LJP Finalises Seat-Sharing Deal With BJP in Bihar

Chirag Paswan, who represents the Jamui Lok Sabha seat, thanked BJP leaders after the seat-sharing agreement was finalised….reports Asian Lite News

Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) president Chirag Paswan on Wednesday said that the seat-sharing agreement with the BJP in Bihar for the Lok Sabha elections has been finalised and a formal announcement will be made soon.

Paswan, who represents the Jamui Lok Sabha seat, thanked BJP leaders after the seat-sharing agreement was finalised.

“As a member of the NDA, today in a meeting with BJP National President Hon Shri @jpnadda ji, we have together finalised the seat sharing in Bihar for the ensuing Lok Sabha polls. The same will be announced in due course,” Paswan posted on X.

Paswan told reporters that NDA will make efforts to win all 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar.

“I want to thank PM Modi for always protecting me in the alliance. He always treated Ram Vilas Paswan as his friend. Today, again we have strengthened our alliance NDA. Today, after the seat-sharing has been done for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, I want to thank BJP national president JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. LJP will fight the elections with the intention that all the 40 seats in Bihar should be won by the NDA alliance and achieve the target of 400 seats in the country,” he said.

Chirag Paswan and his uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras, who is a union minister, have been claiming the Hajipur seat.

Pashupati Kumar Paras had founded Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party after splitting with Chirag Paswan. Paras is MP from Hajipur, a traditional LJP seat that Ram Vilas Paswan won many times.

Meanwhile earlier, Paswan had asserted that his alliance was only with the people of Bihar.

Addressing a rally in Sahebganj block in Vaishali Lok Sabha constituency, he said: “I have an alliance only with the people of Bihar and if anyone is thinking that he would bend or break me, then he is living in misconception. Chirag Paswan is the son of a lion. He will not bend or break before anyone.”

“I have no desire for power at present or in future. I have an alliance only with the people of Bihar. Besides them, I have no other commitment,” he said.

Chirag Paswan also attacked the current state government, saying that the state was not robbed by one party but several parties had looted it in the past.

“Many governments came to Bihar but its status did not improve. In fact, It is heading towards ruination. Now, the election is coming and leaders will come before the people of Bihar. I want to appeal to people to ask questions about the promises they made in the previous election. The public should identify those leaders who have not fulfilled the promises,” he said.

After the rally, Chirag Paswan returned to Patna and went to Delhi. Interacting with media persons at Patna airport, he said that seat-sharing will be finalised soon. “Our discussion on the number of seats and constituencies has already been completed. It is a matter of time before we announce it jointly,” he said. (ANI)

Paswan ousted as leader of LJP in Lok Sabha

The LJP was founded by Chirag Paswan’s father Ram VIlas Paswan, who passed away in October last year….reports Asian Lite News

High political drama unfolded on Monday after Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) President Chirag Paswan was unseated as the leader of the party in the Lok Sabha by his uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras.

The LJP was founded by Chirag Paswan’s father Ram VIlas Paswan, who passed away in October last year.

Five out of the six LJP MPs in the Lok Sabha went against Chirag Paswan, leaving him isolated in his own party, which was formed by his father 21 years ago.

Chirag Paswan had taken over the reins of the party after the demise of his father ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections last year.

Speaking to reporters in the national capital, Pashupati Kumar Paras said, “There are six MPs in our party. It was the desire of five MPs to save our party. So I have not split the party, I have saved it.”

Commenting on the role of Chirag Paswan in the party, Paras, who is the youngest brother of Ram Vilas Paswan, said, “Chirag is my nephew as well as the party’s national president. I have no issues with him.”

Paras also praised Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and said, “Nitish Kumar is a good leader and Vikas Purush (development man).”

He further stated that the LJP will be with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) as it was the wish of his late brother.

Paras also urged the leaders who had left the party after the demise of his elder brother to return to LJP, alleging that some people had “overtaken” the party after the death of Ram Vilas Paswan.

Besides Paras, Chirag’s cousin Prince Raj, Mahmood Ali Kaiser, Veena Devi and Chandan Singh are among the rebel MPs.

Following the drama, Chirag drove to his uncle’s house for talks, but stayed in his car. Even Paras did not come out to greet him either. He came out of the house an hour later.

Chirag had decided to contest the Bihar elections without any alliance. After the decision, the ruling Janata Dal-United in Bihar received a massive blow as it lost on several seats due to the triangular contests.

Chirag had led an aggressive campaign in Bihar and had questioned Nitish Kumar’s governance model in the state.
