White House Prioritises H1B Visa and Green Card Backlog

USCIS is gearing up for the FY 2025 H1B cap registration process, which will require valid passport or travel document information for each beneficiary….reports Asian Lite News

The White House has reiterated President Joe Biden’s commitment to improving the H1B visa process, addressing the ‘green card’ backlog, and other issues within the legal immigration system in the United States. Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre emphasised the administration’s actions during a daily news conference, highlighting efforts to streamline the H1B visa process and reduce the backlog for lawful permanent residents eligible for citizenship.

Responding to concerns raised by some Indian Americans regarding the prioritisation of efforts for illegal immigrants over legal immigrants, Jean-Pierre underscored recent measures aimed at strengthening the integrity of the immigration system. These include the publication of a final rule by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to enhance fairness and equity in the H1B visa program.

The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has introduced myUSCIS organizational accounts to facilitate collaboration among multiple individuals within an organization and their legal representatives for H1B registrations and petitions. With the launch of organizational accounts, USCIS is gearing up for the FY 2025 H1B cap registration process, which will require valid passport or travel document information for each beneficiary.

In addition to addressing technical issues and streamlining the registration process, USCIS has announced the launch of online filing for non-cap H1B petitions in March, followed by the acceptance of online filings for H1B cap petitions starting April 1. To assist stakeholders in navigating these changes, USCIS initiated Tech Talks sessions in February 2024, providing an opportunity for individuals to seek clarification and guidance on organizational accounts and online filing procedures.

USCIS encourages all parties involved in the H1B registration and petition filing process to participate in these informational sessions, underscoring the importance of understanding the new requirements and procedures. The agency aims to ensure a smoother and more efficient process for both employers and foreign workers seeking employment in specialty occupations that require specialized skills and expertise.

President Biden’s administration remains committed to addressing the concerns of legal immigrants while also tackling broader immigration issues, as evidenced by ongoing efforts to improve the visa process and streamline administrative procedures within the bounds of existing authority.

As winter blankets the Northern Hemisphere, a celestial dance unfolds across the night sky – the enchanting display of the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights. Under the Arctic night sky, witness the ethereal glow of the Aurora Borealis, creating memories that last a lifetime.

Here are a few tips to enhance your Northern Lights adventure:

Where and When to See the Northern Lights: The Northern Lights, most commonly observed between latitudes 60 and 75 degrees, offer breathtaking displays in regions such as Finnish Lapland, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Russia, Canada, Alaska, and southern Greenland. Finnair destinations in Finnish Lapland, including Ivalo, Kittilä, and  Rovaniemi, provide excellent vantage points. Additionally, Tromsø in Norway and Reykjavik in Iceland offer prime viewing opportunities.

Best Time of Year for Viewing: Midnight from late August to April is typically the optimal time for spotting the Northern Lights, with September often offering clearer skies and higher visibility in Lapland.

Predicting the Aurora: While the Northern Lights can be somewhat predicted, their appearance remains elusive. Short-term forecasts are available through resources like the Finnish Meteorological Institute’s Space Weather Center ISES, offering insights into current conditions and probabilities.

Experiencing the Magic: While on the ground, travellers can participate in Northern Lights tours, enjoy frozen lake expeditions, or opt for special accommodations designed for optimal viewing, ensuring an unforgettable experience.

Bonus Tip: If you don’t manage to see any northern lights on the ground during your trip or from your airplane window, you might still be able to spot them on your long-haul flights.

For those embarking on a quest to witness the Aurora Borealis, Finnair offers direct flights from New Delhi to Helsinki, making the quest to witness this timeless wonder convenient and unforgettable.

Discover the Timeless Charm of Bali

Bali’s rich history shapes its vibrant cultural scene today, with numerous temples dotting the island’s landscape…reports Asian Lite News

Nestled in the Indonesian archipelago, Bali has truly earned its nickname “Island of the Gods.” This captivating destination offers something for everyone – from serene beaches kissed by turquoise waters to majestic temples steeped in history. No wonder for years, travellers have sought its shores to restore and revitalise their spirits.

So what sets Bali apart from the other sought-after spots in the world? CRED Escapes invites guests to take a trip down these bustling, narrow streets to find out.

Tracing the history

The history of the Balinese people reflects a series of migrations. Thousands of years ago, people from nearby islands like Java and Kalimantan sailed over to Bali and made it their home. In the 15th and 16th centuries, as Islam gained prominence in Java, many Hindus, including both nobles and commoners, sought refuge in Bali. This mix of people and beliefs over time shaped Bali’s unique culture, visibly evident in Bali’s architecture, traditions, and even daily life.

The Present Landscape

Bali’s rich history shapes its vibrant cultural scene today, with numerous temples dotting the island’s landscape. From grand landmarks to intimate household shrines, these temples symbolize resilience and community spirit. Balinese culture is renowned for its warm hospitality, providing a refreshing contrast to the hustle and bustle of contemporary living.

Before ending a trip to Bali, don’t miss out the chance to witness the centuries-old traditions at Tirta Empul’s water cleansing ritual, join a family-hosted cooking class and learn the art of creating authentic Balinese dishes. Savour the flavours of these vibrant markets and check out the ancient art of Batik, a renowned dyeing technique. Participate in a hands-on workshop, learn from local artisans, and you can even create your personalised souvenir.

The official said that India is a key market for AirAsia as it contributes about 18 per cent of the total revenue.

The 13th largest airline in the world, AirAsia currently flies directly to Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok from 14 Indian cities.

“We are now looking beyond the metro cities in India. We have the bilateral rights for Patna and Calicut. We want to connect Madurai, Coimbatore and other Indian cities as well,” said Kesavan Sivanandam, Chief Airport & Customer Experience Officer, AirAsia, told the media here on Tuesday.

According to Sivanandam, the airline fleet strength is 225 aircraft, out of which 200 are flying now post the Covid pandemic.

According to Razaidi Abd. Rahim, Overseas Director (Chennai) of Tourism Malaysia, till November last year, about 5,87,000 Indians had travelled to Malaysia.

He said the average age of the fleet is 12 years and the airline has placed orders for 650 new planes and the deliveries are set to begin by the end of this year.
