Successful participation by SAIF Zone in the Big Five Show

The Sharjah Airport International Free Zone Authority (SAIF Zone) concluded fruitful participation in the 42nd Big Five, the Mena region’s largest building and construction show, which took place from September 12-15 at the Dubai World Trade Center.

The authority platform has managed to attract representatives of major economic events and those involved in the construction sector from various countries participating in the exhibition to learn more about the Zone’s logistical capabilities and integrated services system that meets the needs of the construction sector.

This includes advanced infrastructure, modern multi-purpose warehouses, and a variety of plots of land with an area of 2,500 square meters.

A considerable number of investors who visited the Zone’s stand were extremely impressed with the solutions the authority offers as a destination for construction companies and related industries in the region. They also showed their interest in the distinguished services it provides to the companies operating in it.

Fruitful participation

It was very successful participation for us in the Big Five, one of the largest building and construction events in the Middle East, said HE Saud Salim Al Mazrouei, Director of Sharjah Airport International Free Zone Authority, noting that the Authority platform attracted a considerable number of investors to learn about the competitive advantages offered by the Zone, which qualified it to be home for major international companies in the construction sector.

He added: “During the event, our team has conducted several meetings with many actors and specialists in this sector to examine the future of the real estate, building, and construction and pass the results to our investors.

Also, we get acquainted with the latest new projects and investment opportunities that the Zone must provide in the future and the services that have to be developed to cater to the needs of the professionals in this sector, he said.

Competitive Advantages

During its participation, the SAIF Zone showcased its various services to investors, which made it one of the most important free zones in the region.

It also highlighted its competitive advantages, including customs clearance, sophisticated infrastructure, state-of-the-art facilities with air-conditioned and furnished executive suites, pre-built warehouses in various sizes with adjacent office space, and lease lands for unrestricted private development.

Other incentives include 100% foreign ownership of businesses, 100 % repatriation of capital and profits, and 100 percent corporate or personal income tax exemptions, 100% import and export tax exemptions. This is in addition to 24-hour services, all licenses issued within one hour, and a hotline that guarantees the availability of immediate manpower, equipment, shipment and customs clearance, 24/7 security and emergency services, and labor accommodation within the zone.

Dubai Chamber launches a new cycle of competition

Dubai Startup Hub, an initiative of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has launched the sixth cycle of the Dubai Smartpreneur Competition, which is open to startups offering innovative solutions in the categories of Sustainability, Opportunity and Trade.

A virtual launch ceremony, hosted by the Chamber earlier today, was attended by Dubai Chamber officials, industry experts, and members of the local startup community, as well as previous competition winners and contestants.

Open to all entrepreneurs in the UAE and abroad, the competition gives the opportunity to become part of Dubai Government’s strategy to elevate the city into a global platform for innovative startups.

It also falls in line with the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to transform the emirate into one of the world’s smartest cities. Startups must submit their entries through the Dubai Startup Hub website by September 30th, 2021.

In his welcome remarks during the ceremony, H.E. Hamad Buamim, President & CEO, Dubai Chamber, noted that the annual competition is one of the most successful initiatives launched under Dubai Startup Hub to date, which has supported the Chamber’s comprehensive entrepreneurship strategy of empowering entrepreneurs and providing them with the knowledge and tools they need to thrive and grow.

Over 2,000 smart business ideas were submitted over the last five cycles of the competition, he revealed, adding that a surge in the number of international submissions was also observed in recent years, reflecting Dubai’s status as a magnet for promising startups from around the world.

The launch ceremony featured an informative presentation outlining the criteria for submissions and the main benefits of participating, which include AED 150,000 in cash prizes for top 3 winners, a four-day bootcamp for the top 30 startups, access to investors and business partners, the top 10 candidates will have an opportunity to pitch live at Expo 2020 Dubai.

Previous Smartpreneur winners Ferkah Lakhany, Co-founder of Arabee; Amine Staali, Co-founder and Chief R&D Officer, ProvenMed; and Kareem Ayyad, Founder of Ceribian, joined a panel discussion where they spoke about their experiences and the benefits they gained from participating in the competition.

Other panellists included Tala Al Ansari, Director of Innovation Ecosystem – Expo 2020 Dubai; and Begona De Albornoz, Corporate Citizenship Lead  – Middle East for Accenture; and Omar Khan, Director of International Offices, who shared their insights on the challenges and opportunities associated with emerging technologies.

Following the submission deadline, entries will be evaluated and shortlisted with the selected candidates then qualifying for the training phase of the competition. At the final stage, the remaining candidates will be trained and guided before the top 3 winners are announced at an awards ceremony at Expo 2020 Dubai.

Israel announces cultural highlight events at the Dubai Expo 2020…reports Asian Lite News

Israel’s pavilion at EXPO2020 announces its series of cultural and entertainment events that will take place during the EXPO2020 in Dubai from 1st October 2021 – 31st March 2022.

Highlights include; January 9th, 2022, which will see the celebration of Israel’s National Day. Israel’s High state officials, will be in attendance to launch celebrations. On the 22nd and 23rd, there will be a special performance by the Jerusalem East and West Orchestra conducted by Israeli Maestro Tom Cohen.

Israel’s culture and entertainment schedule will include more than 20 events and shows, hosted in the Israeli pavilion, additionally, every Thursday evening, the pavilion will celebrate with a party, Israeli style.

The events will proudly present Israel’s unique culture, which includes a huge amount of cultural, religious, and ethnic diversity. As part of Middle Eastern culture, the ongoing dialogue between East and West and between tradition and innovation will be celebrated and felt by all.

Most events will feature musical performances – as according to Josh Bendit, Israel’s Pavilion Director: “Music, as an international language, overcomes language barriers and brings hearts and senses together. Our music beats to the rhythm of unity between different cultures that come together from all over the world.” In addition, the pavilion will host street theatre performances, culinary events and feature key Israeli art exhibitions.

Among the famous names performing at the Israeli pavilion are:

Israel’s most renowned music group, Infected Mushrooms, is set to stage its first-ever, large-scale, UAE concert, hosted in the Jubilee Park on December 13th, 2021.

Korea-UAE Festival fascinates Millions

The most popular Korean K-POP groups including MAMAMOO, B.I.G, ASTRO, NCT DREAM, THE BOYZ, and aespa and Emirati Opera singer Fatima Al Hashmi performed at the virtual event…reports Asian Lite News.

Festivals in 2021 really calling back the past power packed celebrations before Covid era. The Korea-UAE Festival, which was organised by the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in partnership with the Korean Creative Content Agency (KCCA) and the Korea Foundation for International Culture Exchange (KOFICE), attracted 2.73 million viewers.

The festival celebrated the cultural dialogue between the UAE and South Korea in 2020 and 2021 through various activities, most notably the “Korean Content Festival,” which presented Korean content to the Middle East, as well as K-Pop events that featured six K-Pop stars and Emirati opera singer Fatima Al Hashemi.

Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Youth, stated that the festival highlighted the profound friendship between the two countries, which dates back to over 40 years.

“We are looking forward to a new era of dialogue in the upcoming period, which we aim to reinforce through several initiatives taking place this year that will celebrate our mutual values, such as tolerance, coexistence and openness,” she said.

Hwang Hee, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea, said, “There is an Arab proverb stating that those spending time with people for 40 days will become one of them, and now that the friendship between our countries has lasted for over 40 years, we can say that we have become close and loyal friends.”

“We are delighted to gather the peoples of our countries today in a K-Pop performance, in celebration of the cultural exchange year. Music is a common human language that exceeds linguistic and ethnic differences,” he added.

During the Korean Content Festival, virtual seminars were held via video conferencing featuring 24 speakers and suppliers from the Middle East, as well as 28 Korean companies. Some 43 business consultations also took place among the participants.

The most popular Korean K-POP groups including MAMAMOO, B.I.G, ASTRO, NCT DREAM, THE BOYZ, and aespa and Emirati Opera singer Fatima Al Hashmi performed at the virtual event. In particular, a collaboration between the Korean K-POP group and the local singer made the KOREA-UAE K-POP FESTIVAL more spectacular.
