‘Pathaan’ makers reveal name of John Abraham’s character

Bollywood actor John Abraham is playing the arch-enemy of Shah Rukh Khan’s titular character in the upcoming spy-action theatrical film ‘Pathaan’. The name of John’s character has now been revealed and he’s called Jim in the film.

The makers are constantly dropping small bits of information from the film to the fans and audiences. They recently released the jukebox of ‘Pathaan’ and it interestingly has a Pathaan theme track and a Jim theme track which led to fans figuring out that John, who plays Pathaan’s arch-enemy, is going to be called Jim!

‘Pathaan’, which belongs to Aditya Chopra’s ambitious spy universe, has the country’s biggest superstars Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham.

Director Siddharth Anand had earlier revealed that he will present John in a super slick avatar in ‘Pathaan’. He had said, “I have always believed in the fact that the villain’s projection should be as big, if not bigger than that of the hero’s. Only when the villain is massive, can the tussle between them be spectacular. And we have an extraordinary battle when SRK takes on John.”

The film, produced by YRF, is set to release on January 25, 2023 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

MP politicians fume over Deepika’s saffron costume in ‘Pathaan’

Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s upcoming Bollywood flick ‘Pathaan’ may face problem in Madhya Pradesh as both the ruling and the opposition have objected to the saffron costume worn by the actor in the film.

Responding to the film promos, State Home Minister Narottam Mishra on Wednesday termed the costumes and scenes in the film “obscene and condemnable”. It should be corrected, or the state government will be forced to take a decision the screening of the film.

Objection has been raised over Deepika Padukone’s saffron costume in a song titled ‘besharam rang’. Released on Tuesday, the song is trending on social media.

Reacting on the controversy, state home minister Narottam Mishra said, “Actress Deepika Padukone’s costume is highly objectionable and the song has been shot with a dirty mindset. The scenes and costumes of the songs should be changed, or we will have to take a decision on ist screening in Madhya Pradesh,” Mishra said while accusing the actress of supporting the ‘Tukde Tukde’ gang.

Notably, leader of opposition in Madhya Pradesh Assembly Govind Singh has also expressed his anger on costumes in the song. “The scenes of the song and costumes are highly objectionable. Such things are not acceptable in Indian culture,” Singh said while talking to the reporters on Wednesday.

The right wing Sanskriti Bachao Manch also joined the bandwagon and staged a protest against the film calling “saffron a shameless colour with obscenity.” The members of Sanskriti Bachao Manch protested against Deepika Padukone’s dress, as she was seen wearing saffron-coloured clothes.

Chandrashekhar Tiwari said, “This is an insult to our saffron dress, which Sanskruti Bachao Manch will not tolerate. Shahrukh Khan, when Hindus started boycotting your film, you remembered Vaishno devi. You will have to apologise to all Hindus and remove the song from this film because the people of India have made you a superstar. Shahrukh Khan, why are you always degrading your image by doing such acts? You should apologise to all Sanatan Dharma believers.”

Deepika in her most glam avatar ever in ‘Pathaan’

‘Pathaan’ director Siddharth Anand said that the makers wanted to present Deepika in her most glamorous avatar yet in the upcoming actioner.

The director said: “Deepika Padukone, apart from being a fantastic actor who has grown with each film, is also the hottest actress of our country. Casting her for the character in the film was as organic as it could get. She can be vulnerable and yet very, very sexy just effortlessly.”

“So, when you have her in the film, you have to present her in a way that does complete justice to her.”

He added: “I wanted to present her in her most glam avatar ever. That became a mission for the team and me. So, for Besharam Rang, when she is in a visually stunning coastal town of Europe, dancing with Shah Rukh Khan, we decided to just maximise how hot DP could look on screen! And the result will be unveiled when you see this amazing song.”

Filmmaker Siddharth Anand talks about the vision for the superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s cool look in the upcoming spy action film ‘Pathaan’.

Siddharth says, “Shah Rukh Khan has sported countless looks that have shaped the pop-culture of our country and inspired generations of youngsters to dress like the king of Bollywood.”

“His looks are associated with moments and memories of people and it won’t be wrong to say that he has made India more fashionable through his style in films. So, it was a task and a big challenge to craft a look that is extremely different for SRK, who is playing a daredevil spy in Pathaan!”

He added “We wanted to capture the essence of his character which is inherently cool through what he wears and also his hairstyle. We wanted to make SRK the symbol of alpha and machismo, someone who is effortlessly cool and hot at the same time, through his look.”

“Going by the reaction his look is getting, I think we have done the job of giving his millions of fans worldwide yet another look that they can be proud of and shower love upon.”
