Aishwarya Rai Bachchan dazzles at Cannes

The global icon bedazzled with sheer magnificence as she radiated in a spectacular black and silver hooded ensemble by Sophie Couture…reports Asian Lite News

L’Oreal Paris’ spokesperson Aishwarya Rai Bachchan looked stellar in a Sophie Couture Ensemble as she walked the red carpet on the third day of the 76th Cannes Film Festival for L’Oreal Paris sporting a bold red lipstick. The actress walks for the brand which celebrates 26 years as the official makeup partner of the film festival.

L’Oreal Paris Spokespeople from across the globe along with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, celebrated confidence in oneself to commemorate this year’s theme – ‘Walk Your Worth’. With this initiative, the brand aims to further strengthen its longstanding commitment to promoting self-worth and empowerment. The theme is a nod to the brand’s ethos, which encourages individuals to embrace their confidence and celebrate themselves.

She donned a makeup look created by beauty maestro Val Garland. Drawing inspiration from her celestial beauty, her look was brought to life using L’Oreal Paris Infallible 32H Freshwear Foundation in the shade 140 Golden Beige, infused with a long-lasting yet lightweight formula.

Her beautiful doe-shaped eyes were enhanced using the subtle smokey glitter eyeshadow. A dramatic winged eyeliner was created using the L’Oreal Paris Super Liner Gel Intenza that gives a smooth, smudge-proof wear lasting up to 36 hours, accentuating the innate grace of her eye shape.

The perfect finishing touch to the eye makeup was voluminous lashes with L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara, which gives voluptuous volume and intense length. Her perfect bold red pout was achieved using the L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Intense Volume Matte Lipstick in shade 666 – I Win, which provided her lips a highly ultra-matte finish and an intensely pigmented red hue.

‘Hoodie couture’ leaves the world devided

Making her 21st appearance on the Cannes red carpet on Thursday evening (local time), Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, after French photographers mistook Urvashi Rautela for her, left observers flummoxed with her choice of clothing.

The less respectful called it ‘hoodie couture’, some others said it appeared as if she had picked up a flowing sheet of aluminum foil from a kitchen in a hurry to act as a sort of canopy atop her flowing black gown; her fawning fans, however, insisted that she was looking very much like the “Queen of Cannes”.

In the past, according to media reports, she has shown up in a gold mermaid gown by Roberto Cavalli, accessorised with coral lips and immaculate hair, or as the personification of Cinderella, and last year, Renaissance painter Botticelli’s ageless masterpiece, The Birth of Venus, had clearly inspired her look.

Earlier in the morning, she wore a little more understandable dress — what looked like a shimmery green cape (reportedly by Valentino) paired with straight hair, light lipliner, and high heels. This look was for a L’Oreal event. Aishwarya has been representing the cosmetics giant for more than two decades.

Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan, who recently attended the prestigious Cannes Film Festival 2023, has said that as an Indian she feels proud to represent her country at such a global platform. She said that cinema and art have the power to transcend the boundaries.

The actress earlier exhibited two looks which received praises from the fashion police, however, it was her third look that won the Internet over. She donned a white Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla saree at the French festival. A few fans even compared the actor to her grandmother, veteran actor Sharmila Tagore, who is known for her regal looks in Indian outfits.

She said: “We should be proud and even more vocal of the culture that we have and that we should be able to bring to the rest of the world. I think cinema and art transcends language, regions and nationalities. I think we should come together and while we are here at a global stage representing our country, we should continue to not forget who we are so that we can remain organic in the content that we create because I think that’s exactly what resonates with the rest of the world.”

Thank you for having me and I hope that we continue to do more and make our nation more and more proud and international.”

The actress made heads turns at both the Cannes and the party the actress attended where she joined A-listers like Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Helen Mirren, Brie Larson, Uma Thurman, and Elle Fanning on the red carpet before the premiere of the Johnny Depp-starrer ‘Jeanne du Barry’ which opened the 2023 edition of Cannes.

On the work front, the actress is occupied with the promotions of her upcoming romantic comedy ‘Zara Hatke Zara Bach Ke’ in collaboration with Vicky Kaushal. Apart from that, she is involved in the films ‘Ae Watan Mere Watan’, an untitled project directed by Jagan Shakti, and Homi Adjania’s ‘Murder Mubarak’.

Bangs can look good on everyone, but if you want to make sure your fringe doesn’t turn out to be a disaster, you should keep your face shape in mind when asking for the chop…reports Asian Lite News

With the onset of the summer, give your beautiful locks a fun reset for the bright days ahead and your summer getaways. In case you are short on inspiration, here’s a round-up of the top hairstyles from renowned hairstylist Adhuna Bhabani in collaboration with Dyson that you can easily achieve.

Summer Hair Trends for 2023

Bangs and fringes all the way!

Bangs and fringes will be seen making a great resurgence in the summer of 2023. From Wednesday Addams inspired wispy bangs, to soft feathery bangs, baby bangs etc, bangs are versatile and one can choose basis their hair length and texture to compliment your face shape. To draw more attention to your strong facial features, suggest your stylist to keep the outer layer of the fringe longer and the middle part of the fringe shorter. Use the round volumising brush attachment of the Dyson Airwrap™ multi-styler to add the necessary oomph to your bangs.

Pro Tip: Bangs can look good on everyone, but if you want to make sure your fringe doesn’t turn out to be a disaster, you should keep your face shape in mind when asking for the chop.

Wavy Bob

The wavy bob was recently spotted in the Dyson x Aprita Mehta’s showcase during the Lakme Fashion Week 2023, and this will become a big trend during the summer season. It’s a shorter bob that is cut with shorter layers at the front and longer layers at the back, adding more life and volume to your hair. While a chin-length bob may seem like a big chop to some, this hairstyle can actually be an extremely flattering choice.

Beachy Waves

Loose beach waves are certainly among one of the most appealing and versatile hairstyles you can wear. This look is one of Adhuna’s favourites, these sophisticated waves can assist your transition from day to night. Beachy waves dressed up are also a super ideal wedding hairstyle to complete your easy and relaxed look.

Voluminous Blow Dry

The 90s blowout was already very popular, and 2023 is no different. While some may think it’s challenging to get this look at home, the Dyson AirwrapTM multi-styler allows you to create the ideal voluminous blow-dry. Your hair will look effortlessly gorgeous and full of shine.

Summer Hair Care Tips And Tricks

As our busy lifestyle often deprives us of a proper hair care regime, Adhuna also shared some insightful tips for helping us attain gorgeous tresses that turn heads this spring-summer.

Cold shower followed by drying for smoother and shinier hair: Blast your hair with a cold shower (after shampooing) as hot water not only damages our skin but also our hair and scalp. Cold shower will seal the cuticles and make hair shinier, stronger, and smoother. However, don’t keep your hair wet for long as hair is more fragile in this state.

Extreme heat is detrimental: Choosing the right temperature is of utmost importance while styling. The Dyson haircare range is equipped with intelligent heat control to maintain optimum temperatures and prevent extreme heat damage. Do not forget using a heat protectant before styling your hair.

Say yes to updos: Nobody likes their hair falling on their face during the summer. Hence it is ideal to opt for hairstyles like braids, messy updos and ponytails. These hairstyles are also great to camouflage an oily scalp.

Hair Massage + treatments = shiny hair: The action of the massage/ brushing stimulates the blood circulation which feeds the root of the hair and helps maintain healthier hair and scalp. Hair massage needs to be done at least two or three times a week. A good hair massage also helps the nutrients to efficiently reach the hair follicles. Hair treatments are also a great way to nourish your hair and improve its shine and condition. Apply a hair treatment at least once a week or as recommended by your stylist.

Volume, volume and some more volume: Who doesn’t like to add some volume to their hair, especially in the crown area? If you are tackling flat hair, then use the round volumizing brush to add volume to your hair.  It can also be used to seamlessly sweep bangs away from the face to provide volume and create the desired style. Another way of adding volume to your hair is by layering the crown area,

Prepare, Style and Fix: After spending hours styling your hair, sometimes your hairstyle or curls may loosen up. If this describes you, then you may be missing one of the most important steps, i.e., setting your hairstyle with a lightweight setting spray or cold shot. Our hair often sets in the same position as it cools down. Hence the correct procedure for styling your hair should be – style your hair using the Dyson AirwrapTM multi-styler, set your curls/hairstyle using cold shot, pin up your curls for 5-10 mins and finish off with a setting spray. You can go with styling products that fit your hair type, length and thickness.

Fashion for better future

Sustainable fashion is a powerful movement that aims to revolutionize the way we view and engage with clothing…reports Raghav Mittal

In the wake of climate change and environmental degradation, sustainability has become a key concept across various sectors worldwide. The notion of sustainability has now become a buzzword, with industries grappling to address their impact on the environment. One sector that is constantly receiving reminders from environmentalists is fashion and textile, which is often criticised for leaving behind mammoth waste and causing a harmful impact on the planet Earth.

Responding positively to contemporary issues, the idea of sustainability strongly shapes the current fashion trends. Designers are now taking into account not only the personal style of individuals but also the impact of clothing on the environment. In addition, the focus of sustainable fashion manufacturers is on reducing carbon footprints while promoting environment-friendly practices among all stakeholders. Their aim is to create clothing that not only looks good but also preserves the bounties of this planet and benefits everyone involved. Thereby, sustainable fashion offers a beacon of hope for a future where fashion can be both stylish and ethical.

Sustainable fashion is a powerful movement that aims to revolutionize the way we view and engage with clothing. It’s a correction to the damage done by the fast fashion industry and a rallying cry for a more mindful and humane approach to fashion. Sustainable fashion is all about creating long-lasting garments that are produced in a socially and environmentally responsible manner, promoting a more equitable and sustainable future. In essence, it’s a holistic vision that recognizes the harmony between various factors of change and strives to create a flourishing world where fashion is a feel-good celebration.

One way in which sustainable fashion supports human life is by ensuring fair labour practices. It ascertains that employees work in a safe environment, receivefair wages and are treated respectfully. Sustainable fashion brands often work directly with manufacturers and suppliers to ensure that workers are treated fairly and that their basic human rights are respected.

Another important aspect of sustainable fashion is the support of handcrafted techniques. Many sustainable fashion brands work with artisans and craftspeople, having expertise in traditional techniques to create beautiful and unique garments. By supporting these artisans, sustainable fashion brands are to preserve traditional crafts and support the communities where these crafts are practiced.

Moreover, sustainable fashion hasthe ability to promote social justice and equality. Many sustainable fashion brands prioritize fair labour practices and support marginalized communities, giving a voice to those who have been silenced by the fast fashion industry. By supporting these brands, consumers can use fashion as a tool for social change, promoting a more just and equitable world.

Below mentioned are some sustainable and sustainable fashion trends:

Vintage Clothing

The trend of buying used or vintage clothing is making a return due to its numerous benefits. This fashion trend is also known as thriving in today’s time. By reusing old clothes, you can help the environment and save money. It’s also a great way to find unique items that no one else wears.

Second-hand Fashion

Buying second-hand clothes is currently in vogue. Many consumers are taking advantage of this expanding market, which saves them money and benefits the environment by reducing textile waste. You can also find distinctive accessories that make you stand out.

Recycled Plastic

Some types of clothing, such as sportswear and swimwear, are made from synthetic fibres derived from oil, which is harmful to the environment. To combat this issue, there is a growing focus on a circular economy. Fashion companies are now using recycled plastic waste to produce high-quality, affordable, and eco-friendly apparel.

Vegan Fashion

With time, more people are becoming aware of the negative impact the fashion industry has on animals. This is why vegan fashion is becoming increasingly popular. By choosing animal-free materials, such as recycled or organic fibers, you can still look fashionable without contributing to animal cruelty.

Organic Cotton

The use of certified organic cotton is becoming more prevalent in the fashion industry as a response to the negative impacts of fast fashion. Organic cotton is superior to conventional cotton because it’s non-GMO and grown without harmful chemicals, making it more environment-friendly. Opting for organic cotton is a great way to support ethical business practices.

Furthermore, the impact of sustainable fashion goes far beyond the clothes themselves. It has the power to change the way we think about ourselves and our place in the world. When we choose to support sustainable fashion brands, we are not just making a statement about our personal style; we are making a statement about our values and our commitment to creating a better world.

The Coda

The concept of sustainable fashion is not merely an haute trend; it is a growing movement that has gained traction globally. Its aim is to build a future where fashion is not only visually appealing but also ethically and sustainably produced. This movement acknowledges our obligation to the planet and each other and calls for proactive measures to bring about positive and lasting change.

The festival’s 2023 theme, ‘Walk Your Worth’, is a nod to the brand’s ethos, which encourages individuals to embrace their confidence and celebrate themselves – because they are all worth it.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, on occasion of the 76th edition of Festival de Cannes says, “I look forward to returning to Festival de Cannes as a global spokesperson for L’Oréal Paris. I have been honored with the privilege of experiencing female artists showcase their talent on a global platform of this stature. The brand’s unwavering dedication to empower women has been a constant throughout its illustrious history, and this year’s theme serves yet another impactful step in that direction. It has always been a pleasure to celebrate my long-standing association with the brand and the values it upholds”.

Anushka Sharma said, “I am looking forward to represent L’Oréal Paris at the Cannes red carpet. I firmly believe that women must embrace their individuality with sheer confidence, and I feel truly aligned with the brand’s key principles. This year’s theme, ‘Walk Your Worth’, couldn’t be more appropriate as it highlights the value of recognizing and commemorating oneself. I’m happy to be a part of this progressive change towards inclusivity and to support millions of women all over the world to value and appreciate themselves. Together, let’s celebrate self-worth in all its glory!”

Aditi Rao Hydari, added, “I am elated to be a part of this year’s Festival De Cannes as L’Oréal Paris’ spokesperson. It has truly been a privilege to have been associated with a brand that has always led the path to women empowerment and has worked towards enabling women to be confident and growth-oriented in every aspect of their lives. This year’s theme of ‘Walk Your Worth’ truly aligns with what the brand stands for, encouraging women across the globe to accept themselves and walk their worth with confidence.”

The brand stands for women’s empowerment in cinema through a privileged relationship with the actress ambassadors who embody the values of the brand. As official Festival de Cannes makeup partner, it invites actors, actresses and ambassadors to bring this vision of empowered beauty to walk their worth on the red carpet. From the opening to the closing ceremony, it reveals the new season of beauty and innovation, unveiling the brand’s new looks created by 30 international makeup artists under the creative direction of Global Makeup Artist Val Garland.

Festival de Cannes partner since 1997, L’Oréal Paris goes further in supporting women in cinema with the Lights on Women Award launched in 2021 to rebalance inequality in the movie industry. Underrepresented in the global film industry, only 17 percent of those in directorial positions on leading films are women, and just 25 percent of those behind-the-scenes. In response, L’Oréal Paris created the yearly Lights on Women program, a dotation and full support ecosystem for promising female film directors.
