Third term of our govt not far, says Modi

In his remarks in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, PM Modi said that ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikaas’ is not mere slogan, it is his guarantee and spoke about his priorities over the next five years…reports Asian Lite News

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed confidence of BJP-led NDA forming its third successive government in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls and said it will use its energy to strengthen the foundations of ‘Viksit Bharat’.

Replying to the debate on the motion of thanks in the Rajya Sabha, the Prime Minister made an all-out attack on the Congress and said the party which targets the BJP-led government over its handling of public sector undertakings “destroyed HAL and Air India”

“The third term of our Government is not far. A few people call it ‘Modi 3.0’. Modi 3.0 will use all its strength towards strengthening the foundation of Viksit Bharat,” he said. Lok Sabha polls are likely to be held in April-May this year.

In his reply to the debate on the motion of thanks in Lok Sabha on Monday, PM Modi had expressed similar confidence of BJP coming back to power.

“Only 100-125 days remain to go…I don’t go into numbers but I can see the mood of the country. It will make the NDA cross 400 and BJP will definitely get 370 seats…The third term will be about taking very big decisions,” he had said.

PM Modi’s mentioning of 370 seats apparently was a reference to the BJP-led government at the Centre scrapping Article 370 of the Constitution early in its second term in office. BJP leaders have been talked about it in election rallies

In his remarks in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, PM Modi said that ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikaas’ is not mere slogan, it is his guarantee and spoke about his priorities over the next five years.

“Sabka Saath Sabka Vikaas’ yeh naara nahi hai, yeh Modi ki Guarantee hai. In the next five years, the public transport of India is going to be transformed. In the next five years, the country will see Bullet Train and the expansion of Vande Bharat. In the coming five years, Made in India will echo in the semiconductor world, and we will be the leader in electronics,” PM Modi said.

He spoke about steps taken for the welfare of farmers and said “superfood millet produced by the small farmers of our village will be available in the world market”.

“Drones will be a new strength for farmers. I am sure that animal husbandry and fish farming will increase and we are going to create records,” he said.

PM Modi said contrary to Congress allegations against the government concerning Hindustan Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, the PSU is showing record revenue generation.

“I was born in independent India and my dreams are independent…Congress said we sold PSUs and destroyed them. I want to ask them who destroyed BSNL and MTNL? Recall the state of HAL under Congress. They destroyed HAL and Air India. Congress party and UPA cannot run away from their failure. Today, the BSNL that you destroyed in it is moving towards Made in India 4G and 5G. HAL is showing record revenue generation and it has become Asia’s largest helicopter manufacturing factory. We have turned around the story. Today LIC’s shares are breaking records,” he said. (ANI)

Will CCP regulations block Xi from securing a third term?

A regulation entitled “Interim Provisions on the Term of Office of Leading Party and Government Cadres” supposedly could challenge Xi’s ability to remain at the head of the CCP in the next term

As the Chinese President Xi Jinping is eyeing to secure a third term in office, his political opponents are challenging this bid of the President at a time when his much-criticized strict “Zero-COVID” policies have brought the entire nation to the brink of economic collapse.

Xi obviously faced an ever-increasing attack from his opponents and this is evident in a recent post published by Cai Xia, a retired professor at the Party School of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party.

In his post, he referred to a regulation entitled “Interim Provisions on the Term of Office of Leading Party and Government Cadres”. According to a post by him on Twitter, he said that this provision is still in effect.

It is interesting to note that this interim provision supposedly could challenge Xi’s ability to remain at the head of the CCP in the next term, reported Global Strait.

As per this provision, the tenure of the CCP party and the Chinese government leading cadres is limited. They can only serve in the same position for two consecutive terms or a total of 15 years.

After this post by Cai, a Taiwanese media outlet published an article on this provision. In June 5 article, the interim provision could hinder Xi’s wish to extend his Party leadership.

The article talks about how Xi, since 2017, had been meeting various substantive obstacles to his re-election. According to former diplomat and author Roger Garside, the Chinese president Xi’s opponents are also taking advantage of the country’s internal troubles to undermine him.

Garside, the author of the book “China Coup,” said that the Chinese leader is facing a combination of external and internal pressures.

“There are tipping points… looming up in the Chinese scene of the very gravest kind,” he said, adding that these would allow rivals within the leadership to move against Xi, as per the media portal.

To add insult to injury, China’s Zero-COVID policy and mass lockdowns have produced “a very vulnerable state in China, and an imperative to isolate China from the rest of the world,” he said.

“And internally, it is aroused, as we have seen on videos from Shanghai and elsewhere, anger, indignation, and an erosion of respect and loyalty for the Communist Party,” Garside said adding, “But this came against a background of a disastrous performance in the property sector. We have seen the default of major property developers,” he added. (ANI)
