Erdogan presents MBZ with Turkish-made electric car

President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan today presented a Turkish-made electric car to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, during the Turkish President’s official visit to the UAE.

President Erdogan described the gift of the Togg electric vehicle as an expression of his pride in the strong relations that unite the two countries.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed expressed his appreciation to the Turkish President for the generous gesture, and wished Türkiye and its people further progress, growth and prosperity. He also conveyed his best wishes for the future success of Türkiye’s national projects and industries, and for their contribution to the country’s sustainable development and economic growth.

Aviation activities

The strong economic relations and tourism, trade and investment cooperation between the UAE and Türkiye are evident in their aviation activities.

Their national carriers act as key connectors to promote tourism and discover business and investment opportunities, with dozens of daily flights offering travellers more convenience and choices.

Travel between the UAE and Türkiyehas seen a recent surge in demand. Emirati national airlines said they have risen to the challenge, as Türkiye is a vital market, adding they have witnessed a remarkable rise in journeys to Turkish locations.

The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) said as part of its efforts to enhance air transport relations and increase opportunities for trade and economic cooperation with other countries, an air services agreement signed by the UAE and Turkiye in 1986, which governs their air transport relations and facilitates flights between the two nations.

The UAE’s national carriers operate 157 weekly flights from the country’s airports, while Turkish airlines run 80 weekly flights to Emirati airports, totalling 237 weekly flights between the two countries.

During the first half of this year, the number of passengers flying from Emirati airports to Türkiye reached 448,487, and the number of arrivals was 565,318 passengers. Meanwhile, the number of transit passengers through UAE airports was 459,313.

President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on Monday received at Qasr Al Shati, Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Prime Minister of Malaysia, who is on a working visit to the country.

President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed welcomed Prime Minister Yaakob, hoping that his visit will contribute to enhancing friendship and cooperation relations between the two friendly countries across various domains.

Sheikh Mohamed conveyed his greetings to King of Malaysia Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, wishing him good health and happiness and further progress and prosperity to Malaysia and its people.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed joint cooperation and opportunities for partnerships between the two countries in economic, investment and trade domains, as well as renewable energy, food security and other aspects to achieve the aspirations of their peoples.

They also reviewed a number of developments on the regional and international arenas and exchanged views on issues of common interest.

For his part, the Malaysian Prime Minister expressed his happiness at meeting President Sheikh Mohamed and thanked him for the warm reception, affirming his country’s keenness to cooperate with UAE in all economic, investment and other vital domains.

The meeting was attended by                                   Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court, and a number of officials, in addition to the delegation accompanying the Malaysian Prime Minister.

Recently, state-owned Mubadala Energy confirmed the discovery of a good quality gas reservoir penetrated by the Cengkih-1 exploration well in Block SK320, off the coast of Sarawak province, offshore Malaysia. Preliminary analysis shows a significant gas column of more than 110 metres within the pinnacle carbonate reef reservoir.

The Cengkih-1 exploration well is located nearby the Pegaga field, one of the fields within the SK320 Block, which recently marked the successful production of commercial gas. The Pegaga field recorded the discovery of 1 Trillion Cubic Feet of additional gas initial in place, following the post-drill results, confirming a larger and better quality reservoir.

MBZ receives Modi’s letter on boosting ties

Jaishankar conveyed the Modi’s greetings to Sheikh Mohamed and his wishes for further progress and prosperity for the UAE and its people, reports Shaneer N. Siddiqui

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received a letter from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding strengthening the strategic relations between the two countries and the prospects of developing them to serve their common interests.

Sheikh Mohamed received the letter during a meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, who is currently on a visit to the United Arab Emirate to attend the meetings of the 14th session of the UAE-India Joint Committee and the third session of the UAE-India Strategic Dialogue.

At the beginning of Friday’s meeting, which took place at the Al Shati Palace, Jaishankar conveyed the Modi’s greetings to Sheikh Mohamed and his wishes for further progress and prosperity for the UAE and its people.

For his part, the UAE President conveyed his greetings to the Prime Minister, wishing India and its people further development and prosperity.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed various aspects of their bilateral relations and the importance of cooperating to enhance and advance them within the framework of their comprehensive strategic partnership and the UAE-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), in addition to a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern.

The meeting was also attended by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Advisor for Special Affairs at the Ministry of Presidential Affairs; Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; and Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Adviser to the UAE President.

The delegation accompanying Jaishankar was also present.

On the same day, Sheikh Abdullah chaired the third session of the UAE-India Strategic Dialogue, which was held in Abu Dhabi.

The Indian side was headed by Jaishankar.

During the session, the two sides discussed issues of common interest and prospects for enhancing bilateral cooperation, in line with the CEPA.

They also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern.

MBZ attends banquet hosted by Macron

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Monday attended a banquet hosted by the French President Emmanuel Macron.

During the dinner, held at Palace of Versailles, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed extended thanks and appreciation for hospitality and warm welcome.

He added that the Emirati-French ties are distinguished as they are based on confidence, credibility and mutual respect. “They were established with all the love and sincerity by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan with the French leaders,” he said. ”It is true that we have political and economic ties, but our cultural cooperation represents our utmost collaboration and this mirrors the quality of this strategic partnership.”

The UAE President expressed his confidence that through joint action, the two countries can provide more opportunities for enhancing in their relations, and jointly contribute to establishing peace and security in the region and the world.

President Macron described the visit as “historic”, referring to the last visit paid by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan during the era of François Mitterrand, Former President of France. ”This was 30 years ago and since then we have come a long way, as the relations became a partnership and then moved to an alliance that was strengthened by friendship between the two countries, he indicated.”

He added said, “Through your new presidential duties, you will continue your efforts to make the UAE a strong, stable, diversified and growing economy and an influential member of the international arena in addressing global and regional challenges. France has been and will remain a faithful friend to you to achieve this aspiration. Our relations are based on two main pillars: loyalty and reliability.”

He also emphasised that hope and belief in the future that the two countries build together is an integral part of the bilateral relations.

He said, “I welcome you to a land that you are familiar with. We share places that are symbolic for youth and culture with Abu Dhabi, including the Louvre Museum and the Sorbonne University. The UAE has also become a familiar and natural destination for the French people as more than 25,000 of its citizens chose the UAE as the destination for French ambition.”

The French President also welcomed the signing of the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement on the transformation in energy and renewable energies fields, which will avail responding to the challenge facing the world, which is the climate challenge.

He also wished success for the UAE in hosting of COP28 summit in Dubai in 2023 after seven years of the Paris Agreement.

”Your ambition has met expectations and France will stand by you in your preparations to meet this deadline,” he indicated.

Macron welcomed expanding of space cooperation between the two sides, which extends to the moon and manned space flights. Cooperation mirrors the level of our relations, as it is has no borders, he concluded.
