Dubai will host the fourth edition of AccessAbilities Expo, as part of the distinguished efforts by the government and private organisations to empower People of Determination and enable them to contribute to shaping the future of the UAE during the next 50 years.

The event is under the patronage of Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group.

Sheikh Ahmed underlined how the UAE has been moving forward on the path of building an inclusive society for People of Determination and their families, within the framework of the National Policy set by the government to ensure they have access to opportunities, experiences and distinctive lifestyles available to anyone else in the country. \

He said: “The UAE aims to be a global leader in providing the highest quality of life and happiness for all who reside on its land. The Expo will help us fulfil our commitment to People of Determination by bringing in the latest technologies, services and initiatives available for them all over the world. The public and private sectors will be able to use this event to meet and cooperate with international counterparts, create a common platform and thus build a sustainable future that meets the aspirations of People of Determination.”

The Expo, the largest of its kind in the Middle East, North Africa and the Indian subcontinent, will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) from 15 to 17 November 2022 on an area of ​​over 12,000 square metres with a strong participation of local and international governmental agencies, organizations, healthcare and rehabilitation centres for People of Determination.

This edition comes after the resounding success it achieved in the previous editions and Nadd Al Shiba Public Relations and Event Management, the organisers of the Expo, expects the number of companies and centres participating in the exhibition to exceed 250 exhibitors from 60 countries. It will attract more than 10,000 specialized visitors from across the world and several events and activities specializing in rehabilitation, sports, arts and health are being organised alongside the exhibition.

Daniyal Qureshi, Exhibition Director, said: “We are grateful for the exceptional interest we have received from international government agencies, companies and rehabilitation centres to participate in the next AccessAbilities Expo. We are preparing ourselves for the largest edition in the history of this event and have also started planning a larger number of collocated activities with industry experts and leaders all over the world. We hope to offer an unparalleled programme to our attendees that will contribute greatly towards improving the quality of life for People with Disabilities and facilitating their inclusion and empowerment across every facet of life.”

The Expo’s next session comes after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the keen willingness of both local and international exhibitors to meet again under one roof to present initiatives, plans and modern technologies to improve the quality of life for People of Determination, especially after the isolation and the additional challenges they faced over the last two years.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, attended a ceremony hosted by the Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Leadership Development to celebrate the graduation of the first batch of its ‘Dubai Leaders Program’ and the fourth batch of its ‘Impactful Leaders Program’.

During the ceremony which took place at Expo 2020 Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed also announced the launch of the second batch of the ‘Dubai Leaders Program’, which aims to develop the capabilities of government employees nominated by director generals of various government entities. He also announced the opening of registrations for the ‘Impactful Leaders Program’.

“Building leadership capabilities is a continuous journey and the main driver of our progress. We look forward to developing the competencies of promising employees, which is critical to our ability to keep pace with the rapid changes taking place across the world and to raising our profile globally in every sector,” His Highness Sheikh Mohammed said.

Congratulating the graduates, Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of The Executive Office of His Highness, said preparing and training leaders is vital to the UAE’s success in the next chapter of its development.

Saif bin Zayed tours Vatican Pavilion at Expo 2020

H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, has visited the Vatican Pavilion (Holy See) during his tour in Expo 2020 Dubai…reports Asian Lite News

In the Pavilion that is located in the Mobility District, Sheikh Saif was able to see the rare manuscripts, historical documents and other displays that deepen human communication and explore the many common grounds between East and West.

Council discusses UAE’s initiatives and projects

The Ministerial Development Council, chaired by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, held its meeting at Expo 2020 Dubai and discussed several topics, including federal legislation designed to advance the government work further.

The Council also discussed the amendment of the Federal Decree-Law on Public Finance to raise the efficiency of financial performance and manage the Federal Government’s financial resources by adopting the best international standards and the proper application of all financial procedures on the accrual basis of accounting.

During the meeting, the Council explored the preparation of legislation to organise the practice of medical professions by physicians and pharmacists and set up standards for practicing and licensing these health professions to achieve the best health services for members of society.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, emphasised the importance of volunteering, which he said, brings the community together to lend a helping hand to people in need, and fosters the development of a stronger and more cohesive society.

The Crown Prince today attended a ceremony organised by Watani Al Emarat Foundation on Sunday at Expo 2020 Dubai to honour around 600 volunteers on the occasion of ‘International Volunteer Day’. The Crown Prince praised the efforts of volunteers and called on members of the Dubai community to contribute to initiatives that promote the greater good, wellbeing and development of society.

During the event, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed announced the launch of the ‘Day for Dubai Majlis’, an initiative aimed at supporting the ‘Day for Dubai’ initiative he launched in 2017 to promote social responsibility among Dubai’s citizens and strengthen the values and spirit of volunteerism. The initiative encourages every resident to share the gift of their time by dedicating at least a day of the year to use their talent and skillset in a voluntary capacity to help those in need, improve and maintain their city and community, and protect the environment.

The event was also attended by Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, and the Director General of Expo 2020, and Dherar Belhoul Al Falasi, Member of the Federal National Council and Director General of the Watani Al Emarat Foundation, along with members of organisations supporting the ‘Day for Dubai Majlis’ initiative.

Reem Al Hashimy said the ‘Day for Dubai Majlis’ initiative will contribute to deeply embedding a culture of volunteerism in the nation and its society. She praised the social role played by volunteers and highlighted the contributions of volunteers to the success of Expo 2020.

Dherar Belhoul Al Falasi also hailed the initiative which he said will have a positive impact on UAE society. He reiterated the support of the Federal National Council in line with the strategic vision of the country and its leaders.

The ‘Day for Dubai’ initiative was launched in 2017 with the aim of mobilising volunteers to support initiatives inspired by the ‘Year of Zayed’ and ‘Year of Giving’ and reinforce Dubai’s status as the most giving city in the world.

ENOC Group to open 14 compact stations in Dubai

ENOC Group, the Official Integrated Energy Partner of Expo 2020 Dubai, announced its partnership with Nakheel to open 14 compact stations across Dubai. The first compact station out of the 14 stations opened at Dragon Mart 2 earlier this month. The compact stations will offer customers accessible and convenient refuelling services.

ENOC Group to open 14 compact stations in Dubai

Dragon Mart’s compact station is designed to cater to residents living across nearby residential communities like International City as well as visitors to Dragon Mart. The compact station is equipped with eight dispensers, allowing for fuelling on both sides of the station, offering Special 95, Super 98 and Diesel, and a vending machine. With a capacity of 90,000L, the compact station will be able to fuel 1,200 vehicles per day.

As part of the partnership with Nakheel, ENOC Group plans to open 14 compact stations across Nakheel’s iconic projects in Dubai. The next compact station to be opened will be in International City with plans to open by Q2 of 2022. By Q3 of 2022, the Group plans to open 5 more compact stations in Dubai with the remaining 7 to be launched across additional locations by 2023.

Omar Khoory, Chief Assets Officer, Nakheel said: “We are excited to be forging such a forward-looking partnership with ENOC, as we introduce 14 sustainable, efficient and safe compact stations, with the first launch taking place in Dragon Mart, a key retail attraction and the second due to open in International City, one of the largest residential hubs. At Nakheel, we constantly strive to find new ways to enhance the services that are connected to our malls and the opening of the ENOC station is a testament to our efforts to deliver convenience to both our retailers and customers.”

Dragon Mart’s compact station is equipped with solar photovoltaic (PV) panels and will deploy technologies that contribute to enhancing energy efficiency, such as the Vapour Recovery System – a process that enables the recovery of 70 per cent gasoline vapour emissions. The compact station is also designed with a fuel tank set up above the ground, which facilitates the ease of setting up and re-assembly if required. The double wall design and build of the tanks is certified to the highest international UL Listed safety standards.

The compact station deploys a number of best HSE practices to enhance safety measures, such as the installation of overfill prevention valve, audible alarm, pressure vacuum vents, and emergency vents for the inner and outer wall. Customers can use different methods of payment including ENOCPay, ViP, and Dubai Now.

MBR, MBZ Launch UAE Rail Programme

The UAE Government has announced the launch of the UAE Railways Programme, the largest integrated system for transporting goods and passengers across the country, in the presence of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

The programme constitutes an integrated strategy for the railway sector in the UAE for the coming decades, as it includes a national network of railway projects that link the emirates and the key cities of the country. The first phase of the Etihad Rail has been fully operational since 2016, with opportunities to expand beyond the borders of the UAE.

The UAE Railways Programme falls under the ‘Projects of the 50’ which is a series of developmental and economic projects that aim to accelerate the UAE’s development, transform it into a comprehensive hub in all sectors and establish its status as an ideal destination for talents and investors.

The UAE Railways Programme was launched during a special event celebrating the projects of the 50, held at Dubai’s EXPO 2020.

The event highlighted the objectives of the programme and the phases of the “Etihad Rail” project, which connects Ghuwaifat on the border with Saudi Arabia to the port of Fujairah on the Eastern Coast.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said, “The Etihad Rail is the largest project to consolidate the strength of the union for the next fifty years. It will connect 11 key cities and regions across the UAE.”

He added, “The UAE’s infrastructure is among the best in the world, and the Etihad Rail will further enhance UAE excellence in the logistical field. The project comes in line with the environmental policy of the UAE and it will reduce carbon emissions by 70-80 percent,”.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan said, “The National Railways Programme reflects the true meaning of integration into our national economic system, as we see the largest partnership between government entities at the federal and local levels. It comes to support a national vision to connect the country’s key centres of industry and production, open new trade routes and facilitate population movement, creating the most developed work and life environment in the region.”

Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court, and Chairman of Etihad Rail, said that the UAE Railways Programme is a key milestone in the road transport sector and a true reflection to ‘The Principles of the 50’.

He added that the UAE Railways Programme extends an opportunity to qualify and train Emirati talents and enable them to lead this vital sector in the future.

Qualifying and training national cadres

Shadi Malak, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Rail, said that the Etihad Rail is operated by Emirati talents who possess an exceptional experience they gain during Phase one and two, pointing out that the UAE Railways Programme provides more than 9,000 jobs by 2030.

Malak added that the Rail Passenger Services will enhance the transportation system across the UAE allowing passengers to travel from Abu Dhabi to Dubai in 50 minutes, and from Abu Dhabi to Fujairah in 100 minutes.

The programme aims to develop a sustainable road transport system that supports economic development efforts in all sectors, including the environment, industry and tourism. The programme also aims to connect the emirates of the UAE and provide a reliable transportation system.

The investments of the UAE Railway Programme amount to AED50 billion, 70 percent of which targets the local market. The programme contributes to providing more than 9,000 jobs in the railway sector and supporting sectors by 2030.

The programme contributes to reducing 70-80 percent of carbon emissions over the next 50 years, a move that supports the UAE’s efforts to preserve the environment and achieve its goal of carbon neutrality.

The programme includes three key projects; the first project is the Freight Rail, which includes the Etihad Rail freight services.

The second project is the Rail Passenger Services that aim to connect 11 cities with the UAE from Al Sila to Fujairah. At a speed of 200 km/h the Rail Passenger will connect 11 cities within the UAE, where passengers can travel from Abu Dhabi to Dubai in 50 minutes, and from Abu Dhabi to Fujairah in 100 minutes.

By 2030, the number of passengers is expected to reach more than 36.5 million annually.

The third project is the Integrated Transportation Service, where an innovation centre will be established to ensure the integration of the smart transportation solutions. A network of light rail will be connected to the Rail Passenger System to facilitate transportation inside UAE cities.

India’s start-up prowess in full display at Expo

Ten Indian start-ups showcased their innovations to global investors from the UAE and around the world at the third session of the ‘Elevate’ pitching series held on Sunday in Dubai. Gracing the occasion was Dr. Aman Puri, Consul General of India in Dubai, and Duncan Mulima, Consul General of Zambia in Dubai.

The Indian start-up ecosystem currently has over 57,000 start-ups from 628 districts across all 28 states and eight Union Territories, registered with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and it is expanding even further.

Elevate pitching session series is a key initiative of The India Pavilion in order to display unconventional solutions created by 500 Indian start-ups over the course of five months at the Innovation Hub bus stationed outside the India Pavilion. The objective is to facilitate innovators and start-ups to get adequate exposure and attract B2B connects at the global stage.

The spirit of innovation and technology is an initiative that has seen significant support from Dr. Aman Puri, who said, “Innovation is the key to growing India’s international trade at an exponential rate and achieving a competitive edge globally. Indian entrepreneurs are working on disruptive technologies to infuse growth in every sector.”

India is the country which in 2021 is amongst the top 3 creators of unicorns in the world. Amidst the extreme challenges posed by the global pandemic, 35 new unicorns came into existence in India, taking the total number of unicorns to 72.

Contesting start-ups represented their innovative capabilities in sectors such as lifestyle, mobility, agriculture, healthcare, IT Solutions, education, app-based solutions, sustainability, and many more. The finalists included, – Kregzo, a holistic start-up ecosystem provider; Swiss Newater India Pvt. Ltd., providing green solutions for good hygiene and infection prevention; Store 2 Door, e-commerce support technology solution providers; Shopvite, offering smart shopping solutions; Goals101, a Transaction Behavioural Intelligence (TBI) company; ECOWARE, India’s largest sustainable food packaging company; LogisEye, logistics service providers; Hamples, new-age Digital Sampling Platform; Sentient Labs, advanced marine robotics solutions; and ioLetics, smart retail solutions & digitalization company.

Elevate series provide start-ups the opportunity to gain knowledge about the global sectoral trends, best practices followed around the world, get mentoring from sector experts and a networking platform to interact with fellow new-age entrepreneurs, innovators and investors.

The first Elevate session saw 10 start-ups across sectors from the States of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, pitching their ideas to over 15 investors, while the second session observed 13 start-ups from Telangana presenting their ideas.

An interesting panel discussion is in the pipeline and will be held on December 15 for India-based unicorns to discuss how technology is driving the innovative start-up ecosystem.

Al Jaber began his tour by visiting the Democratic Republic of the Congo pavilion, where he heard about the country’s most prominent investment opportunities in fields such as tourism and industry along with the natural wonders that the country offers.

He also watched an interactive panoramic presentation outlining the integration between humans and artificial intelligence, as well as a series of strategic projects in transportation, digitization, manufacturing, human capital development and the environment.
