H&M, Mugler celebrate tie up

A fashion presentation, dance performances, and DJ sets by Bobby Beethoven, Goth Jafar, and Asmara were interspersed with the performances during an after-party…reports Asian Lite News

H&M and Mugler hosted a cultural event on April 19 at the Park Avenue Armoury in Manhattan, New York City, to commemorate the impending release of their eagerly anticipated collection. The event featured fashion, music, performance, and entertainment. Pamela Anderson, Charli XCX, Chloe Sevigny, Lourdes Leon, and Dominique Jackson were among the Mugler community members who attended the event and donned Mugler H&M collection clothing.

Shygirl, Amaarae, and Eartheater, three musicians who appear in the Mugler H&M music video and who all wore special pieces from the new collection, performed as a group during the event. Before joining together to sing a new rendition of the 1990s club smash “Music Sounds Better With You,” a song especially commissioned in honour of the Mugler H&M line, each artist played a number of their own successes.

A fashion presentation, dance performances, and DJ sets by Bobby Beethoven, Goth Jafar, and Asmara were interspersed with the performances during an after-party. The event was designed as a unique hybrid, fusing dance, club culture, live performance, sound, and fashion while paying homage to the theatricality and flamboyance that have distinguished the house from the time it was founded by Thierry Mugler to its current incarnation under Casey Cadwallader. The event, which drew over 800 attendees, perfectly captured Mugler’s commitment to diversity and inclusivity as well as the democratic attitude that guides its designer partnerships with H&M.

“Mugler has always been a house with a lot of cultural soul, and this event was a celebration of our long association with music, dance and performance. It was the ideal celebration of the Mugler H&M collection, and the perfect way to welcome people into our world – an unforgettable night built around freedom, personal expression and liberating, bold fashion,” says Casey Cadwallader, Creative Director at Mugler.

“This event was a true cultural moment – a tribute to Mugler’s long history of welcoming people into a world of transformation and self-expression. When you think of Mugler you think of show-stopping fashion and catwalk theatrics, and this was just that,” says Ann-Sofie Johansson, Creative advisor at H&M.

“It felt amazing to be performing in the Mugler H&M collection. When you think of the history of Mugler you think of so many iconic musical moments and incredible performances, so it’s an honour to be included in Casey’s vision for this special celebration,” says Shygirl.

Tips to remove sun tan at home

Papaya is one of the best ingredients for skin care. The fruit contains enzymes that help whiten and detan the skin. Additionally, it helps treat skin ulcers and can be beneficial for removing tan from the body…reports Asian Lite News

Summers are here in full splendour, and all those who love sunshine and adventures in the Sun, also have a fear of tanning. Sometimes this affects you physically and affects your confidence and self-esteem.

Is the fear of getting tanned forcing you to avoid going out? Tanning is unavoidable, but you can easily remove sun tan at home with some simple ingredients. Try these simple ayurvedic ways to get rid of tanning at home outlined by Shreedha Singh, Co-Founder of T.A.C – The Ayurveda Co.

Ayurvedic body mask: This ayurvedic body mask requires two teaspoons of triphala churna, a pinch of turmeric, one teaspoon of besan, and a few drops of rose water. Apply this combination to the affected tanned area and rinse after 15 minutes.

Coffee body scrub: Add one or two teaspoons of almond or coconut oil, half a spoonful of sugar, and a few drops of lemon juice to one tablespoon of filter coffee (dry powder or filtrate). After thoroughly blending the ingredients, gently massage your tanned body parts. Rinse it off after some time, then pat it dry. The finest results come from using this twice each week.

Papaya mask: Papaya is one of the best ingredients for skin care. The fruit contains enzymes that help whiten and detan the skin. Additionally, it helps treat skin ulcers and can be beneficial for removing tan from the body.

Combine one tablespoon of honey and half-ripe papaya pulp in a bowl. Next, apply it gently to the tanned areas and massage it for ten minutes. Allow it to rest for another 20 minutes. After washing with cold water, apply a mild moisturizer. Use this mask at least twice a week for quick results.

Nalpamaradithailam: Regular body oiling with the Ayurvedic “NalpamaradiThailam” lightening and brightening oil aids in detan and keeping the body supple and nourished.

Turmeric and besan pack: Mix two teaspoons of besan, one teaspoon of milk or curd, and one teaspoon of turmeric powder to make a thick pack. Apply the paste to your sun-affected skin gently and uniformly for 30 minutes, and wash it off with warm water.

Banana and honey mask: Mash some overripe bananas with a spoonful of honey, a few drops of milk, and malai. This mixture lightened the skin when applied to tanned body parts and rinsed off after 15 minutes.

Coconut milk: This de-tanner is all-natural and easily accessible. Vitamin C and lactic acid are abundant in coconut milk, which helps to eliminate tanning from the skin effectively. Additionally, it is very moisturising and nourishing, which also keeps your skin hydrated. To use:

Drench a cotton pad in fresh organic coconut milk.

Apply it evenly to the face and neck and let it absorb in the skin for 15 minutes.

Wash it off with normal water.

Masoor dal, aloe vera, and tomato pack: Make a paste using aloe vera puree, tomato paste, and lentils. Spread the paste to the tanned areas of your body, let it sit for thirty minutes, and then rinse. Apply this mask at least twice a week for optimum results.

Rice flour body scrub: Take 1-2 tablespoons of rice flour and combine it with some raw milk. Apply the mixture by blending and gently massaging it with your fingertips on the face, neck, and other tanning-prone body regions. After leaving it on for twenty minutes, rinse it off with normal water. Apply this homemade scrub twice or thrice a week to get rid of the tan naturally.

Apply sunscreen: Maintain your skin care regimen because tanning takes around a month or two to remove. To prevent further tanning, apply sunscreen frequently to your body.

Sabyasachi’s largest flagship store in Mumbai

Sabyasachi is a celebration of slow authentic luxury, of the handmade and the finest of Indian craftsmanship…reports Asian Lite News

Sabyasachi Mukherjee is a brand in his own right, widely known for his well-known Indian bridal wear and his distinctive contribution to Indian textiles with a modern twist.

The celebrated fashion designer announced the opening of his luxury house rooted in heritage, craft and culture in Mumbai at ICP Fort Heritage, Veer Nariman Road, Off Horniman Circle, which will be open from Monday to Sunday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., beginning April 18, 2023.

Sabyasachi is a celebration of slow authentic luxury, of the handmade and the finest of Indian craftsmanship. A brand that revels in India’s legacy but with a uniquely modern perspective, capturing what was and what is, with a single-minded vision to create modern heirlooms.

Sabyasachi unveils first glimpse of his largest flagship store in Mumbai.(photo:IANSLIFE)

The store is sprawled over 25,862 sq ft and housed in the majestic neo classical landmark built in the Italianate revival tradition. The neo classical building was completed in 1913 by Chambers and Fritchley and was originally built for the British Bank of The Middle East. The building is classified as a Grade II A heritage structure under the Heritage Regulations of Greater Bombay 1995. Bringing the ideals of fine culture back to this heritage structure, Sabyasachi has reimagined the interiors into an immersive retail space that merges the house’s signature cultural savoir faire with Indian decadence, craftsmanship and history.

Over 100 chandeliers, 275 carpets, 3,000 books and 150 works of art created by the Sabyasachi Foundation, are layered between age-old Tanjore paintings, Pichhwais in the Deccan, Nathdwara and Kota style, vintage photography, Mughal miniatures, rare bronzes, 19th century Company Paintings and rare lithographs. The space is lined with curiosity cabinets sourced from souks, modernist interpretations of Persian Qajars, 18th century Venetian handcrafted chairs, rare French Art Nouveau cabinets and arrogant brass sculptures made in Calcutta.

Leather-bound books, Tang dynasty pottery, rare Canton vases and odd antiquities lie on retrofitted turn of the century furniture with fine inlay work, alongside the house’s now signature block printed silk velvet lined busts, vitrines and lampshades. From Rajasthan to Bengal, vintage handwoven and crafted textiles from across India can be found all across the store, showcasing a sliver of India’s grand crafts legacy.

While the wallpaper and upholstery are part of the Sabyasachi for Nilaya collection by Asian Paints, presenting various house motifs and hallmarks. The space is a living museum and the most realised iteration of the Sabyasachi experience.

Housed within is a micro-exhibit from the Sabyasachi archive currently showcasing couture from the inaugural Sabyasachi X Christian Louboutin collaboration Bater, 2015 and its sequel Firdaus, 2016. Hidden lounges and dens dot each floor, with a tearoom tucked away behind silk velvet drapes, offers guests a moment of pause with a curated list of Sabyasachi’s favourite blends. Even as the signature notes of rose and frankincense waft through the labyrinthine space.

The ground floor homes the Sabyasachi bridal collection. The first floor is dedicated to the brand’s largest showcase of jewellery in the world, housing Fine, Heritage, and High Jewellery collections. And the second floor is home to womenswear, menswear, the international collection, and Sabyasachi Accessories. Sabyasachi’s vision for the retail experience remains consistent across the various cities and stores. It’s an escape and a reminder to step away and into a timeless sense of being and the complete abandon and decadence of the joy of age-old heritage and slow luxury. The store is an homage to the multi-cultural heritage of India, of the cross-cultural exchanges that have played out over the centuries, of Sabyasachi’s Calcutta and of the grand inheritance of luxury that belongs to India.

With the heatwave in full swing, it’s time to think about some summer makeup looks. So here are some easy ways to ace the light summer make-up tips to withstand the humidity and heat.

  1. Use moisturiser/Sunscreen: Use a tinted moisturiser or sunscreen to set your makeup and concealer. Sunscreen is essential during the summer season. The tinted cream will serve as a foundation and will even out your skin tone for a bright appearance.
  2. Use Water Proof Make-up: Invest in good quality water-resistant mascara and liner. The best part is that you won’t have to worry about liner and mascara running off your face due to humidity or sweat. It will also provide smudge-proof eyes.
  1. Use a Bronzer: A bronzer can be used to achieve a natural and neutral appearance. It also gives the appearance of a tan. Bronzer tan appearances are popular and look great on all skin tones. It helps to brighten your look.
  1. Cheek-to-cheek Make up: To highlight your cheeks, lips, and eyelids, use a single neutral shade. It will not only keep your bag light, but it will also give you a monochromatic look that is ideal for the summer season.
  2. Use less Make-up: Apply less makeup. To avoid the claggy look, avoid using powder blush. Have the right tools to help you apply your makeup equally so it doesn’t run on your face when the heat strikes. Simple hairstyles to try with straighteners

This is an excellent method to get a blow dryer to bounce. To lift the route, rotate the styler 360 degrees starting at the route and draw it up. Harden the hair after fixing it. Take it down and give it a paddle stroke once more…reports Asian Lite News

It would be a fool’s errand to try to convince a woman of how important her hair is in deciding her overall appearance. After all, we frequently regard our hair as one of our most prized assets, and it necessitates careful maintenance. We are here to allay your concerns if you want to maintain your uniqueness while staying in style constantly.

Check out some cool hairstyles penned by Vipul Chudasama, the Creative Director of Ikonic Professional to try with a Straightener:

STRAIGHTENING

Move a portion of the head from ear to ear, beginning with the area directly behind, and moving through the sections horizontally until you reach the top of the head. Never accept a piece that is wider than the plate. Comb after applying a heat protection spray. Pull the comb steadily and gently from root to tip while using the hair straightening machine. To make the sides smooth, slightly squeeze them.

MESSY BEACH WAVES

Make a broad vertical cut, keeping your forehead away from the blade. With the bottom of the hair styler pointing up, begin near the root and twist in a 360-degree motion. We’ll begin in the upper portion at the cheekbone level. When you’re finished, roughen it up but make the waves look messy and tousled by rubbing them with your fingertips. For a matte finish, use a salt spritz or dry shampoo.

VINTAGE WAVES

For Look 2, follow the same procedures, but don’t rough up the ripples. To join the shaft into one unit, divide the dressing or paddle brush with a gloss spray, then brush the shaft.

GLAMOUR CURLS

This is an excellent method to get a blow dryer to bounce. To lift the route, rotate the styler 360 degrees starting at the route and draw it up. Harden the hair after fixing it. Take it down and give it a paddle stroke once more.

10 easy hairstyles to try with straighteners.(photo:IANSLIFE)

CRIMPED WAVES

Make a random braid in a section of hair, leaving 12 inches of root resistance. Hairspray should be lightly misted before being allowed to dry. The plait should be flattened, lifted several times, and allowed to settle. Finger through each braid to untangle it.

POLISHED PONYTAIL

Sort the hair into the bottom or the centre. Straighten like you’re doing your hair. Brush the hair with your head tilted back, then tie a ribbon around it. To produce a chic flick at the tip, rotate a random section of hair 180 degrees in various directions around the styler. To give the shiny stems a double texture, matte them with sea salt spray.

20s FAUX BOB

Start by taking a small, horizontal piece of your straight hair. Using a short clip, thread the hair through the S-shaped styler beginning near the root. Clamp the hair in position. For the ideal finger wave, give the corners a twist. To make a faux bob, lightly brush your hair with a paddle brush and pin both ends up and down.

GRUNGY BENDS

The styler should be positioned at the eye line, held at a 45-degree angle, and clamped crosswise across a sizable, haphazard vertical section of hair. After clamping the hair, spin the hair styler 180 degrees in the opposite direction, then leave it alone for another second. Then, bring the hair down 2 inches and repeat the process. Repetition will give the ends of the hair a messy appearance. To give the hair a dirty texture, rub the ends and massage the roots. For a matte finish, use dry shampoo or marine salt spray.

SOFT RETRO CURLS

Consider a straight segment. The curl’s girth determines the size. From the tip upward, curl the hair around the two fingers. Pull out the last hair by pushing it between your fingertips. With the aid of a hair straightener, secure it while chilling. In the other parts, repeat. With your finger, loosen it, then smooth it.

INTENSITY BEACH WAVES ON LONG HAIR

Are you prepared for a two-minute life-changing hack? Twist the hair into two parts before lowering the heat on the curling irons to give the curls a lovely beach texture. You could also braid your hair and then set the curls with a flat iron.

Microdosing was a huge skincare trend in 2022, which basically, consisted of using small amounts of actives to prevent irritation and redness…reports Asian Lite News

We are all getting ready to witness a new spurt of skincare trends in this new year, though, as consistent innovation and meeting consumer demands are ruling the skincare sector.

While continuing the legacy of the “Skinification” of beauty, 2023 will introduce a new skincare approach with more diverse knowledge and dynamic trends in beauty and skincare.

Get prepped for the top skincare trends of 2023 by taking a look at the skin’s future and reading the experts’ roundup from SUGAR Cosmetics and Quench Botanics.

Microbiome Skincare

The skincare world’s focus on advocating a healthy skin microbiome continues this year too. But what is microbiome skincare, the new skincare trend of 2023? Microbiomes are basically a group of microorganisms that are already present in the skin working for the skin.

Biome-based skincare helps in flourishing the good bacteria and preventing bad bacteria from taking over. Microbiome skincare consists of probiotics, prebiotics, and postbiotics that support your skin’s immunity to perform at its best ability. This year skin will focus more on rewilding with pH-balancing formulas, bacteria-boosting ingredients, and skincare products that create a barrier to protect the skin against harmful radicals.

4 must-have skincare ingredients for a perfect winter glow.(photo:IANSLIFE)

A “Skin Kindness” Approach

The biggest skincare industry trend that has always been in the spotlight and will be in the future is-skin kindness. Raise your hands if you’ve tried triple cleansing with exfoliating scrubs, and peel-off masks to tackle common gripes of hyperpigmentation but end up with breakouts and some irritation. The upcoming skincare trend of 2023 is all about using less aggressive and more nurturing skincare products and ingredients and aligning more toward skin barrier health. This year, reduce the complexity of your skincare routine and avoid using heavy products that may be feckless at times. Instead, show your skin some kindness.

Fermented Skincare

Although fermented skincare products aren’t new in the beauty industry, no doubt they’ll be the biggest Korean skincare trend of 2023. A number of brands are focusing on products that harness the goodness of fermented ingredients to create skin-boosting barriers and a healthy microbiome system. This process improves the efficacy of active ingredients blended together in a formula. While the process of fermentation is quite old, it’s hitting the streets of mainstream skincare with ultimate benefits and more potent fermented ingredients.

Indulge In Antioxidant-Rich Skincare

You’ve probably heard of free radicals – the bad guys. They are little particles that can wreak havoc on your skin. They break down collagen and elastin, making skin sag and wrinkle. With rising awareness about these repercussions of free radicals and sun damage, vitamins C and E have become popular antioxidant skincare ingredients – and here to stay! SUGAR Cosmetics’ Citrus Got Real Skincare range is power packed with the antioxidant properties of vitamin C, which works wonders to even out skin tone and brighten your overall complexion, leaving you with a vibrant glow. Moreover, apart from being touted as the best anti-aging ingredient, vitamin C boosts collagen production, prevents premature aging, and protects against environmental stressors.

Micro-treatments

Microdosing was a huge skincare trend in 2022, which basically, consisted of using small amounts of actives to prevent irritation and redness. Similarly, this year, micro-treatments will take up the headlines with their mini facials and quick-fix tips. The 2023 moto is definitely ‘Use less but the best’. Incorporating budget-friendly skincare treatments, including facial tools and mini spot treatments based on your skin type and concern is now in for 2023.

Multi-use and Multitasking Products

Now, more than sheet masks and single-use products, this new year consumers will move more towards gel masks and clay masks that they can use over and over again instead of using and throwing ones. Also, there will be a rise in products that holds the benefit of two skincare regime steps in one or three skincare regime steps in one bottle – for example, the Quench BotanicsMon Cherry Brightening Foam Cleanser that combines oil cleanse and water-based cleansing in just one step.

Waterless Beauty

Water is the most common ingredient found in most skincare products, but the upcoming skincare trends of 2023 let us switch to waterless beauty. Disclaimer, water itself isn’t a harmful ingredient, but to ensure the efficacy of the products, brands are ruling out water from their formulations. With almost no preservatives, the waterless products avoid the breeding of germs and enable more effective and full-force results. Keeping the eco-conscious mindset and the impacts of water shortage, this trend will be huge in 2023. From cleansing balms and powder cleansers to pressed serums and concentrated oils, the improved potency of waterless skincare comes in a diverse variety.
