Aditi Rao Hydari Joins L’Oreal Paris at Cannes 2024

The first thing starts with a great base with very good skin skin. So I use the hyaluronic acid from L’Oreal Paris, I love it. I use it a lot on skin I like I literally bathe in it because I think it’s very good for hydration and it keeps my skin very supple and bouncy and then you know you can put a very light I like like my skin to shine through so I don’t do a lot of good prep for my skin…Aditi Rao Hydari interacts with Lothungbeni Humtsoe

Bibbojaan aka Aditi Rao Hydari is delighted to be part of the L’Oreal Paris family at the Cannes Film Festival. The actress who shone in her latest performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi, knows her appearance is eagerly anticipated at the world’s most glamorous red carpet. IANSlife spoke to the actress about her role in the Netflix series, her Cannes outing and her association with the cosmetic giant.

Read Excerpts:

Many Indian celebrities have taken a turn on the Cannes red carpet, what do you believe it requires to create a fashion statement that endures?

ARH: Representing L’Oreal Paris at Cannes is a significant honor for me. L’Oreal Paris has been the official partner of the Cannes Film Festival for 27 years. As a spokesperson for L’Oreal Paris, I feel a great responsibility, but I also believe I align with their brand philosophy, which emphasizes self-worth and confidence. Finding confidence from within, being comfortable with your uniqueness, and being authentic are qualities that make a lasting impression.

To me, that’s what matters most, whether in fashion, work, or just being yourself. It’s about being authentic and enjoying the process. Making an appearance can be daunting and nerve-wracking, but I remind myself that it’s a beautiful opportunity and part of my personal journey to truly feel worthy.

Can you tell us about your association with L’Oréal Paris and what values of the brand which make it a suitable alignment?

ARH: To me, it is a tremendous honor to serve as the spokesperson for a legacy brand like L’Oreal Paris. This brand embodies not just external beauty but also the inner beauty that stems from confidence and self-assurance. Representing beauty with confidence is what makes L’Oreal Paris truly special. The alignment of countless women with the brand’s philosophy speaks volumes. For me, this partnership has been seamless and something I’ve always aspired to. Being the face of this brand is a moment of pride for me, and I hope my association with L’Oreal Paris continues.

What are the inspirations behind your looks for the Cannes 2024 season?

ARH: Well, look number one is out of the bag and the rest will be revealed in real time. You know, and there’s a time for it to be out and it’s nice for it to come out when it should come up.

Your recent performance in Heeramandi has been lauded as one of your best… Do you believe the director and producer play a pivotal role in bringing out the best in the actor?

ARH: There are six leads, and I’m one of them, and all of us have been appreciated a lot. I’m so overwhelmed that, you know, Bibbojaan has been called a standout performance, it’s also a very beautiful character. And every heroic character arcs, I think that has touched a chord with people and resonated and connected, and I’m very, very grateful for that. I do believe I’m a directors actor, and I credit Sanjay Leela Bhansali, completely for creating the Bibbojaan journey, which has challenged and nurtured me. So all the praise that I’m getting and all the credit that I’m getting, I credit him for it.

What aspects of Bibbojaan do you believe capture the essence of the L’Oréal woman?

ARH: I think that she’s very comfortable with being who she is. She stands for what she believes in. Despite her circumstances. I think that makes very beautiful from within. I also think the Bibbojaan is a perfect combination of fire and grace. She is beautiful. In every way, she’s kind, she’s generous, she’s loving, she’s loyal, but there’s a fire in her, a fire towards a higher purpose, which makes her stand up for any kind of injustice and that makes her live a life of purpose with complete fearlessness. She’s actually a very relevant modern woman who I think we can all relate to.

Your personal favourite products from L’Oréal Paris to achieve an iconic look, and more.

ARH: The first thing starts with a great base with very good skin skin. So I use the hyaluronic acid from L’Oreal Paris, I love it. I use it a lot on skin I like I literally bathe in it because I think it’s very good for hydration and it keeps my skin very supple and bouncy and then you know you can put a very light I like like my skin to shine through so I don’t do a lot of good prep for my skin.

I also feel you know something that can take you from the girl next door to glam is the L’Oreal Paris infallible resistance liquid lipstick, I always have it my bag. It’s a great formula, it’s got incredible pigment and it just doesn’t move from your lips. It just stays, so there’s no transfer to glasses and stuff like that. You know, when I’m on the go, the event days are long the interview days are long days. So I really I mean I think it’s really amazing lipstick and I really I think the great formulation that they’ve come up with these are the two things that are my favourite and that I really count on when it comes to makeup.

Can you share expectations about the Cannes Film Festival 2024 in one sentence.

ARH: Me being in Cannes is a legacy and it’s the home of cinema and it’s magical; it’s like being in Wonderland.

‘Fashion Should Be Effortless, Authentic, and Fun

‘Heeramandi’ also stars Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal and Sanjeeda Sheikh…reports Asian Lite News

Actress Aditi Rao Hydari, who oozes elegance in every outfit that she wears, feels that fashion should be effortless and there shouldn’t be any burden.

With 10.9 million followers on Instagram, Aditi’s social media feed is full of pictures of her wearing Indian outfits, traditional wear, gowns, co-ord sets, pantsuits and floral dresses.

Speaking about what fashion means to her, Aditi told IANS: “Fashion is something that comes from within you. You can play with fashion, but I believe fashion can be created from my cupboard, your cupboard, my sister’s cupboard or my brother’s cupboard also. Fashion is fun. And sometimes fashion ends up costing a lot, but sometimes you can create from your own thing. It’s about being creative.”

She went on to say, “When I started in 2011-12, that time I didn’t care, but after a few years it became a burden for me that I have to look glamorous, wear heels, put on makeup. But I was always like I don’t want to do all these things. I used to say that I will do this on screen but not in real life.”

“But in the last 4-5 years I feel like I am what I am, I am who I am. I will sit for an interview without makeup, with my hair all tied up. I feel my heart has to connect to you. And if this connects everything else works. Fashion, face, skin everything else also falls into place. And, I think fashion should be effortless. There shouldn’t be any burden. Maybe some people will like it, some will not. If you feel good, then do it,” shared Aditi, who is most recently seen as Bibbojaan in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s debut web series ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’.

If she follows any Gen-Z trends? Aditi said she doesn’t know about any trends but wears whatever she feels like.

“Sometimes things that are in trend are ‘behuda’. If I don’t like things which are in trend I don’t wear them. But in my everyday clothes, I decide it myself. I take it out from my cupboard and wear it. For me, fashion should be effortless, and it should be authentically you. If you are going for an event, then you can do all the ‘taam jhaam’,” she said.

Aditi added: “For me, it’s important to be effortless. Even if I wear a maang tikka, I should feel like I woke up like this.”

‘Heeramandi’ also stars Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal and Sanjeeda Sheikh.

The series is streaming on Netflix.

The Indian actress shares that it is the place where one can surround themselves with the best of cinema and also “bump into people who you have watched growing up.”

Talking about the advantage for an actor to go to a festival like Cannes, a very happy Aditi shared: “I think bumping into meeting people who you have watched growing up or even now… Films and filmmakers. It is all about cinema. For me, cinema is like magic to me and I always thought it was beyond my reach. So, I actually feel lucky and blessed to be a part of the Indian film industry.”

This time the Indian pavilion at the Cannes Film Market will present six films at the festival – ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ (Hindi, English, Tamil), ‘Godavari’ (Marathi), ‘Alpha Beta Gamma’ (Hindi), ‘Boomba Ridea (Mishing), ‘Dhuin’ (Maithili) and ‘Niraye Thathakalulla Maram’ (Malayalam).

The ‘Wazir’ actress says she is looking forward to watch the Malayalam film ‘Niraye Thathakalulla Maram’.

“This year in fact, it is special because 75 years of India on 75 years of Cannes and commemorating it by honouring India and Indian film industry and there will be a lot of people there… But Malayalam part of the competition I am looking forward to watching it… It’s a place where you surround yourself with cinema and best of cinema and people for whom cinema is a passion.

“There it will be cinema time infinity… I think it is great opportunity like that to meet people and watch cinema from the world. I think festival brings the world closer… I feel the world is somewhere coming closer, there is more inclusivity.”

Aditi was supposed to attend the prestigious ceremony two years ago courtesy a make-up brand but everything was put on hold due to the global outbreak of Covid.

“I am nervous because I am not nervous yet… But I am very, very excited and I hope that I can keep that excitement and enjoy the whole process and I hope this time which is so magical and exciting. I was supposed to go the year that lockdown happened. So, now I am going and this is my first time,” she said.

Apart from watching movies and strutting the red carpet, Aditi hopes to go around cafes and try French food.

“I am actually (looking forward to French food). I love French food. I hope I have time to sit in a cafe and feel French but I don’t know if my schedule will allow me but yeah I am looking forward to that experience.”

“And that’s why I am going on saying you know what you imagine as a kid growing up… I want to experience like that. So, I want to have fun, I want to enjoy it and I want to feel lucky I am there. I don’t want these four days to go under pressure.”

She is also looking forward to being around “films”.

“And I think that’s what makes its so special and of course there is the fashion element as well which all of us stalk non stop but I think primarily films being magical and beyond reach and Cannes is everything that represent that. It is literally the home of cinema.”

“It’s aspirational almost to be there and be a part of the whole festival and I think that magic is something that I am looking forward to. I want to be in front of that blue water on a windy day and experience that French Riviera in all its effortless beauty.”

That’s not it!

Aditi knows that she will be under the scanner. However, she does not let the pressure of that dim her excitement.

“People are going to be very strict and judgemental and they will be watching through a microscope and I understand it. I have a responsibility nd I am going to be watched very closely but at the same time I am telling myself that everybody have to do their job and I have to do mine which is to fulfil my responsibility but also to have fun for myself. That is something I want to do for myself.”
