Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have not been invited to Trooping the Colour, the annual public celebration of the British monarch’s birthday, as per a report in the Independent. The couple will likely spend the day with their two children, Princess Lilibet and Prince Archie, at their home in California.

This year, King Charles is re-introducing the tradition of the monarch riding on horseback for the Trooping of the Colour. It will be the first time a reigning monarch will participate in the procession since Queen Elizabeth II in 1986.

The ceremony will feature over 1,400 soldiers, 400 horses and 400 musicians taking part in it. The monarch will receive a royal salute before inspecting the troops, who are clad in ceremonial uniforms and bearskin headgear. The military band will perform and the regimental colour will be paraded through the rows of soldiers.

As in previous years, the majority of the royal family is expected to attend the event. Prince William, Princess Ann and Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh, are expected to ride alongside the King while Queen Camilla, Princess of Wales Kate Middleton along with her three children- Louis, George and Charlotte will likely ride alongside the procession by carriage.

The royal family will then assemble on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to watch a flypast by the military. A colourful flypast will be performed by the Royal Air Force as a grand finale. In addition to this, a 41-gun salute will be fired from the nearby Green Park.

It is to be noted that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex returned to the UK for last year’s Trooping the Colour, the last ceremony held under Queen Elizabeth’s reign. The ceremony was also part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations marking Queen Elizabeth’s seven decades on the throne.

Prince Harry tells court press has blood on its hands

The lawyer then forensically and with increasing hostility quizzed the prince over 33 newspaper articles, whose details Harry claims were obtained unlawfully…reports Asian Lite News

Prince Harry launched a fierce attack on the “vile” press on Tuesday, blaming tabloids for destroying his adolescence and later relationships, as he gave evidence for almost five hours in his lawsuit against a tabloid publisher.

As he became the first senior British royal to appear in a witness box in more than a century, Harry also said the thought of people unlawfully intruding into the private life of his late mother Princess Diana made him “feel physically sick”.

The prince, the fifth-in-line to the throne, and 100 others are suing Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN), the publisher of the Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror and Sunday People, at the High Court in London over allegations of widespread unlawful information gathering between 1991 and 2011.

In his 50-page written witness statement and a day of cross-examination from MGN’s lawyer Andrew Green, the younger son of King Charles said he had been targeted since 1996 when he was a schoolboy.

Harry said the press would try to destroy his relationships with girlfriends, blaming them for his break-up with Chelsy Davy, for causing his circle of friends to shrink, and for bouts of depression and paranoia.

He said he had been labelled a “playboy prince”, a “thicko”, a “failure” and a “drop out”.

“Looking back on it now, such behaviour on their part is utterly vile,” he wrote, saying the tabloids had incited “hatred and harassment” into his and his wife Meghan’s private lives.

In another section he said: “How much more blood will stain their typing fingers before someone can put a stop to this madness?”

Asked to whom he was referring, he said: “Some of the editors and journalists that are responsible for causing a lot of pain, upset and in some cases – perhaps inadvertently – death.”

Green began his questioning respectfully, personally apologising to Harry on MGN’s behalf over one instance in which it admitted unlawful information gathering, saying “it should never have happened and it will not happen again”.

The lawyer then forensically and with increasing hostility quizzed the prince over 33 newspaper articles, whose details Harry claims were obtained unlawfully.

Looking relaxed but serious, and speaking softly but firmly, Harry, the first senior British royal to give evidence for 130 years, said thousands if not millions of stories had been written about him, as Green pressed him on whether he had read the MGN articles in question at the time they were published.

The lawyer intimated that the distress he had suffered was caused by press coverage in general, not the specific MGN stories, and suggested they were based on details already in the public domain.

On a number of occasions, Green described his allegations as “total speculation”.

When asked about the source of information for articles at the centre of his lawsuit, Harry repeatedly said that question should be asked of the journalist who wrote them, saying they appeared suspicious.

Quizzed about one article, Harry said it was “as distressing looking at it now” as it was at the time it was published in 2004. He will be back on Wednesday to give more evidence.

Prince Harry loses legal bid to pay for police protection

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were stripped of taxpayer-funded police protection after they stepped back from being “working royals” and moved to the US in 2020…reports Asian Lite News

Prince Harry has lost a legal challenge to pay for his own police protection when visiting the United Kingdom, London’s High Court ruled on Tuesday.

Prince Harry pays for his own private security when at home in California and when travelling, according to Washington Post. Prince Harry wanted to pay for high-level protection by specially trained police officers who have access to UK intelligence.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were stripped of taxpayer-funded police protection after they stepped back from being “working royals” and moved to the US in 2020.

During the hearing last, Prince Harry’s lawyer argued that he should be allowed to challenge a decision by the executive committee for the protection of royalty and public figures – also known as Ravec. However, Home office lawyers had opposed the idea of allowing wealthy people to buy security from the police.

Last week, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle were involved in a “near catastrophic car chase” involving paparazzi photographers after they attended an awards ceremony in New York. The incident occurred after they left the Ms. Foundation for Women on Tuesday night where Meghan was honoured for her work.

Harry to attend King Charles’ coronation without Markle

Harry and Meghan, who is biracial, have alleged she faced racist attitudes from both the palace and the UK press. The treatment contributed to their decision to leave the country….reports Asian Lite News

Prince Harry will attend his father’s coronation, Buckingham Palace said Wednesday, ending months of speculation about whether the prince would be welcome after leveling charges of racism and media manipulation at the royal family.

His wife Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, will remain at the couple’s home in Southern California with their two young children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, the palace said. A nearly identical statement from the Sussex’s representatives confirmed the news.

The May 6 date of the coronation at Westminster Abbey coincides with their son’s birthday.

While the announcement should silence the “will he or won’t he” debate in the British media, it won’t end the royal soap opera swirling around Harry and Meghan as King Charles III prepares for his coronation.

When the prince attended the funerals of his grandfather, Prince Philip, and his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, commentators discussed everything from whether Harry would be allowed to wear his military uniform to exactly where he was seated. And there is always the question of whether he will meet face-to-face with his father and older brother, Prince William.

That intrigue will only be heightened after Harry and Meghan stoked their critique of the royal family in a six-part Netflix series about their decision to step back from royal duties three years ago, which was followed by Harry’s decision to reveal family secrets in his bestselling memoir “Spare.”

Harry and Meghan, who is biracial, have alleged she faced racist attitudes from both the palace and the UK press. The treatment contributed to their decision to leave the country.

The revelations in “Spare”, including details of private conversations with his father and brother, Prince William, fanned tensions between Harry and his family that became public when he and his wife moved to North America in 2020.

The book also included allegations that members of the royal family regularly feed the press unflattering information about other members of the House of Windsor in exchange for positive coverage of themselves.

The prince singled out Camilla, the queen consort, accusing her of leaking private conversations to the media as she sought to rehabilitate her image after marrying Charles. Camilla was once reviled for her long-term affair with Charles, which contributed to the breakdown of his marriage to the late Princess Diana, Harry and William’s mother.

The acrimony between Harry and his family once again spilled into public view last month when the Sussexes said that they had been asked to vacate their home in Britain.

Frogmore Cottage, a royal residence on the grounds of Windsor Castle west of London, was the couple’s main residence before they gave up royal duties and moved to Montecito, a wealthy enclave in Southern California.

Harry declares war, says William bullied him out of UK

Harry also implies his father (or at least his father’s staff) leaked the story about him and Meghan wanting to move to Canada…reports Asian Lite News

The much-anticipated second volume of “Harry & Meghan”, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s documentary about their experiences with the British Royal Family, has dropped and it’s already making waves in the UK, reports ‘Variety’.

One headline describes the final three episodes of the series as “Harry’s all-out war on William and Charles”, thanks to a series of revelations and accusations the couple make about Prince William, King Charles III, and their staff.

The docuseries suggests, via interviews with the couple’s friend Lucy Fraser, that their first royal tour to Australia shortly after their wedding was where things started to go wrong after the Royal Family saw how popular Harry and Meghan were, adds ‘Variety’.

“The internals at the palace were incredibly threatened by that,” Fraser says, according to ‘Variety’. Harry adds: “The issue is when someone who’s marrying in, who should be a supporting act, is then stealing the limelight or doing the job better than the person who was born to do this. That upsets people, it shifts the balance.”

Among the most explosive claims in the docuseries are that Prince William “bullied him” out of the Royal Family and “traded” stories with the press and his father, King Charles III, told lies about him and possibly leaked stories to the media.

“There’s leaking but there’s also planting of stories,” Harry claims, according to ‘Variety’, of the Royal Family’s relationship with the media. He also said he and his brother, who originally shared an office and staff within Kensington Palace, had sworn never to “trade” stories with the media, a practice he describes as offering journalists a story on members of the family to quash a negative story about to come out about themselves.

“And to see my brother’s office copy the very same thing we promised the two of us would never ever do, that was heartbreaking,” Harry says, although he doesn’t give any specific examples of what stories Prince William tried to suppress.

Harry also implies his father (or at least his father’s staff) leaked the story about him and Meghan wanting to move to Canada.

The prince details how his father demanded Harry and Meghan put their plans to “step back” from the Royal Family in writing, which Harry says he was reluctant to do because the last time he had put similar plans in writing to his father, they had ended up in the media.

Perhaps the most damning claim, according to ‘Variety’, in the entire nearly six-hour-long series is that William bullied Harry out of the royal family.

Harry recalls that after the couple’s plans to leave the UK were made public, a meeting was arranged with Queen Elizabeth II at her country home Sandringham with William and Charles also in attendance.

“It was terrifying to have my brother scream and shout at me and my father say things that weren’t true and my grandmother quietly sit there and take it all in,” Harry says of how the meeting went down, his interview interspersed with videos of the brothers, who are only two years apart, playing together as children.

Harry and Meghan hint Palace ‘leaked, planted’ stories against them

The series, which is directed by ‘What Happened, Miss Simone?’ helmer Liz Garbus, promises an intimate account of the couple’s courtship — and unprecedented access to their tumultuous years as senior royals…reports Asian Lite News

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are about to pull back the curtain on their love story and subsequent retreat from life as working royals for a global audience, reports ‘Variety’. (And looking at the trailer, it seems quite apparent that the six-part Netflix documentary series may not amuse the UK royals.)

Netflix revealed on Monday that the series will premiere in two installments — the first volume of three episodes will drop on December 8, followed by a second batch of three episodes on December 15.

The series, which is directed by ‘What Happened, Miss Simone?’ helmer Liz Garbus, promises an intimate account of the couple’s courtship — and unprecedented access to their tumultuous years as senior royals.

In the second trailer, released on Monday, Markle says at one point, according to ‘Variety’: “I realised, ‘They’re never gonna protect you’.” She was presumably referring to the royal family.

In the minute-long trailer, Markle and Harry seem to indicate that the British media was supportive of the couple until they were married, at which point things changed. “And then [snaps fingers],” says Markle in an interview with Garbus. “Everything changed,” adds Harry.

“There’s a hierarchy in the family,” he continues. “You know, there’s leaking, but there’s also planting of stories.” Towards the end of the trailer, the Duke of Sussex says: “No one knows the full truth. We know the full truth.”

Harry-Meghan’s love story doc trailer released

Markle, a former ‘The Suits’ star, in an interview to camera, adds: “When the stakes are this high, doesn’t it make more sense to hear our story from us?”..reports Asian Lite News

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are about to pull back the curtain on their love story and subsequent retreat from life as working royals, reports ‘Variety’.

After months of mystery, Netflix released a first-look trailer for the highly anticipated documentary series on Thursday.

The project, directed by ‘What Happened, Miss Simone?’ helmer Liz Garbus, promises an intimate account of the couple’s courtship — and unprecedented access to their tumultuous years as senior royals. (‘What Happened, Miss Simone?’, incidentally, is a 2015 documentary on the life and music of legendary singer and activist Nina Simone.)

In the trailer, which shares an array of romantic photos of the couple but none with their two kids, Garbus is heard asking, “Why did you want to make this documentary?” to which Harry responds — in voiceover — “No one knows what’s happening behind closed doors,” ‘Variety’ reports.

“I had to do everything I could to protect my family,” Harry says.

Markle, a former ‘The Suits’ star, in an interview to camera, adds: “When the stakes are this high, doesn’t it make more sense to hear our story from us?”

The 50-second trailer, according to ‘Variety’, which is set to dramatic music and features a flash of Markle and Harry looking at one point visibly emotional during an interview, doesn’t provide a release date for the series, which is merely described as “coming soon”.

Royal watchers and the couple’s supporters will no doubt take note of the timing of the trailer release, which comes just one day after a member of Britain’s royal household, now identified as Lady Susan Hussey, resigned after making offensive remarks to a Black guest at Buckingham Palace during a private event hosted by Queen Consort Camilla. According to ‘Variety’, Ngozi Fulani, a British-born charity head, detailed on Twitter an uncomfortable exchange between herself and a “Lady SH”, revealing that the latter had repeatedly asked her where she “really came from”, to which Fulani kept repeating she was born in Britain. Hussey was Queen Elizabeth II’s lady-in-waiting

Royals not to release Markle ‘bullying’ probe details

Meghan and Harry shocked the royal family when they accused unnamed members of racism during an interview with US talk show star Oprah Winfrey…reports Asian Lite News

The details of a probe into allegations of bullying by the Duchess of Sussex against royal family staff will not be published despite its outcome leading to reform in the palace’s administration, according to a senior family source.

Buckingham Palace launched an investigation last year and gathered testimony from staff about their experiences of working for Meghan, before she and husband Prince Harry quit frontline duties in January 2020.

During a briefing on the annual royal finances report, published Thursday, a senior palace source said the details would remain hidden to protect the privacy of those who took part.

“Because of the confidentiality of the discussions we have not communicated the detailed recommendations,” they said.

“The recommendations have been incorporated within policies and procedures wherever appropriate, and policies and procedures have changed.”

Meghan and Harry shocked the royal family when they accused unnamed members of racism during an interview with US talk show star Oprah Winfrey.

She denied the bullying allegations, which first emerged in March 2021, just before the Oprah interview, and called them “a calculated smear campaign”.

The allegations and the interview deepened a crisis for the family, which has been hit by revelations about Prince Andrew’s links to late billionaire financier and paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

Relations between Harry and his father Prince Charles have reportedly been strained, but a royal source said he had a “very emotional” first meeting with his granddaughter Lili earlier this month.

Harry and Meghan were low-key attendees at the queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, jetting in from California with their children Lili, aged one, and Archie, aged three.

Charles’s charitable foundation is currently under investigation for an alleged cash-for-honours scandal.

Separately, the Sunday Times last weekend reported Charles had accepted £2.5 million ($3 million) in charitable donations from Qatari former prime minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani in carrier bags and holdalls.

The royal source said at the Wednesday briefing the cash was “passed immediately to his charities”.

“For more than half a decade, with the situation as it has evolved, this has not happened and it would not happen again,” the source added.

The briefing was held as the family released its 2021/22 report on the Sovereign Grant, which pays for the monarch’s official duties and upkeep of royal palaces.

The report showed the pandemic was still curtailing the family’s earning power, with income below 50 percent of pre-coronavirus levels as public visits to palaces took a hit.

Keeper of the Privy Purse Michael Stevens warned that the family finances were also likely to be squeezed by rising prices.

Harry and Meghan voice concern to Spotify over Covid-19 misinformation

Rogan has stirred controversy with his views on the pandemic, government mandates and vaccines to control the spread of the coronavirus…reports Asian Lite News

Britain’s Prince Harry and his wife Meghan have expressed their concern to Spotify about COVID-19 misinformation on its platform and are committed to continuing to work with the company, a spokesperson for their Archewell foundation said on Sunday.

Singer-song writers Neil Young and Joni Mitchell are removing their music from Spotify in protest that the popular streaming service has allowed the airing of misinformation about COVID-19 vaccines.

Harry and Ms Meghan signed a series of corporate deals, including producing and hosting podcasts for Spotify, as part of their efforts to make a living following their split with Britain’s royal family announced in 2020.

“Hundreds of millions of people are affected by the serious harms of rampant disinformation every day. Last April, our co-founders began expressing concerns to our partners at Spotify about the all too real consequences of COVID-19 misinformation on its platform,” the spokesperson said.

“We have continued to express our concerns to Spotify to ensure changes to its platform are made to help address this public health crisis. We look to Spotify to meet this moment and are committed to continuing our work together as it does.”

The Swedish company has previously said it worked to balance” both safety for listeners and freedom for creators” and had removed more than 20,000 podcast episodes related to Covid-19 in accordance with its “detailed content policies.”

Young objected to his music being played on the same platform as Joe Rogan’s top-rated podcast “The Joe Rogan Experience”. Rogan has stirred controversy with his views on the pandemic, government mandates and vaccines to control the spread of the coronavirus.

Earlier this month, 270 scientists and medical professionals signed a letter urging Spotify to take action against Rogan, accusing him of spreading falsehoods on the podcast.
