The operation further solidified this commitment, establishing a comprehensive field hospital within Gaza and constructing six water desalination plants providing clean water to over 600,000 residents.

The ERC launched a humanitarian aid convoy for the residents of the Gaza Strip as part of its annual winter campaign, “Be Their Warmth”, delivering a remarkable 1.65 million winter clothing items and blankets to residents across Gaza.

ERC reviews restoration progress across Syrian schools

The visit is part of the “My School is My Identity” initiative launched by the ERC to facilitate students’ return to school by rehabilitating and maintaining some 40 schools before the next academic year….reports Asian Lite News

A delegation from the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), led by Hamoud Abdullah Al Junaibi, Acting Secretary-General of the ERC, was briefed about the latest developments in the maintenance and rehabilitation of several schools in the Syrian governorate of Latakia.

The visit is part of the “My School is My Identity” initiative launched by the ERC to facilitate students’ return to school by rehabilitating and maintaining some 40 schools before the next academic year. The schools are spread across various areas of the governorate, some of which were completely closed in the wake of the earthquake that hit the country on 6th February.

The initiative involves maintaining classrooms, halls, health facilities, toilets and administrative halls and providing them with the necessary equipment and furniture during the early recovery phase following the earthquake.

Al Junaibi said the initiative was launched after a thorough assessment conducted by the ERC in Syria, which focussed on schools affected by the earthquake, noting that related rehabilitation and maintenance work is progressing rapidly to ensure the schools are ready to receive students before the start of the next academic year.

He also affirmed that the ERC in Syria continuously monitors the maintenance and rehabilitation of the schools covered by the initiative, ensuring that the related work adheres to the highest technical standards, restoring the schools to their previous conditions and improving them.

Mohammed Khamis Al Kaabi, Head of the ERC Delegation in Syria, said the initiative aims to instil a sense of attachment to the schools among their students and preserve the properties to make them an integral part of their identities.

The “My School is My Identity” initiative, along with other humanitarian and relief initiatives launched by the ERC in Syria, are paving the way towards recovery from the fallout of the earthquake, he added.
