Diwali Special Drinks Spotlight: Rampur Double Cask Diwali Spiced Manhattan Bottled Cocktail and Jaisalmer Gold Indian Craft Gin

Rampur Distillery has launched a limited edition Diwali Spiced Manhattan Bottled Cocktail made with Rampur Double Cask Indian Single Malt Whisky. This Diwali Spiced Manhattan is the perfect blend of Rampur Double Cask Indian Single Malt Whisky, Sweet Red Agora Rosso Vermouth and Bittermens Buckspice Ginger Bitters. Each bottle contains five cocktails. Simply stir over ice, pour into a chilled coupe glass and garnish with a dehydrated orange wheel. The Diwali Spiced Manhattan bottle is adorned with Diyas, which are oil lamps or decorative candles that are lit during Diwali festival celebrations.

Rampur Double Cask Indian Single Malt Whisky

Produced at India’s oldest distillery, Rampur Distillery, located in the foothills of the Himalayas, Rampur Double Cask Indian Single Malt Whisky is distilled in traditional copper pot stills. The malt matures for two-thirds of its life in handpicked American Bourbon Barrels and a third in European Oak Sherry Casks before being non-chill-filtered. 

Jaisalmer Gold Indian Craft Gin

Jaisalmer Indian Craft Gins are also produced at Rampur Distillery and the latest expression, Jaisalmer Gold also makes for a great Diwali gift. 

Jaisalmer Gold Indian Craft Gin is infused with 18 handpicked botanicals, of which 14 have been sourced from India including Coriander from Jaisalmer, Saffron from Kashmir, Nagpur Orange Peel, Darjeeling Green Tea, Gandharaj Lemon Peel from Eastern India, Nutmeg from Karnataka, Cinnamon from Kerala, Locally Sourced Rose Petals from around the distillery, Lemongrass, Bay Leaf, Liquorice Root, Vetiver, Black Pepper and Pink Pepper. Other botanicals include Juniper Berries, Angelica Root, Carraway and Cubeb Pepper. 

It takes between 150,000 – 250,000 saffron crocus flowers just to get 1kg of saffron threads and it takes many hours to handpick the flower and pick the threads. The liquid is then enhanced by Gold filtration to produce Jaisalmer Gold Indian Craft Gin. This unique production process occurs wherein the Gin slowly passes through a filter made of intertwined golden silk filament, enriching the Gin with gold ions and providing a clean, smooth and balanced taste.

The bottle is inspired by the timeless architecture of the palaces and windows carved out of yellow sandstone in Jaisalmer.

J&K gears up for grand I-Day celebration

Lieutenant Governor urges the district administration to galvanize efforts and weave a tapestry of activities under the banner of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan’

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha presided over a significant meeting, orchestrating a comprehensive review of the preparations for the forthcoming Independence Day celebrations across the mesmerizing expanse of Jammu Kashmir.

The meeting, a convergence of esteemed administrative and police officials, was a testament to the collective dedication to ensuring a splendid tribute to the nation’s 76th year of sovereignty.

Gracing the event were key figures in the administrative landscape, including Dr Arun Kumar Mehta, Chief Secretary, and Dr Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor, who together exemplified the essence of administrative prowess and unity.

The presence of administrative secretaries, ADGPs, Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, SSPs, and other esteemed officers, both physically and virtually, emphasized the expansive scope and gravity of the occasion.

With an unwavering sense of duty and responsibility, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha embarked on a thorough assessment of the meticulously planned campaigns and events that are poised to grace the journey leading up to the grand Independence Day spectacle.

A fervent directive followed, as the Lieutenant Governor ardently urged the district administration and various departments to galvanize their efforts and weave a tapestry of activities under the banner of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan’.

This call to action resonated deeply, transcending bureaucratic boundaries and ushering in a wave of commitment that promises to paint the region in the vibrant hues of the tricolour.

In a gesture that underscored the inclusive nature of the festivities, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha beckoned upon the common citizens to actively participate in the commemoration.

With a vision encompassing Public representatives, Youth Clubs, Civil Society, Self Help Groups, NCC Scouts and Guides, Army veterans, ex-servicemen, prominent citizens, and educational institutions, the Lieutenant Governor nurtured a collective spirit that embraced the true essence of unity.

“The celebration of Independence Day is a sacred festival that binds our society together with a thread of oneness and shared emotion,” emphasized the Lieutenant Governor, reminding all present that this occasion transcends the realms of mere governance and resonates as the heartbeat of the nation.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, the culture department was entrusted with a unique responsibility — to meticulously chronicle the lives of the nation’s martyrs, immortalizing their sacrifice in the annals of history.

Additionally, the Lieutenant Governor’s vision extended to the majestic illumination of prominent edifices, picturesque tourist spots, and quaint border villages, resonating with the vibrant energy of patriotism. A symphony of activities honouring the eminent personalities who have been the cornerstones of nation-building would further enliven the celebrations.

Beyond the thematic orchestration, the meeting delved into the progress of ongoing developmental endeavours and the unwavering dedication of the district administrations to fulfil the envisioned targets. The room was an embodiment of a shared commitment, a mosaic of leaders dedicated to ushering their region into a future adorned with prosperity and progress.

UP’s grand plans

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanth on Tuesday said the 76th anniversary of the country’s independence will be celebrated in Uttar Pradesh by saluting the soil and worshipping the heroes (‘Mitti ko naman,veeron ka vandan’).

According to an official statement, the independence day celebrations in the state will kick off on Wednesday and will continue till August 15. The state government is planning to organise many events in villages, cities and the state capital, Lucknow.

On August 9, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will formally launch a week of programmes in Kakori by taking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Panch Prana’ pledge for Amrit Kaal, honouring families of fallen soildiers, and planting 75 saplings.

Reviewing preparations for the Independence Day celebrations, on Tuesday, the chief minister said it is a festival for every citizen. “Every state resident should participate in this. The main function, which will take place in the capital on August 15, should be broadcast live in all villages and towns,” CM Yogi was quoted as saying in an official release.

The CM also urged the people to hoist the Tricolour at their homes on Independence Day during the ‘Amritkal’.

Further, according to the official press note, this year, there will be a special performance by a cultural troupe of Sikkim State at the main I-Day function in the state. The CM directed the ministers in his government and the local public representatives to be present at the programmes lined up in the districts and local bodies.

11 killed, 486 injured during Fire Festival celebrations in Iran

At least 11 people have been killed and 486 injured in Iran during the celebrations of Chaharshanbe Suri, or Fire Festival, the Iranian state TV has reported…reports Asian Lite News

Among the wounded, 49 people were amputated following severe injuries on Tuesday, Xinhua news agency reported citing Mojtaba Khaledi, spokesman of Iran’s Emergency Organisation.

Most of the casualties, up by 47 per cent from last year, occurred in the past four or five days, Khaledi said.

The Fire Festival is celebrated by Iranians on the eve of the last Wednesday before Nowruz, the Iranian new year, which begins on March 21 this year. The celebrations this year started days ago and reached their climax on Tuesday evening.

Iranians celebrate the Fire Festival by jumping over bonfires and using firecrackers in public places, which are the rites performed to bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new year.

Bangkok cancels New Year countdown events amid fear of Omicron

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has announced that it will cancel all of its new year countdown events due to potentially rapid spread of the Omicron strain of Covid-19…reports Asian Lite News

According to Deputy Governor of Bangkok Kriangyos Sudlabha, all new year’s eve activities including Buddhists chanting hosted by the BMA across all 50 districts will be cancelled, Xinhua news agency reported.

However, private events are still allowed as planned but each event must implement stricter measures against Covid-19 such as screening, cleaning and social distancing protocols, Kriangyos said.

All event attendees must present proof of vaccination or a negative Covid-19 test result within 72 hours, and organisers are required to prepare emergency quarantine areas at the venue in case any infections are found, he added.

As of December 22, more than 100 cases of the Omicron variant have been reported in the country, with several others waiting for the confirmation result.

Thailand has temporarily suspended the registration for quarantine exemption for foreign visitors since December 22 in order to prevent the transmission of the new highly contagious variant.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, on Wednesday hoisted the UAE flag at Expo 2020 Dubai’s Al Wasl Plaza.

Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Media Council, Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

UAE Celebrates Flag Day

The flag hoisting ceremony was held to mark UAE Flag Day, observed on 3rd November of every year. The UAE Flag Day marks the anniversary of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s assumption of office as the President of the country.

Hundreds of students from public and private schools and trainees from the Dubai Police Academy, as well a number of senior citizens took part in the celebration at the Expo 2020 Dubai venue to express their allegiance and love for their homeland.

These ideals have continued to inspire the UAE’s progress under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates. The UAE flag will continue to be a symbol of the determination of UAE citizens to lead, excel, and create solid foundations for the future, His Highness added.

Sheikh Mohammed noted that the UAE Flag Day celebrations are taking place at a time when the country is poised to enter a new phase of growth and success after its remarkable recovery from the global pandemic that proved its resilience and ability to overcome any challenge.

At the end of the ceremony, His Highness stressed the importance of honouring the UAE Flag and instilling the values of loyalty among younger generations at an early stage.

A collection of gown-style lehengas, trails and embellished veils detailed with the label’s signature feathers and intricate sequin embroidery were the stuff dreamy wedding ensembles are made of set in the magnificence of one of the world’s most renown Wonders. With a colour palette scaling from muted tones to pastels and deep hues, the bridal line has been completely hand-crafted by master artisans from the brand’s adopted villages. Designer Reynu Tandon showcased her couture collection ‘Zuri’, which was an amalgamation of traditional design techniques and modern silhouettes with heavily embellished lehengas, mermaid-gowns and shararas on display. The designer roped in actress Chitrangda Singh to be part of her fashion film.

19 years in industry, Sonu finds ‘true calling’

“It took me 19 years to find the right role of my life, which I am doing today and I am glad that God is the director of this real film…says Sonu.

Sonu Sood is a very familiar actor to Bollywood and to other industries too, with his charity-related activities amid the Covid crisis. Actor Sonu Sood, who completed 19 years in the film industry on Monday, says he has finally found his true calling.

The actor has actively been helping people find Covid resources like beds, oxygen cylinders, as well as medicines, as the country battles the second wave of Covid-19.

“It took me 19 years to find the right role of my life, which I am doing today and I am glad that God is the director of this real film. Today, when I bring smiles to people’s faces, that is the biggest achievement I have till date. I want to thank God for connecting me with the real role that I wanted to play in my life,” he told.
The actor says that workwise, too, the time has gone by so quickly.

“It has been 19 years since my first film ‘Shaheed-E-Azam’ released. How time flies! It still feels like the first day when I entered Mumbai with a lot of pictures in my bag and the struggle started from going from one office to the other. I still feel the struggle is on,” he says.

The actor will be seen in the films “Prithviraj” and “Kisaan”.
