Akasa Air Set to Soar Globally

It’s worth noting that existing traffic rights on prominent India-Middle East routes, such as Dubai and Doha, are already fully utilised…reports Asian Lite News

Akasa Air, a budget-friendly airline, has secured authorisation to operate international flights.

According to sources, the airline is poised to commence international routes in December, with initial destinations centred around Middle Eastern nations.

However, the airline awaits the allocation of traffic rights by the government and subsequent approval from the relevant countries. These traffic rights are typically granted reciprocally on a bilateral basis by governments to airlines of their respective nations.

It’s worth noting that existing traffic rights on prominent India-Middle East routes, such as Dubai and Doha, are already fully utilised.

“Akasa Air (M/S SNV Aviation Pvt ltd.) had sought approval for designation as a scheduled international carrier and subsequently requested for allocation of traffic rights. The proposal was examined in consultation with DGCA and it has been decided with the approval of competent authority, to allow Akasa Air (M/s SNV Aviation Pvt ltd.) to mount international operations subject to their continued compliance with the AIC 10 of 2022 dated 19.04.22,” read the letter issued by S.P.R Tripathi, Under Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation.

“Further, as per DGCA, Akasa Air is eligible to apply for international scheduled air transport services. However it is also informed that based on the traffic rights to be allocated to Akasa Air( M/s SNV Aviation Pvt Itd.) by this ministry, the scrutiny of country specific preparedness will be carried out by DGCA as per CAR Section-3, Part-II before permitting Akasa Air (M/s SNV Aviation Pvt ltd.) to operate scheduled international operations,” the letter added.

“The Ministry of Civil Aviation has recognised the strength of Akasa Air’s operations and we have been designated as an International Scheduled Operator. This new designation will allow us to fly internationally, enabling us to take one step closer to our dream of launching international operations before the end of this year. We are now working with all

relevant authorities on our request for traffic rights and will soon be able to announce the international destination we will fly to,” said the airline spokesperson.

“We are targetting destinations within the range of a 737 MAX from India in South Asia, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. We are also on track to announce a three-digit aircraft order by the end of this year to serve the

growing travel demand. We have always prioritised reliability and customer satisfaction through detailed planning and an experienced team, allowing us to become one of the fastest-growing airline in civil aviation history,” said the spokesperson.

Without disclosing the exact number, Vinay Dube, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Akasa Air, said that by the end of the year, the airline will place a large order for aircraft, which will take the fleet size to three digits.

“We will continue to strengthen our network and service offerings and extend an unmatched travel experience to our passengers. Bengaluru being our first home is special in many ways, and we are proud of the growing connectivity we are able to offer from the city.

“As we plan our next phase of expansion to serve India’s increasing travel demands, both domestic and international, we remain committed to our focus of connecting people, cultures and cities underscored by our warm, efficient and inclusive customer service,” he said.

Six months into operation, the airline is operating more than 700 weekly flights across 14 domestic destinations, including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, Chennai, Cochin, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Agartala, Goa, Vizag, Pune, Lucknow, Hyderabad and Varanasi.

With 36 daily flights from Bengaluru, Akasa Air is the third largest domestic carrier in the city. The airline has flown a total of 0.5 million passengers from the city, which contributes to 70 per cent of the total number of passengers flown across its network to date.

Akasa Air finally take to skies

Akasa’s network strategy will be to connect metro cities with smaller towns across India…reports Asian Lite News

Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia will on Sunday inaugurate Akasa Air’s first commercial flight that will operate on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route.

Earlier, on July 22, India’s newest airline Akasa Air on Friday opened ticket bookings for its first commercial flights with an initial network in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Kochi.

Initially, Akasa Air, whose airline code is QP, will launch its operations by offering 28 weekly flights between Mumbai and Ahmedabad starting August 7, 2022.

Earlier, in July this year, the ace investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala-backed airline received the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the civil aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

Akasa Air would fly between Mumbai to Ahmedabad on August 7, on its inaugural day, and would later expand the routes to Bengaluru-Kochi (August 12 onwards), Bengaluru-Mumbai (August 19 onwards), Bengaluru-Ahmedabad (August 23 onwards).

Akasa’s network strategy will be to connect metro cities with smaller towns across India. The network will expand in a phased manner and connect more cities as the airline has planned to add two aircraft each month in the first year.

“We are extremely excited to finally be able to offer up our flights for sale. We are also excited to reveal our product which promises to be unlike anything experienced in the category thus far. With Akasa employees providing warm and efficient customer service, a reliable and dependable network, and affordable fares – we look forward to serving our customers with a flying experience that I am sure they will find delightful”, Vinay Dube, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Akasa Air, had said earlier.
