Clinton, Prince Andrew Named in Epstein Lawsuit Documents

Prince Andrew has however, denied the allegations and maintained that he had never met Giuffre…reports Asian Lite News

Former US President Bill Clinton and the UK’s Prince Andrew have been named in court documents detailing people who were connected to the late disgraced American financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, according to media reports.

More than 900 pages of unsealed documents from a lawsuit connected to Epstein, who died in jail in 2019 as he awaited federal sex-trafficking charges, were publicly released on Wednesday following an order by New York federal judge Loretta Preska.

This is the first set of files to be unsealed under a December 18, 2023 court order, with more expected in the coming weeks, reports CNN.

According to CNN, nearly 200 names are expected to surface, including some of Epstein’s accusers, prominent businesspeople, as well as politicians.

While ordering the release of the documents, Judge Preska said many of those named in the lawsuit had already been identified by the media or in the criminal trial of Epstein’s long-time associate Ghislaine Maxwell, who is currently serving a 20-year jail term for crimes she committed with the late financier, the BBC reported.

She added that many others did not raise an objection to the release of the documents.

The files include references to Johanna Sjoberg, who has claimed that Prince Andrew groped her while sitting on a couch inside Epstein’s Manhattan apartment in 2001.

The documents also contain excerpts of depositions taken of Maxwell and Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who was paid in millions by Prince Andrew to settle a lawsuit she had filed alleging that he sexually abused her when she was 17 years old.

Prince Andrew has however, denied the allegations and maintained that he had never met Giuffre.

Meanwhile, former President Clinton, who is also named in the documents, had travelled on Epstein’s plane on humanitarian trips to Africa, but he later cut ties with him.

The files include testimony from Maxwell confirming that Clinton had travelled on board Epstein’s private jet, but she did not know how many times.

According to the documents, when asked if Clinton was a friend of Epstein’s, Sjoberg had testified that she understood that the late sex offender had “dealings” with the former President.

She further said that Epstein had “told her one time that Clinton likes them young, referring to girls”.

Clinton’s representatives however, said that he “knows nothing” about Epstein’s crimes.

The documents also includes testimony from Sjoberg saying that Epstein told her he would contact former US President Donald Trump on their way to one of his New Jersey casinos, the BBC reported.

“Jeffrey said, ‘Great, we’ll call up Trump,'” she testified, after pilots said their plane could not land in New York and would need to stop in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

But the documents contained no alleged wrongdoing by Trump.

Epstein was indicted in 2019 on federal charges of operating a sex trafficking ring in which he allegedly sexually abused dozens of underage girls.

His death was ruled to be a suicide by the New York medical examiner.

Prince Andrew accuser name witnesses in sex assault lawsuit

In a separate filing, Giuffre’s lawyers told judge Kaplan that they wanted to question two witnesses based in Britain, including Shukri Walker…reports Asian Lite News

Prince Andrew will challenge his sexual assault accuser’s memory while her lawyers want to question a woman who purportedly saw him in a nightclub with a “young girl,” US court documents show.

Lawyers for Andrew and Virginia Giuffre, who has sued the British royal over alleged sexual abuse more than two decades ago, have named the first witnesses they hope to grill in the civil lawsuit.

Andrew’s attorneys said in a filing with a New York court late Friday that they were seeking testimony from Judith Lightfoot, Giuffre’s psychologist in her adopted home of Australia.

Lawyer Melissa Lerner said that the prince’s legal team want to quiz Lightfoot about what was discussed during her counseling sessions with Giuffre, who says she was trafficked to Andrew for sex in 2001.

Andrew’s team are seeking Lightfoot’s notes from the sessions and medical records, Lerner wrote in a formal “letter of request” submitted to US judge Lewis Kaplan that would compel testimony in Australia.

The prince’s lawyers argue that Giuffre “may suffer from false memories” and want to ask Lightfoot about the “theory of false memories,” the letter said.

They added that they also wished to question Robert Giuffre, who married the then Virginia Roberts in and around 2002. The couple live in Australia with their three children.

Lerner wrote that Giuffre’s husband would likely have information about her “alleged emotional and psychological harm and damages.” She said they also intended to ask him about Giuffre’s finances.

In a separate filing, Giuffre’s lawyers told judge Kaplan that they wanted to question two witnesses based in Britain, including Shukri Walker.

“(Walker) claims to have seen Prince Andrew at Tramp Nightclub in London with a young girl around the time that plaintiff contends Prince Andrew abused her in London after visiting Tramp Nightclub,” the wrote attorney Sigrid McCawley.

“Because Prince Andrew has denied ever meeting plaintiff or being at Tramp Nightclub during the relevant time period, Ms. Walker’s testimony is highly relevant,” she added.

Giuffre alleges that Andrew sexually assaulted her at the London home of Ghislaine Maxwell in March 2001 when she was 17 and a minor under US law.

She said the incident occurred after a night dancing at Tramp nightclub.

The prince has denied being at Tramp Nightclub with Giuffre, and has said he has no recollection of ever meeting her.

Giuffre, now 38, sued Andrew last year for unspecified damages, alleging that she was trafficked to him by Maxwell — who was convicted of sex trafficking last month — and the late disgraced money manager, Jeffrey Epstein.

As well as the London allegations, Giuffre also says Andrew assaulted her at Epstein’s home in New York, and on Epstein’s private island in the US Virgin Islands.

Andrew has repeatedly and strenuously denied the allegations and he has not been criminally charged.

Giuffre’s lawyers also want to interview Robert Olney, the prince’s former assistant, who they say “has relevant information” about Andrew’s relationship with Epstein.

Andrew was on Thursday stripped of his honorary military titles and charitable roles after judge Kaplan earlier in the week denied his plea to dismiss Giuffre’s case.

Assange, his fiancée files lawsuit against Raab

The couple claims that the obstacles placed by the UK authorities in this matter are part of a political war against Assange, according to the Daily Mail…reports Asian Lite News.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and his fiancee Stella Moris filed a lawsuit against UK Justice Secretary Dominic Raab and the head of Belmarsh prison, where the whistleblower is currently held, for preventing their marriage, British media reported.

The couple claims that the obstacles placed by the UK authorities in this matter are part of a political war against Assange, according to the Daily Mail.

“There is no reason for political interference in what is a basic human right. The CIA revelations show the lengths some agencies are willing to go to in their persecution of Julian,” Moris was quoted as saying by the daily.

Assange and Moris have been engaged for five years and have two children together. They have asked for assistance in arranging the marriage in May, when the whistleblower was already in jail awaiting extradition appeal trial, the newspaper said. However, the process stalled and Assange applied for official permission directly with the Belmarsh chief on October 7, to no effect. The couple’s lawyers also reportedly failed to get a response from the prison authorities.

The lawsuit accuses Raab and Belmarsh Governor Jenny Louis of abusing their power over Assange, behaving irrationally and unfairly, and denying the couple and their children their human rights, the Daily Mail said.

The accused have until November 12 to respond.

Assange was arrested in London on April 11, 2019, and sentenced to 50 weeks in prison for jumping bail in 2012. He took refuge inside the Ecuadorean embassy in the UK capital to avoid extradition to Sweden, where he was facing sexual assault charges that were later dropped by a Swedish court.

Assange is wanted by the United States on espionage charges after WikiLeaks published thousands of classified documents that shed light on war crimes committed by American troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. If put on trial and convicted in the US, the whistleblower faces up to 175 years in prison.

In September, it was revealed that senior US officials and the CIA were allegedly discussing the possibility of kidnapping and killing Assange in 2017 while he was hiding in the Ecuadorian embassy in London.
