Kajol Devgn

“And you sir, you’re very attractive. Therefore, I will stare at you!” – Anonymous & Me @ajaydevgn #22years #stillgoing #grateful #laughingalways,” Kajol posted on Twitter along with a throwback picture of the two, gazing into each other’s eyes.

Ajay posted a picture of a wine bottle with a picture of the two and the words “Battled in 1999 Only edition” written on it.

The couple have two kids, daughter Nysa (17) and son Yug (10) .

Kajol was recently seen in the film Tribhanga: Tedhi Medhi Crazy, directed by actress Renuka Shahane. The film, which also features Tanvi Azmi and Mithila Palkar, released digitally.

Ajay’s upcoming film is MayDay, which he also directs and produces. The film co-stars Amitabh Bachchan and Rakulpreet Singh.

Kajol: “We are not perfect mothers.”

Bollywood star Kajol does not pay heed to her imperfections. She does not put them up for appraisal because she is aware of the effort she has made to reach where she is today.

“I don’t know how I celebrate them, but I don’t want to put them up for critical appraisal, either. I don’t put them up, and I don’t sit down and pay too much attention to it. Because honestly, it has taken me a long time to reach here,” Kajol told.

The actress went on to open up about motherhood, saying: “We are not perfect mothers.”

Kajol

“Mothers are put into a small little box, like a parameter that you can never get out of. You can’t put one step out of it. They are superhuman, they make breakfast, they make dinner, they clean the house, they put send you to school, and they go for work, and they come back and meet your teacher and organise their life and your life and their husband’s lives, and still manage to be calm and cool and patient and loving,” she said.

The actress continued: “Nobody can be like that. Let’s be honest about it. Let’s be honest, nobody can be like this. I definitely can’t, and I definitely didn’t even attempt it.”

Shraddha finds weapon to bash patriarchy

There is no doubt that releasing a film in Hindi language gives a broader reach to the audience…Shraddha speaks with Arundhuti Banerjee.

South Indian actress Shraddha Srinath says laughter is the best way to deal with the hard reality of patriarchy. This was reflected in a social media comment she made shortly after actor Varun Dhawan’s marriage.

Shraddha Srinath and Vishal

Shraddha had written on Instagram, on January 24: “Another good actor bites the dust. Sad that we will not see him on screen again. Obviously, his wife and in-laws will not be okay with him acting with other heroines. Maybe he will switch to doing male-oriented films? But how to balance personal life and work-life ya. Tough. Will miss him. Congratulations though, Varun (sic).”

Varun

Asked about what was she thinking while making such a post after Varun’s marriage, Shraddha told: “You know when I started my career, one of my well-wishers told me that you are a girl and you only have three to four years to shine as an actress because the career span of any actress is short-lived. Whenever I would go for an audition, I was asked, ‘Shraddha Srinath, Srinath who?’ and I would answer that it is my father’s name.

Why do we women have to face that? Why we are told that the career of an actress ends after marriage and motherhood? Why is it not the same with men? I see how I am growing as an actress and I see no end in my growth because I am working hard to make sure I grow.”

“I think my sense of humour is my weapon to bash patriarchy. I have nothing against anyone, I just wish we really broaden and open our mind, it makes society a better place,” she added.

In her latest film “Chakra”, she plays an investigating officer. The film released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

“There is no doubt that releasing a film in Hindi language gives a broader reach to the audience. It also depends on film to film. My character ACP Gayathri is quite a powerful police office and the way she handles the case shows she is a very no-nonsense cop. It is a relatable story of any region. So, it made total sense to release it in the Hindi language,” she said.

The film is directed by MS Anandan and is toplined by Tamil star Vishal.

Is she planning to shift her work base from Tollywood to Bollywood? “Well, I am satisfied as an actress with the kind of opportunity I am getting in the South Indian film industry and Bollywood is a space where everyone wants to look for a chance. But I am not working here so that I can head to Bollywood. For me, any opportunity, from any film industry is welcome. All that matters is what am I doing in the film,” Shraddha signed off.

Who got the best body in Bollywood? Who defies the rules of ageing? There is one and only Malaika Arora. Walking is a risk-free form of exercise that helps you to maintain your overall health…Malaika Arora speaks with Puja Gupta. A special report from Asian Lite News, the best newspaper from London

Bollywood diva Malaika Arora advises her fans to follow a routine, eat right and work hard to bring balance between their body, mind and soul to the best of your abilities and become the ideal version of your own self.

Malaika, who launched Reebok’s new range of walking products to encourage people to live a fitter, better lifestyle, believes eating right is the best way to maintain your health.

Here are excerpts from her interview.

Q: What’s your fitness regime? How do you include walking in it?

I believe in having a routine which I choose to follow on a regular basis. I start my day with a good morning session of yoga and then I step outside to do a mix of other fitness activities as well like HIIT, walking, running, swimming and so on. Walking is a great way to improve and maintain your overall health and I make sure I do it for at least 30 minutes a day.

Q: Which is your favourite exercise? How much time do you dedicate to exercise in a day?

My favourite exercise is doing yoga as I always begin my day with it. I usually dedicate 60 minute in a day for exercising.

Q: Please share some benefits that you have personally seen when you included walking in your regimen.

Walking is a risk-free form of exercise that helps you to maintain your overall health. When I feel I have put on a little weight, I feel walking is an effective way to reduce that weight and I have also seen a lot of toning in my legs and overall body while I indulge in walking as a regular fitness exercise.

Malaika

Q: While travelling, how do you take care of your fitness regime?

I always make sure I dedicate some time to my fitness routine even when I’m travelling as exercising gives me inner peace and keeps my outlook positive.

PICS: Malaika Ready For A Fit Start

Q: How important do you think it is to focus on diet while trying to achieve a fit body and mind?

For achieving a fit body and mind, I believe eating right is the best way to maintain your health. The balance should be 30 per cent exercise to 70 per cent diet in order to achieve the body you wish for. If one wishes to follow a particular and strict diet, then they should always consult a doctor or a trainer and set up a diet best suited for their body.

Q: Are you strict about your diet?

I keep making changes in my diet to see what really suits my body and provides the maximum benefits. Everyone’s body is different and reacts differently to the intake of food.

Q: What does your daily diet look like?

I don’t believe in dieting as I eat what my body demands and what my mind desires, of course in moderation. I don’t follow a particular diet and I eat what I like- be it Avocados or Biryani.

Q: Any fitness advice to readers?

Each individual has their own fitness goals which they want to achieve. My only advice to my readers is to follow a routine, eat right and work hard to bring balance between your body, mind and soul to the best of your abilities and become the ideal version of your own self.

“I realised it (the need to reinvent) long back, because in the initial days I used to do only action films. I was known as an action hero. In fact, when I used to get up every morning, I would know I had to go on the set and do action. I used to get bored and used to think ‘what am I doing by just doing action’,” Akshay said.

‘Lockdown, a crucial phase of self-realisation’

Is it a blessing in disguise? In a way, during lockdown, I have understood and redefined the value of ‘shunya’…Shraddha interacts with Arundhuti Banerjee of Asian Lite News, the best international newspaper from London for Indians.

Bollywood actress Shraddha Kapoor describes the lockdown phase of last year as one of her crucial phases for self-realisation. It was a period when she could learn to unlearn and redefine the value of zero, the spiritual meaning of shunya, she says.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxAG_11PzCk

“I think every time we start a film, we start from zero, from ‘shunya’. Lockdown was a time for me to understand the value of several things, including self-love, the family and my emotional and spiritual health. I also think that it made me more independent, and things like the power of yoga to develop a focused mind so that I can choose to be a part of any project — film or entrepreneurial venture — more fearlessly,” Shraddha told.

“As an actress, being a part of show business, we have to look in a certain way and that changes also with every film that we do, every character I play. Recently I invested in a beverage project in which I really do not have to count my calories while having my favourite drinks. In a way, during lockdown, I have understood and redefined the value of ‘shunya’, and now I know the brand of product or even brand of cinema I would like to associate myself with. It is a learning that has happened through last year,” she added.

Shraddha Kapoor and Tiger Shroff

Shraddha has been around in Bollywood for around a decade, and she has faced success, failure, praise and criticism. Her debut film “Teen Patti” fared below expectation, her third film “Aashiqui 2” was a musical superhit, followed by “Ek Villain”. She has tried dance and action in various films including “ABCD 2”, “Baaghi”, “Street Dancer 3D”, and “Saaho”.
What has her decade in Bollywood taught her? “Firstly, whenever I get a new film, I recive it with a lot of gratitude because a producer is investing money to make the film and making me part of that journey.

Shraddha

As an actress I always put my 100 per cent, but result is certainly not in our hand. It is in the hands of the audience. Interestingly, the result plays a part on my next opportunity, because it is the nature of the business of cinema. I have learnt to look at things from a broader perspective,” she summed up.

The actress finished a portion of the shoot for director Luv Ranjan’s untitled film co-starring Ranbir Kapoor in Delhi last month and is gearing up for her next schadule.

‘The Wife’ ready for OTT release

Another scary movie? Young star Gurmeet Chaudhary’s ‘The Wife’ is ready for OTT release in March second week. His first solo horror thriller will be co-starred by actress Sayani Datta.

“This is my first solo lead and you’ll get to see me in a whole new and different avatar. The script is so fresh, you’ll find the movie to be a perfect amalgamation of spine-chilling horror, action, romance, drama,” claimed Gurmeet.

Gurmeet

The story of the film revolves around a married couple who, soon after moving into their new apartment, find suspect the presence of a malevolent spirit. As their relationship crumbles, they realise they must stick together to not only save their marriage but also their lives.
The film’s debutant director Sarmad Khan claimed: “What makes The Wife unique is its urban setting and its matter-of-fact approach in presenting supernatural events.”

A similar concept, incidentally, has already been tapped way back in 2003 by Ram Gopal Varma in his hit film Bhoot, starring Ajay Devgn and Urmila Matondkar.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGqESxNi5Ew

Director Khan added: “Most horror stories tragically are quite predictable, especially for those who love this genre and can end up mostly guessing what’s going to happen next. Yet, with this film, you can’t know anything for sure till you’ve arrived at the end of it.”

Sayani added: “I am a huge fan of the horror genre and to be able to make my debut in one is the most exciting feeling ever. The entire experience of being a part of such a wonderful film has been a very fulfilling one indeed.”

The Wife releases on Zee5.
