Hindu Forum of Europe marks Diwali at European Parliament

Delegates from Italy, Britain, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Poland, Luxembourg and Spain attended the event.

The Hindu Forum of Europe hosted Diwali at the European Parliament in Brussels recently, attended by delegates from Italy, Britain, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Poland, Luxembourg and Spain. The event began with welcome address by President of HFE Dr Lakshmi Vyas, lighting of the lamp and shanti paath by Krishna Krupa Dasa.

During the two-hour event, President of India Delegation MEP Morten Lokkegaard, Ambassador of India to Belgium, Luxembourg and the European Union Santosh Jha, Ambassador of Nepal to Belgium, the Netherlands & Luxembourg Gajendra Rajbhandari, MEP Maxette Pirbakas, HFE spiritual advisors Swami Amarananda and Swami Rameshwarananda Giri, Kishan Manocha from ODIHR (Office of the Democratic Institution & Human Rights), BK Sister Jaymini Patel have all spoken on the significance of Diwali celebrations. The dignitaries were presented with beautiful shawls.

The event was also focussed on cultural significance which promoted classical dance performers who mesmerised the attendees with gracious and lovely performances. Invocation through classical dance was presented by Ragasudha Vinjamuri, followed by dances of Devhita Mondal, Aradhya Golcha, Mahika Golcha & Naisha Singhvi.

The event concluded with vegetarian dinner.

Hindu Forum of Europe celebrates Diwali in Luxembourg

Luxembourg witnessed a vibrant Diwali recently where attendees from Luxembourg, different parts of Europe, and the UK have congregated to celebrate the festival.

The celebrations began with an offering to five macro elements (fire, water, wind, earth, and ether), prayers, and the blowing of the conch by Krishna Kripa Dasa. Dr. Lakshmi Vyas, President of Hindu Forum Europe outlined the history and activities of HFE since its inception in 2006.

Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of India to Belgium and Luxembourg Debasish Prusty extended Diwali greetings to all and highlighted that the festival is a time to celebrate the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil.

The inaugural had classical dance presentations- Kathak by Arsha and Bharatanatyam by Ragasudha Vinjamuri, followed by a classical Tamil song by Mrs. Uma Rangarajan. The cultural program also included Bharatanatyam by Vedhikha, songs by young Om Sankar and Diya Ganesh, and semi-classical Bollywood dances by Nishi Joshi-Bhatt and a local young troupe.

Help and support from various people were acknowledged on the occasion, and a vote of thanks was rendered. The evening concluded with an Indian meal provided by the restaurant Kripa.

The event was co-organised by Hindu Forum Luxembourg spearheaded by Ambi Venkataraman and team, who also highlighted the activities of HFL and the plan to build a Shiva Vishnu Hindu Temple in Luxembourg. There were also other presentations of communal interest made on the occasion.

Hindu Forum of Europe marks Diwali with key messages

A friendly Diwali meeting was recently organised by the Hindu Forum of Europe during which the members and invited guests have presented messages of spiritual essence, philosophy and the spirit of Hinduism.

Monks, Swamis, community leaders, volunteers promoting Hindu values in different parts of Europe have highlighted peace, understanding, environmental care, cooperation, unity and togetherness, including the economic aspect of Diwali festivities.

Dr Lakshmi Vyas, President of Hindu Forum of Europe has opened the session and later has read the message from Sonoo Malkani, Chair of Harrow Interfaith. Dhiraj Shah, President of VHP-UK, Swami Rameshwarananda Giri and Tarang Shelat were also in attendance.

Dr Ragasudha Vinjamuri, Associate Lecturer at the University of Sunderland in London and Founder of Sanskruti Centre for Cultural Excellence rendered the Vote of Thanks.
