Ahead of the release of Chiranjeevi-starrer ‘Acharya’ which is set to hit the theatres on April 29, actor Ram Charan on Sunday spoke to media about the flick and expressed his delight that South Indian films are gaining popularity across the country.

Ram Charan, who is said to have played a significant role in the film, said: “At first, I became a part of ‘Acharya’ as a producer-only but later I joined the cast to play Siddha.”

“My character’s initial length is only 15 minutes. It was eventually extended to 45 minutes. Siddha’s character is one of the most unique roles I’ve ever played. You’ll enjoy my scenes, especially those with my father, Chiranjeevi “..

When asked about his role in ‘Acharya,’ Ram Charan explained that his character is named Siddha, and he is a person who is obligated to follow non-violence, but a conflict with the antagonist Sonu Sood forces him to take a different path.

On South Indian films gaining popularity across the country, Ram Charan expressed his delight and said: “It’s wonderful to see the popularity of South Indian films in the country. My father used to say that back then, people only talked about super actors in Bollywood. Our films, such as’ KGF 2′, ‘RRR’, and others, are now being discussed throughout the country. I’m also proud to have been a part of it.”

‘Acharya’ is directed by Koratala Siva.

Ram Charan will be next seen in a big-ticket movie, which is currently being directed by Shankar Shanmugham.

Rajamouli lauds Ram Charan

The film ‘Acharya’ will release on April 29, and the makers held a pre-release event in Hyderabad, amid high expectations.

Movie artists, technicians, guests, and other dignitaries were present at the gala event on Saturday, making it a hit show.

SS Rajamouli, who is still basking in the glory of ‘RRR’, attended the event as a special guest and conveyed his best wishes to the team.

Rajamouli, who praised megastar Chiranjeevi at the pre-release event, stated that he is one of the most humble people he has ever met.

On a lighter note, Rajamouli stated that Chiranjeevi isn’t as good as Ram Charan.

“Chiru sir, you look good, you dance well, you act well, and despite being a megastar, you don’t have the charisma of my ‘RRR’ hero Ram Charan,” Rajamouli said, as everyone laughed at the witty quote.

“I’ve seen Chiranjeevi at the time of ‘Magadheera’, and I realised that Chiranjeevi Garu never made any recommendations to Charan,” the ‘Magadheera’ director said.

“Charan is who he is today because of himself. He made mistakes, learned, and evolved into the person he is today, all because of his hard work,” Rajamouli said, praising Ram Charan’s efforts.

Speaking about his colleague Koratala Siva, the ‘RRR’ maker said: “Don’t be fooled by his gentle exterior; Koratala is a force to be reckoned with. Koratala Siva garu appears to be simple and calm. But he is a person who notices a lot of things, and is one of the most well-known mass directors.”

‘As actors we evolve with every year’

The actor recently spoke with us over the importance of star value for a film, the need for big-ticket releases, and the evolution of his working equation with filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli from ‘Magadheera’ to ‘RRR’….reports  Akshay Acharya

Telugu superstar and producer Ram Charan, whose upcoming release ‘RRR’ has been postponed till further notice, states that big releases play a vital role in regulating the economy of the film industry.

The big-budget films not only generate employment but also make sure that people working at the lower rung of the crew get paid well.

The actor recently spoke with us over the importance of star value for a film, the need for big-ticket releases, and the evolution of his working equation with filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli from ‘Magadheera’ to ‘RRR’.

Elaborating on the hardwiring of star value with a film, the actor said, “The aspect of star value is only to bring the masses to the theatres. Post that the story takes over and the story has the responsibility to talk and make the audience sit in the theatre.”

Laying down the framework of commercial potboilers vis a vis the film industry, the producer opines, “Every film has its own role to play the business part of the entire industry but these (big releases) are the films that bring glory back to the theatres. Not differentiating between the OTT films or theatre films but on the whole all these (spectacle) films have their own part to play. Their numbers and their economy are integral to not just the industry but also to the government in the form of taxes.”

Ask him how his working with Rajamouli has changed over the years, and he quips, “As actors we evolve with every year, there has been a sea change especially since the last decade. S.S. Rajamouli has evolved multifold and just to work with such a person, who knows what he exactly wants from us, is a pleasure.”

A filmmaker with clarity of thought at the helm is a blessing for any artiste working on a film set, “Our job gets so much easier when we are working with someone, who is so sure about what he’s making. He has evolved so much, I am really blessed to work with him.”

Although the third wave played spoilsport for the film’s release, he is hopeful that normalcy would soon return and the audience while relieving the stress would also appreciate the efforts into putting this film together, “What I am really looking forward to from this movie apart from it becoming a huge hit is that people appreciate the hard work of the entire team for making a film of this scale.”

“I think it’s been so long that I have been in a theatre enjoying popcorn. Films like ‘Suryavanshi’, ‘RRR’ and ‘Radhe Shyam’ are those that should bring back the theatre days to glory and provide a holistic experience of movie watching to people”, he concluded.
