Cong announces five-point list for ‘Rozgar Revolution’

The second point said that the first job of the youth would be confirmed and that the grand old party would provide apprenticeship training to every Diploma or Degree holder youth below 25 years of age in the government or private sector…reports Asian Lite News

Ahead of the ensuing Lok Sabha elections, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday gave assurance regarding the grand old party’s commitment to offer employment opportunities to the youth of the country and annouced a five-pointer list for a new ‘Rozgar Revolution.’

The list included pointers such as ‘Bharti Bharosa’ (recruitment trust), confirmation for the first job, freedom from paper leaks, social security in the gig economy and financial assistance through ‘Yuva Roshni.’

Taking to his social media handle, the Congress Chief mentioned ‘Youth Justice’ and posted, “As soon as the Congress government is formed in 2024, a new employment revolution will begin by giving recruitment assurance to the youth of the country. Today the Congress Party is making a big announcement for crores of youth of this country, which has 5 main points.”

The first point included ‘Bharti Bharosa’ or recruitment trust by the Congress party wherein the party guaranteed recruitment to the youth and asserted that all the 30 lakh vacancies in the Central Government would be filled.

“This guarantee of Congress is for the youth of the country, in which first of all we guarantee recruitment confidence to all the youth. In which all the vacancies of around 30 lakhs in the Central Government will be filled. A timeline will be decided from paper submission to recruitment,” read the post.

The second point said that the first job of the youth would be confirmed and that the grand old party would provide apprenticeship training to every Diploma or Degree holder youth below 25 years of age in the government or private sector.

The post read, “Even after having a degree, every second youth of the country is unemployed because they do not have proper apprenticeship training. Congress Party guarantees that by bringing a new right to apprenticeship law, we will provide apprenticeship training to every Diploma or Degree holder youth below 25 years of age in the government or private sector. All apprentices will be given an assistance of Rs 1 lakh i.e. Rs 8,500 per month in a year.”

The post also mentioned freedom from paper leaks and said that the party would put an end to the paper leaks by bringing a new law.

“Today the situation in the country is such that recruitment does not come out for years, even if recruitment comes out, there is no paper. If there is paper, then paper gets leaked. Just imagine, children from villages and small towns coming to cities to study. Their parents spend their entire life to get them a government job. Therefore, the Congress Party guarantees that we will stop Paper Leak by bringing a new law,” it said.

“Will ensure that all examinations are conducted in a fair manner. Their years of hard work should not go in vain. So that the future of crores of youth gets better every year. Their papers should be on time, recruitment should be done properly and they and their families should develop,” added the post.

The fourth point said that Congress would offer social security in the gig economy for the welfare of the people.

“Rahul Gandhi met lakhs of people during Bharat Jodo Yatra and Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra. He met many people including truck drivers, mechanics, carpenters, delivery people, and taxi drivers. Rahul ji shared their sorrows and pains listened to their problems and came to know the difficult environmental conditions in which they are working in cities miles away from their villages. He heard and understood all the problems they face, how low their salaries are, all these things,” the post said.

“After this, the Rajasthan government of Congress brought a social security law for the welfare of all these people. On the same lines, the Congress Party guarantees that we will bring a new law for social security and working conditions in the Gig Economy for crores of youth who are supporting themselves and their families by doing informal jobs,” it said.

The fifth point stated financial assistance under ‘Yuva Roshni’ and stated that a fund would be created with an amount of Rs 5 thousand crore which will be distributed in all the districts of the country. (ANI)

Kharge’s Son-In-Law Likely To Contest From Gulbarga

With his term extending for another four years, Kharge is reportedly disinclined to contest from Kalaburagi….reports Asian Lite News

Radhakrishna Doddamani, the son-in-law of Mallikarjun Kharge, is emerging as the primary contender for the Congress ticket in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, particularly in the party President’s stronghold.

Despite Mallikarjun Kharge’s previous successful bids in the Gulbarga (Kalaburagi) Lok Sabha constituency, his focus now revolves around his national party duties and obligations as the Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha.

With his term extending for another four years, Kharge is reportedly disinclined to contest from Kalaburagi.

Similarly, his son, Priyank Kharge, who serves as a Minister in the Siddaramaiah cabinet and represents the Chittapur assembly constituency in the Gulbarga segment, has also shown no interest in entering the electoral fray.

This leaves Doddamani, a businessman with interests in education, at the forefront of candidacy discussions within the party.

The final decision regarding contesting the polls rests with the Congress President, who will consult with senior leaders like Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi before reaching a conclusion.

Kharge announces income support scheme for AP

Kharge attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not fulfilling his guarantees and asked if the people of the country had received 15 lakhs in their bank accounts….reports Asian Lite News

Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday announced Indiramma Universal Basic Income Support of Rs 5,000 per month to every poor family, adding that it is the Congress party’s guarantee for the people of Andhra Pradesh.

“Indiramma Universal Basic Income support of Rs 5000 per month to every poor family is Congress party’s guarantee for the people of Andhra Pradesh. We will transfer the amount directly in the bank account of the woman of the families. Our guarantee is not like “Modi Ki Guarantee”, whatever Congress party promises, WE DELIVER !!” Kharge posted on X on Monday.

He further attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not fulfilling his guarantees and asked if the people of the country had received 15 lakhs in their bank accounts.

“PM Modi always says, “Yeh to Modi ki guarantee hai.” Where is Modi’s guarantee? Have you received 15 lakhs in your bank accounts? Have the farmers’ incomes doubled? Has he provided 2 crore jobs?” he added.

Kharge further said that the grand old party always held poorer sections, small traders, farmers, and other workers.

“We are helping poorer sections, small traders, farmers, and other workers. Who is Modi helping? He is helping crony capitalists and rich people; this is PM Modi’s ideology,” he added.

Continuing his attack on Modi, Kharge questioned why the Prime Minister always attacks the Congress party.

“PM Modi always attacks the Congress party. If the Congress party is weak in the country, why are you attacking, abusing, and purchasing our MLAs and MPs? Why are you putting our people behind bars? The zero man is ruling the country. He is like a dictator, and it’s our duty to be united and defeat the fascist forces. Only then will our democracy, constitution, people, and fundamental rights be saved. He always attacks Rahul Gandhi ji and consistently criticises Indira Gandhi ji. Why? Because he is afraid of Rahul Gandhi ji, Sonia Gandhi ji, and Congress,” he added.

The Lok Sabha elections are expected to be held across country between April and May this year. (ANI)

Questions can wait, rescue & relief immediate task, says Kharge

The Congress president says party has many questions to ask the Prime Minister and the Railway Minister but those can wait since the immediate task is of rescue and relief, reports Asian Lite News

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday mourned the death of several passengers in Odisha’s Balasore train accident and said that questions with the government can wait till Sunday as rescue and relief is an immediate task.

Party leader Sonia Gandhi also mourned the death of the passengers in Balasore.

“I am most pained and anguished by the terrible train disaster in Odisha. I extend my deepest sympathy and condolences to all the bereaved families,” Sonia Gandhi, who is the Chairperson of Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP), said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Kharge also mourned the death of the passengers in the train accident and said the party has many questions to ask the Prime Minister and the Railway Minister but those can wait since the immediate task is of rescue and relief.

In a statement, Kharge said, “At this moment of grave national tragedy on account of the terrible train disaster in Odisha, I have instructed the entire Congress party organisation to extend all possible and needed help.”

Kharge said that a number of Congress leaders from different states have either already reached or will soon be reaching Balasore.

“I once again extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. We have many questions to ask of the Prime Minister and the Railway Minister but those can wait since the immediate task is of rescue and relief,” the Congress chief said.

Echoing the views of Kharge, Congress General Secretary Communications in-charge Jairam Ramesh said, “The rail crash in Odisha is truly horrendous. It is a matter of the greatest anguish. It reinforces why safety should always be the foremost priority in the functioning of the rail network. There are many legitimate questions that need to be raised but that should wait till tomorrow.”

The remarks of the Congress leaders came after 261 people died in a train accident near Bahanaga Bazar railway station in Odisha on Friday evening. Over 900 people have also been injured and are admitted in several hospitals.

Meanwhile, Congress General Secretary (Organisation) K.C. Venugopal said that party chief Mallikarjun Kharge has deputed Lok Sabha Leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and AICC In-Charge A. Chella Kumar to immediately visit the crash site in Odisha to take stock of the situation and oversee relief efforts being undertaken by Congress workers and frontal organisations.

Earlier in the day, Gurdeep Singh Sappal, AICC Incharge-Admin & Coordinator Office of Congress President tweeted, “Resignation in such cases are expected not just on moral grounds. Resignation is also a means to ensure that those in power and accountability for the accident do not influence such ‘high level inquiry’. That’s why the norm is that the officers in the chain of command are suspended and the minister resigns!”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday held a high level meeting with the officials and several ministers of his government over the train accident. He also left for Odisha to visit the accident site.

The rescue operation has been completed at the derailment site and restoration work has started.

Tharoor wants to bring ‘change’ in the Grand Old Party

“If you’re satisfied with the party’s working, vote for Kharge sahab. If you want a change, I’m there,” says Shashi Tharoor

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Saturday drew an analogy between the Gandhi family and the DNA of the party and said that no party chief can distance himself from the Gandhi family, asserting that he is contesting the party’s presidential elections to bring a ” change” in the grand old party.

He called the family an asset to the party and said that no matter who becomes the Congress president after the party’s internal polls on October 17, he cannot be “such a fool” to tell “goodbye” to the Gandhi family.

Speaking to ANI before embarking on his visit to various parts of the country to campaign for the party polls, Tharoor said, “Gandhi family and Congress’ DNA is the same…No (party) president is such a fool to tell “Goodbye” to Gandhi family. They are a huge asset to us”.

Reiterating that he represents a “change” in the party twice within 24 hours of filing his nomination at the AICC office in the national capital on Friday, the Congress leader said that if the party leaders and workers are “satisfied” with the “working of the party”, they should vote for Mallikarjun Kharge, who is his opponent in the race to the top post in the party.

Tharoor stressed that the contest between him and Kharge is “not a battle” and it should be left upon the Congress workers to choose between the duo.

“This isn’t a battle…Let party workers choose, that’s our message. I’m saying that if you’re satisfied with the party’s working, vote for Kharge sahab. If you want a change, I’m there. But there’s no ideological problem. There will not be any change in the message of the Congress party,” he said.

Noting that all the decisions are being taken by the Central leadership in the party, Tharoor emphasised on giving rights to the lower levels of the organisation to take decisions.

“All the decisions are being taken in New Delhi these days/ It would be good for the party if the rights to take decisions are given to the grassroots at the levels of the blocks, Zilla and states,” he said.

Notably, in the manifesto released by Tharoor soon after filing his nomination, he mentioned the need for “decentralization” in the party.

Talking about his decision to run for the party’s top post, he said that he intended to contest when the election was announced, which was backed by the party workers.

“The internal democracy that we are showing is not present in any other party. When the election was announced, I had the intention (to contest). I wrote an article, stating that the election is good for party&mentioned its reasons,” he said.

“After that several people, ordinary workers told me to contest the poll. I started thinking and talking to people…I just want the party to strengthen and that I become a voice of the changes within the party and show its different face to people,” Tharoor added.

Tharoor and Kharge are up against each other in the race for the post of Congress president.

Digvijaya Singh pulled out from the race yesterday and extended his support to Kharge, who he said is a senior and respected leader of the party, and against whom he “cannot think of contesting”.

Singh is the second Congress leader to pull out of the race after Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced he would not contest the elections following the political turmoil in his state.

With the Gandhis not running for the top post, the grand old party is all set to get a non-Gandhi president after over 25 years.

The results of the party polls will be declared on October 19. (ANI)

Rajasthan casts dark shadow as Kharge looks set to be Congress chief

With senior leaders siding with Kharge and the Congress G-23 group too endorsing his candidature, it leaves fellow member Tharoor to fend for himself, reports Saiyed Moziz Imam Zaidi

The Congress will witness a contest for the party president’s post between Mallikarjun Kharge and Shashi Tharoor, both having filed their nominations on Friday. However, with senior leaders siding with Kharge and the Congress G-23 group too endorsing his candidature, it leaves fellow member Tharoor to fend for himself.

The G-23 leaders are the main proposers of Mallikarjun Kharge along with Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot for the Congress presidential poll. Digvijaya Singh who also collected the nomination papers for himself ended up becoming a proposer for Kharge. He is tipped to become the Leader of Opposition in the Upper House when Kharge vacates the position after being elected Congress president.

In the set of nominations, the names of the proposers include Anand Sharma, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Prithviraj Chavan, Akhilesh Prasad Singh, Mukul Wasnik and Manish Tewari, who were in the G-23. Others who signed the nomination papers include Ashok Gehlot, who opted out of the race on Thursday after meeting Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi.

Almost all the G-23 leaders were present at the Congress headquarters at the time of Kharge’s filing of nomination, signalling an end to the stalemate since 2020 when the group wrote a letter demanding elections in the party. The group, however, has not come out in support of Shashi Tharoor who was part of it.

Gehlot, who was initially the frontrunner, opted out after Sunday’s fiasco in Jaipur where MLAs loyal to him boycotted the CLP. Gehlot’s supporters demanded that the issue of Chief Minister should be decided after October 19 but Congress state in-charge Ajay Maken wanted a one line resolution.

Ashok Gehlot opted out and said, “In this circumstances I don’t want to contest and the issue of chief ministership will be decided by the party high command. Whether I remain the CM will be decided by Madam (Sonia Gandhi)… I am a loyal soldier of the Congress from Indiraji’s time. I have expressed regret and sadness over whatever happened in Jaipur.”

Earlier, while entering Sonia Gandhi’s residence at 10 Janpath, Gehlot was seen carrying a set of papers. On one of the papers, it was written “Whatever has happened is sad and I am also hurt.”

“I have always acted as a loyal soldier of the party. The incident that happened on the day of the legislature party meeting has left everyone shaken. It gave a message as if I wanted to continue as the Chief Minister, so I apologised to her,” Gehlot said after the meeting.

In Rajasthan, amid the full blown controversy, the Congress has had to issue gag orders against making public statements. The Congress on Tuesday served show-cause notices to Rajasthan Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shanti Dhariwal, party chief whip Mahesh Joshi and RTDC chairman Dharmendra Rathore for holding a parallel meeting of party legislators in Jaipur.

The notice issued to Dhariwal said that he, being the Parliamentary Affairs Minister, has committed “grave indiscipline” by hosting a parallel MLAs meeting at his residence and thus “pressuring MLAs not to attend the official meeting”.

“As Parliamentary Affairs Minister, hosting the unofficial meeting confused the Congress MLAs as to which one was convened officially,” the notice reads.

The notice that has sought a response within 10 days also noted that Dhariwal’s action (parallel meeting) came even when senior party leader Mallikarjun Kharge and Rajasthan in-charge Ajay Maken repeatedly clarified that they have come to speak to each MLA “individually and impartially” and report to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.

Similarly, the notice addressed to Joshi stated that he, as Chief Whip, has conducted “grave indiscipline” by boycotting the official CLP (Congress Legislature Party) meeting and by participating in and convening a parallel meeting of the MLAs at the time when the officially appointed observers were waiting for the official meeting to start.

“As Chief Whip your presence at the unofficial and illegal meeting confused the MLAs as to which one was convened officially,” added the notice.

In the show-cause notice to Rathore, he was accused of making all the logistical arrangements and was held responsible for being behind the entire planning of the unofficial meeting of the MLAs.

Maken has recommended disciplinary action against Dhariwal, Joshi and Rathore whom he blamed for holding the parallel meet.

Maken, in his report to the party president, has reported “grave indiscipline” on their part. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, sources said, has been exonerated in the report submitted to Sonia Gandhi.

The official meeting of the Congress Legislature Party was to be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday at the Chief Minister’s residence in Jaipur, but before that Gehlot’s loyalists gathered at Dhariwal’s residence. From there, they went to Speaker C.P. Joshi’s residence and collectively submitted their resignations to him.

The other contender for the Chief Minister’s post, Sachin Pilot on Thursday met Sonia Gandhi and said that everyone has to work together for the party to come back to power in 2023.
