According to the residents, a series of powerful explosions were heard following the airstrikes.

The airstrikes came hours after the Houthis claimed responsibility for launching three ballistic missiles at a Saudi military base in the kingdom’s southern region of Asir. Riyadh alleged all missiles had been intercepted and destroyed, Xinhua news agency reported.

Houthi rebels threaten to ban Saudi Arabia’s products

Yemen’s Houthi rebels have threatened to ban Saudi Arabia’s products from entering the war-torn nation…reports Asian Lite News

Yemen’s Houthi rebels have threatened to ban Saudi Arabia’s products from entering the war-torn nation in response to the Kingdom’s boycott on Lebanese products in retaliation to the remarks of a Minister in Yemen.

“If Saudi Arabia bans the products of Lebanon for the position taken by the Minister of Information George Kordahi, then I call on the (Houthi) Yemeni government to hold an emergency meeting to take a decision of banning Saudi products,” he Houthi-run al-Masirah TV reported on Saturday citing a tweet by Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, the head of the militia’s revolutionary committee.

Saudi Arabia has recalled its Ambassador to Beirut, asked the Lebanese envoy in the Kingdom to leave within 48 hours and banned Lebanese products as a protest to Kordahi’s remarks that described the Riyadh-led coalition war on the Houthi militia in Yemen as “absurd”.

Other coalition countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Kuwait, also adopted similar measures.

Kordahi’s remarks were broadcasted earlier this week on an Arab media network.

However, the Lebanese government said the Minister’s remarks were made months before his appointment.

The Iran-backed Lebanese Hezbollah has shown support to Kordahi’s remarks, according to Lebanese media.

Saudi Air Defence intercepts three ballistic missiles launched by Houthi militia

The interception caused debris to scatter across the (Dahyat Al-Dammam) neighbourhood, which resulted in the injury of two Saudi female and male children… reports Asian Lite News

Saudi Air Defence has intercepted and destroyed three ballistic missiles and three bomb-laden drones launched by the Houthi militia towards the Eastern Province, Jazan and Najran.

Brigadier General Turki Al-Malki, Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of Defence, in a statement carried out by official news agency (SPA), said, “Saudi defences have intercepted and destroyed on Saturday evening a ballistic missile launched by the terrorist, Houthi militia from Sana’a using civilian objects as a launch site towards the Eastern Province of the Kingdom.”

The interception caused debris to scatter across the (Dahyat Al-Dammam) neighbourhood, which resulted in the injury of two Saudi female and male children, and minimal damages to 14 houses, he added.

“This brutal, irresponsible behaviour by the militia, through the attempted targeting of civilians and civilian objects, contradicts all divine teachings and humanitarian principles, and reflects the reality of the military operations’ conduct on the ground; as the militia’s positions in the battlefronts have severely deteriorated, and it has suffered heavy losses in key field commanders,” read the statement.

“The Ministry of Defence will undertake all necessary and deterrent measures to protect its territory and national capacities, stop these hostile, cross-border acts of aggression and safeguard civilians and civilian objects under the customary International Humanitarian Law,” it concluded.

Prince Salman, US Defence Secy discuss regional security

Recently, two senior US officials had expressed concern over humanitarian situations in the aftermath of Houthi militia’s attacks on Marib, which they said needs more humanitarian assistance….reports Asian Lite News

United States Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin spoke with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Wednesday and emphasised America’s commitment to helping Saudi Arabia defend its territory and people, the Pentagon said.

Austin and the crown prince discussed regional security, particularly efforts to end the war in Yemen, and “ongoing bilateral efforts to improve Saudi Arabia’s defences,” Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said in a statement.

Austin “noted Saudi Arabia’s recent successes in defeating Houthi attacks on the Kingdom” and thanked the crown prince for working with the US special envoy for Yemen, Tim Lenderking, to end the war, Kirby said.

Recently, two senior US officials had expressed concern over humanitarian situations in the aftermath of Houthi militia’s attacks on Marib, which they said needs more humanitarian assistance.

During a virtual meeting with Governor of Marib Governorate Sultan Al-Erada, US envoy to Yemen Tim Linder King and Charge d’Affairs of the US Embassy in Yemen Cathy Westley praised the role played by local authority of Mairb and cooperation of local nationals, affirming the US rejection of Houthi militia’s attacks on the displaced and civilians.

They pointed out that the United States seeks to reach comprehensive solution to Yemen’s crisis.

For his part, the Governor of Marib asserted that the Houthi militia seeks to prolong the war in order to serve the Iranian agenda, expressing gratitude to US envoy’s statements, positions and understanding of Yemen’s case.

US slams humanitarian toll of Houthi Marib offensive

Lenderking also called for an increase in “humanitarian aid and other support for the people of Marib.”…reports Asian Lite News

The US special envoy to Yemen has expressed Washington’s concern over the “devastating humanitarian consequences” of the Houthi militia’s offensive in Marib.

US envoy Tim Lenderking was speaking during a meeting with Marib Governor Sultan Al-Arada, that was also attended by Cathy Westley, in charge of affaires for the US Embassy to Yemen, the State Department said, reported Arab News.

Lenderking also called for an increase in “humanitarian aid and other support for the people of Marib.”

“US envoy to Yemen listened to their concerns about the economic situation, security, the need for diverse voices, and the importance of a transparent peace process. We continue to work with the international community to address these concerns as we strive for a ceasefire and political talks,” Press Office for the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, US tweeted.

The Iran-backed Houthi militia mounted an offensive in February to capture oil and gas-rich Marib from forces loyal to the internationally recognized government.

The campaign has faced international condemnation due to Marib also being a safe haven for thousands who have fled the fighting in other parts of the country since the war started in 2014.

Lenderking also held talks with UN envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths in the Jordanian capital, Amman, to discuss his trip to the Houthi-held capital Sanaa.

“Both expressed an unwavering commitment to the principle that a comprehensive, nationwide cease-fire is needed immediately to bring much-needed humanitarian relief to the people of Yemen,” the State Department said, as per Arab News.

Lenderking and Griffiths also met with women activists “to discuss the importance of an inclusive peace process” and underlined Washington’s commitment to supporting women’s inclusion in Yemen’s peace process.

“When women play an active role in peace building, resolutions are more durable,” the statement said.

Arab coalition strikes Houthis in Yemen

The strikes on Saturday targeted Houthi positions and their military vehicles on the frontlines in western and northern districts of Sirwah and Madghal…reports Asian Lite News

The Saudi-led Arab coalition launched multiple airstrikes on Houthi positions in Yemen’s oil-rich province of Marib, a government military source said.

The strikes on Saturday targeted Houthi positions and their military vehicles on the frontlines in western and northern districts of Sirwah and Madghal, the source told Xinhua news agency.

Meanwhile, Houthi-run al-Masirah TV reported 15 coalition airstrikes on Houthi positions in the two districts.

The Iran-backed Houthis began in February a major offensive against the Saudi-backed Yemeni government army to capture Marib, which hosts over 2 million internally displaced people.

The UN has warned that the assault on Marib could lead to a major humanitarian catastrophe.

A recent UN-brokered negotiation between Yemen’s warring sides and other relevant parties has failed to produce any agreement of cease-fire.

Yemen has been mired in a civil war since late 2014 when the Houthi militia seized control of several northern provinces and forced the internationally recognized government of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi out of the capital Sanaa.

The Saudi-led Arab coalition intervened in the Yemeni conflict in March 2015 to support Hadi’s government.

Arab Parliament slams Houthi attacks

Arab Parliament reiterated that “security of Saudi is a basic pillar in the Arab national security”…reports Asian Lite News

The Arab Parliament (AP) has condemned the Yemeni Houthi militia attacks using explosive-laden drones and ballistic missiles on targets in southwestern Saudi Arabia.

“The continuing escalation and targeting of civilians in Saudi Arabia reflect the Houthis’ challenge of the international law and rejection for all the political efforts to end the crisis in Yemen,” the AP said in a statement on Monday.

It reiterated its support for Saudi Arabia in the measures taken to protect the safety and security of its lands, adding that “security of Saudi is a basic pillar in the Arab national security”, reports Xinhua news agency.

The AP attributed the aggression of the Houthi militia to the reluctance of the international community to take a firm stand for deterring all the violating practices.

Saudi-owned Al Arabiya TV reported on Sunday night that the Riyadh-led coalition had intercepted and destroyed six bomb-laden drones and a ballistic missile fired by the Houthi militia from Yemen toward Saudi southern border cities.

The attack came a day after the Houthi militia lost dozens of fighters in a battle with the Yemeni government forces backed by the Saudi-led coalition airstrikes in the oil-rich Marib province.

In February, the Houthis launched a major offensive to capture the province.

They have since stepped up cross-border missile and drone attacks against Saudi cities and oil facilities.

Most of the attacks were reportedly foiled by the coalition.
